But those blue plates are just beautiful!!! Can you put them in a more prominent place?

Also, what would look really nice on your round table are the placemats they now make specifically for round tables. They're curved to fit the edge of the table! Now I wish I had my old round table back. lol

I have a WT that I think would look good up there. It would fill in the space on each side of the window & give the window so architecture if you don't use the carpenter to build you something. Here is the WT in my bathroom but you could use something more kitcheny for yours. The middle corbel would go up around your ceiling line with the other two on each side of the window.

oakleyok - thanks for the tip abot the placemats - I'll have to look for them. I thought the plates would be prominent in my kitchen instead of packed away in the attic LOL. I have others to put in my (green) DR.

I love the style of that valance, does any one know where you could get a patternfor it or do you know how its made.

OK, got free shipping (til tomorrow, with code plus9fsh) on outlet items over $75 so I ordered 2 valances and 2 striped scarves (might use them in FR with the one I already have - wanted to get them b4 they ran out).

Should have them by the end of the week, then we'll see how they're mounted.

brieen - if you can figure out from pics how they're made (were you talking about the JCP one?) I'll be glad to take detailed pics when I get them.

That would be great if you could post pictures. I have some fabric that would work in my dining nook, bought the fabric because I loved it and it was a bargain,but havent found a pattern I like.Got almost 15 yards 54 inch fabric at a garage sale for $60.00. some one bought it and changed their mind. Its a good quality drapery fabric. I Have 5 windows in my nook and one in the kitchen. With luck maybe I could covermy chair cushions too.

I don't sew (though I'll have to learn how - my aunt has a bunch of dress patterns for DD!) so $50 for the 2 valances at JCP might be best for me (I can return them if they don't look good!). But if you know how to sew, your definitely got a bargain!

Someone once posted a link for me - think these are all patterns, not ready-made curtains. I'm sure you can find something you like here, but you'd have to start a thread asking about them. I have no idea of prices.

The toile valance didn't look good - but I found some Shabby Chic balloon valances (one at Goodwill, one on clearance at Target). Which do you think looks better? I have green throughout my house, and the green one is lined so it controls light better, but then Id have to nix the idea of the blue plates (not sure I wanted them anyway). I think it might also look better with the tailored romans I have in the FR.
