May Day-Derby Day-Mother Goose Day...what did you do?
Comments (26)Luckygal, where in the world are you? Somewhere near a beach obviously--but which one. Sorry no good luck on the TS shopping, do keep trying! Jeanne, I have two baker's racks outside, one is a corner unit--but neither look nearly as cute as yours with your collections and vignettes. I need to work on mine I think. That is so neat that you do the Farmer's market too. Candy, I'm another one who does tablescapes for my "imaginary" friends. DH will only eat at the table when we have company--rest of the time he prefers to eat in front of the tv. Karen, I didn't do a table, but I did glue a little cheese tray and glass dome on a pedestal and decorate it--can I get any points for that? ;o) Kathleen, the rooster napkins like in your photo that you shared with me are some of my favs. We don't do sit down breakfast often, but I like to just sit the table and display them on the plates because they look so cute....See MoreHow do you time the sale of your house?
Comments (8)Here's what I'm currently in for a situation. Realize, I may be the exception not the standard. We went under contract for full asking price shortly after putting our house on the market in Feb/march. closing was to be 4/25/2008. Our realtor urged us to sell first, get the $$ then buy. Well, as luck would have it, the closing was 'postponed'. Then again, and again over the past 13 days or so. We moved into my in-laws a few towns over by 4/25 and have been there since. We still have not closed. As of today, 5/9 we still have not closed but have given our buyer until Monday a.m. to have everything ready to go and until Wednesday to have the closing. On that day the house will go back on the market and damages will be collected for failure to secure financing. They are on 'round 3 of obtaining a mortage'. Husband and I work opposite shifts, we live at his parents and we drive to pre-school 3 days a week and soccer one day on the weekend in the town we are selling our home in. Last week my husband kept telling me it looked like my head was about to explode! It is so frustrating. But trying to see the glass as half full - I am THANKFUL I did not have a closing on a house I wanted to buy the same day as the one I need to sell b/c then I'd be in a pickle and have 2 mortages - then we would have really seen some head explosion! It's all a pain in the you know what, but we could be in a much, much worse situation....See MoreWhat do you do before each showing?
Comments (12)Let's see if I can remember it all - In master bath: --replace hand towel with one for show --put away any used towels --put out vanity mirror and candle to highlight the --vanity/make-up area --shine all fixtures and light plates --make sure shower is dry --clean toilet (also have 3 boys! lol) Our 2nd bath is closed off, so I only go in there to check and dust. In the master bedroom: --put on the comforter and shams --put away my 'real' pillows In my small kitchen: --move one plant from window to counter --put away paper towels & paper napkins (nothing on counters except two plants & coffee pot) --put rug in front of sink --put garbage can in garage --clean and shine the sink, fixtures & appliances Dining room: --remove table cloth --set out bowl of apples Living room: --put out the pillows --place a tray on the ottoman Also, because of the kids, I run around and clean off all the door knobs and look for marks on the walls, windows and the tile floors. And like others, I turn on lights and open blinds, and slowly check the condition of each room. I also check the front and back yards. My boys are camped out with me in the master, so their rooms and bath are closed off. All their toys have been reduced to the point where they fit in baskets in one of the master closets. I'd go crazy if I had to worry about keeping their rooms cleaned every second of the day! Thank goodness that they're still young enough to think this is fun :) I don't mind doing all this - it's quick and easy and I do it because I'm hoping for a good offer in a short time :) It's the keeping it all clean stuff that's hard. I clean twice a day - before bed and again in the afternoon, and I tidy up constantly. So far all my showing have been in the late afternoon or the evening, and half of those gave no notice....See MoreWhat's on sale where you live? And where do you live?
Comments (38)I have used those Argentina shrimp and think they taste more like lobster then a shrimp when butter dipped. That huge vein is roe in the shrimp, the vein lays under it. A lot of waste considering the heavy shell. They are unusually soft after còoking. My fish monger said he hears alot of complaints about texture. I have used them on and off for about a year. I always notice a much stronger smell from the opened bag and when cooking. Suspect they are not being handled carefully on the boat. None of the other kinds of shrimp have those issues. I worked in my family owned fish market for years, know fresh seafood does not smell. I will not buy the pink Argentina shrimp again....See Moredabunch
