Agree. Diamond. Even modest little ranches in the 70's had diamond shapes everywhere. A home like yours, with more semi authentic styling, wouldn't look right with the square. But, there's nothing wrong with your current door that a good electrician and better lighting plan inside the home wouldn't cure. It would be cheaper too. Also, paying an arborist to limb up the trees somewhat would be a way to lighten everything up. It might be a multi year plan though, given the age and character of those great old trees.

I'd call it Tudor, but its probably more accurately a storybook cottage. Whatever you want to call it, what a neat house. It's adorable! I'd prefer a light stucco with dark trim. It's just what looks right to me. The green you have now reminds me a little of the green used in the brick and timber frame farmhouses in northern Germany. I like the house but the furnishings look photoshopped, which is common now in some real estate listings. I like the white. I was at DD’s house Thursday for the first time since she moved in. Her walls are SW Alabaster and her trim is SW Pure White. I really couldn’t tell the difference, but I didn’t tell her that! But they were light and airy, which is what she wanted. I considered - momentarily - painting my interior doors dark charcoal. Then I thought about dust and left them white, nearly the same color as dust. 😉 The roses are gorgeous. They almost look like climbers with no place to climb.

Well this is a very good example of why downspouts shouldn't be painted out as trim- they are not architectural elements and shouldn't be highlighted as such. The big problem here is that the façade (front) of the house was remodeled but the original brick and siding was left on the side, so you're seeing a mishmash and all of these elements would too much for me to think through, I have the same concerns you have so I'd keep looking for another house, you don't need to settle for something you don't like.
