First off, are you sure that this one is how you measured it and not a mistake on their part? I am hoping others come up with ideas, but you would hae to put a valance to drop the length and then panels to cover the sides. I don't think this is the look you were after.
Have any friends who would like to buy it from you? It's really a nice shade so sorry that you are having problems.

I'm used to seeing Roman shades placed within the trim so it looks framed in. This doesn't look right. On my monitor the shade looks a lot darker than the wallpaper background too. Won't they let you return it because the color is so far off a true white? Make a stink about it. With those multiple orders they should try to keep you happy. I think curtains might look better with the wallpaper too.

It is actually a soft white with just a hint of ivory. The blackout liner makes it look dark in this pic but I wanted to show the light peeking around the sides. The walls are painted gray with purple stencils. I had hoped for a brighter white, and went with the lightest shade on my monitor, silk "cotton". I did not check the packages because I was worried they'd get dirty waiting to be installed. We have hit many glitches along the way and are way behind schedule.

The problem is it was all ordered in Jan. and I had expected to install them in Feb. Well, it took forever to get them (March 3rd) and yet we only installed them today. I think I am past when they could be returned.
I checked the sizes and it seems to be what I ordered.

I am just stumped at how I can make it work now. I am all ears because if it is possible, someone here will figure it out (hint, hint)!

I would find some fabric the same color as the new blinds and stencil the same pattern on it to make a panel for each side. I don't know what to tell you about the bottom. Everything made like that I have ever ordered had extra at the bottom to rest on the sill...

I agree with palimpsest. Try to get drapery as close as possible to the color of the shade, on each side.

Would the company you ordered the shade from have the color in a drapery? You might call and ask.

With side panels, much of that light will be blocked. Wow is that ever bright! A chrome rod will be fine. Very clean. I wouldn't go for a sheer unless it was the only type in the same color as the shades. I saw a grey and purple room by Candice Olsen done once. Very nice. She had the most amazing chandelier. ooops sorry. My mind starting wandering. Love the stencils.

Gosh, I feel your pain at this. How is the top mounted? Inside or outside? Be aware, the cost to fix this via panels and a valance may end up costing as much or more than the cost to replace with something else, and you may not like it so well either. Are you positive this is the window the shade was made for? I assume you verified the measurements are what was ordered. To me, what also looks odd is the pleats don't all seem to be the same length. If you can find something about the shade that is not right, like color or construction, you would have some recourse to return it. Perhaps you could find a seamstress to rework the pleasts at either the top or the bottom to get you the length that you needed. Or perhaps some type of mounting header could be constructed that the shade attaches to. If you don't like the suggestion for side panels, perhaps you could trim out your window and furr in in a bit on the sides. Again, more expense and hassle than you may want to take on.

I woke up with the thought of getting a tapered valance that is a little longer on the sides. I was thinking of getting a medium silver/gray color to go with the rug. I think a purple one would be too matchy-matchy and it would be hard to get the exact shade. I would be worried that stenciling a drape would be too matchy-matchy as well, and I'd have the challenge of finding a drape in the same color. The 2 walls I did with the stencil are strong and I want to leave that as the statement. If I did it in the same shade as the shade, it may compound the color being off (and the company I bought from does not have matching stuff to coordinate other than more shades). If I can find one that is more tailored/flat across the front, that would keep the look neat. Pleats would be ok, but not gathers. I think I'd do it without a visible rod so that it comes around the sides into the wall and helps keep the light from the upper part coming in. We have a tall chest that is helping to block most of the side by our bed from dh's eyes in the a.m..
It may be a decent idea (or not, lol), but I am not sure where to look for something so specific like that. Getting it in a different color gives me more leeway on the exact shade of gray and not have to try to match the "white".

I took a pic last night, so this may help show it differently. I will need to steam out the wrinkles, so it will be smoother once I locate the steamer ;)
Looking at the pic, it seems like it looks a little flat as it is, so maybe adding a valance will make it look better. I think we made a mistake in getting too much window as it dominates the wall. A single window would have been fine enough for me. I am not sure if we needed this much square footage of window to meet code. It limits what can be done on that wall and I prefer a bedroom to be more cozy than bright. My hindsight is much clearer now, lol.

Can you add a decorative trim/binding along each side of the blind? The blinds would need to lay flat so you could use iron tape or sew a long strip of coordinating fabric down each side.

Is there one window or two? It looks like one window fits well. That is more work if there are two blinds.

If nothing else works, how about installing some plain molding to the inside frame of the window, wide enough to block out the light!

I think I am settled on getting a valance. Dh wants panels too on the ends. I am worried that the entire window is getting bigger with the add ons, but it looks odd now, so we have to try something.
The blinds are all put together carefully, so I can't pull them apart to add bindings. I think if it had a ribbon banding on it, that it would look best if they were not at the edges anyway.
I think our first mistake was getting double windows where one would have worked. It is the first thing you see when you look down the hall and I had wanted a nice view of the yard in the day time. A single window would have sufficed.

I did find a valance I like, but am having trouble getting it locally without paying an arm and a leg. Lowes has it, but only at one about 30 mins away, and towards NYC so heading into a heavy traffic area. I think it will take some patience to get this all sorted out. That is something that I have a short supply of lately, lol....

What about a lambrequin in a shape that complements your stencil?

I'd love something like that but we are not handy and I am afraid of what custom making that would cost from a professional. It would def fit the look of the room if done right... sigh...

It would be easily doable for even a non-DIYer if you have a jigsaw. They are very easy to use and maneuver around turns quite easily. If you don't have the stencil you could use tracing paper up to the wall to get the curve to match and go from there. If we lived close I'd help you. Anywhere close to eastern Nebraska around Omaha? :^D
