Is Anyone Planning on Going to A Church Breakfast on Easter?

We plan on going, we went last year. It is pretty good. I don't know if many churches do that or not. We could go to the early service and then eat, but I think we will go to breakfast and then the later service. Which is still earlier than we would normaly go.

We go to a small church and only have one Sunday morning service. No breakfast, although that would be nice.

Our church serves a breakfast on Easter morning. This year it will be in place of Sunday School, and worship service will be after.

Last year the breakfast was:
scrambled eggs, danish, fresh fruit, coffee and juice.

We really enjoy it and this year we don't have to go any earlier.

My Mom always does Easter...I'm sure I'll bring a dish of some sort. Last year I made some of those colored deviled eggs! The kids (and adults) all thought it was fun. Here are the instructions: I peeled mine and then cut in half and removed the yolk before dying, although you can dye the entire egg if you like. To have colored deviled eggs, fill a cup with 1/2 cup cold water and add 2-3 drops of food coloring--you will need a different cup for each color of egg. Place the peeled, hard cooked egg into the cup and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Remove when whites have reached desired colored intensity. Proceed to make deviled eggs using your own favorite recipe. Almost. The widow of a colleague from when we were in Korea together (50 years ago) gave me some of Walter's clothes last year, and a few months ago said that she had some more that were in their cottage - including a nice light blue suit, newly cleaned. I've worn it once or twice before - to comments on how good it looks on me. Trouble is ... I have to pull in the gut to get the pants to close ... and then would find it hard to run, which necessitates heavy breathing ... but there is a tad of good news: there's a bit of extra cloth at the seat-seam. Wore it to 8:00 a.m. "Sunrise" prayer service, then breakfast, then regular Easter service, including communion. Good wishes for an uplifting week ahead, everyone. ole joyful

Anyone quilting this (Easter) weekend?

This quilt shall end up on an old Victorian iron bedstead. The pattern is Roberta's Jewels and it's the September Lotto block, also done in scrappy. If anyone wants an idea on what that jackpot shall look like if they win it, you got an idea. Now I have to make three more of them to enter into the September lotto. This particular jewel block really amounts to four Buckeye Beauty blocks, and the next one I'll make is off that pattern instead so I don't have to work with two inch pieces. It'll make the design four times as large, but I'm more than OK with that. No Marsha, it wasn't boring at all. I think I enjoyed making this block more than any I can think of. I just paced myself to one or two a day. I thought Kate's choice of blocks this year were just perfect and I've enjoyed all of them so far. Thanks for the compliments, guys. It's not the best work in the world, but will work for its intended use. If you have leaders and enders, this is the one to use it on! It's also a perfect venue for strip quilting method. I promise you it eats up scrap better than any quilt I ever made. I emptied out half a big plastic bin of material on this one too large to toss and too small to use on a lot of other things.

Anyone else still affected by Nor’Easter ?

We are still in a winter storm warning until this evening. While we have gotten over 30" in the southern part of the state and in the mountains (ski resorts) in my area it's more like 8-10" so far. Temps are hovering around the freezing mark and the snow is clinging to everything, looking very pretty. I haven't heard of any major power outages although once the snow starts dropping off the trees and the branches bounce back that will likely change. The road crews have been doing a great job as always keeping things clear. With DH away at work I've spent a wonderful day watching the storm, reading and not doing any housework. I hope all the New Englanders are making out alright. Please check in.

Our church is a small country church and the usual number of people that attend is around 100, sometimes less, sometimes more. I am trying to remember what was served last year, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, a fruit cup, toast, muffins, and cold cereal and of course beverages. The church members including the preacher join in the fixing and the serving of it. It is really nice. It is held in the church basement.

It is like family to go there. When we joined the church, our 3 daughters, two of their husbands and me all at the same time, they let us bring our one daughter's two dogs to the event. The dogs were very good and they sat in their puppy stroller. Then the church members surprised us with a nice big supper they had prepared in the church basement. We had went there for a few years before joining as my Mother had been going there for years. Very nice.

I like to work in the kitchen at my church, but unfortunately it is just too early for me on Sunday. I'll be there, just not that early :(

I expect to do so.

"Sunrise" service at 8:00 ... followed by breakfast ... regular service, including communion, at 10:30.

As someone else said ... church should be like larger family: this one is.

Our youth group is putting on a breakfast for who ever wants to eat. Free will donation. This is the 1st year for it. It's to raise some cash for their group entertainment.

Our church always has breakfast after Sunrise service. It has always been a tradition for the men of the church to do the cooking. Not this year though because of lack of interest (tis sad). We are just having continental style breakfast.

I will attend the 6:30 sunrise service and then start helping out with breakfast at 7:30. I am bringing 2 dozen muffins to the breakfast. Our church is so large that we have a 6:30 and a 7:30 sunrise service put on my the youth.

Our church had breakfast on Palm Sunday, sponsored by the Sunday School. Tomorrow night there is a seder meal with our sister congregation, and there will be communion at the Service on Easter Sunday.

I just looked at our church bulletin and it says Sunrise Service at 7:30. Breakfast at 8:30. Worship Service at 9:45. I think I will call and see if I can bake anything to have for the breakfast, like maybe muffins.

Our church is very much our extended family. We will have breakfast between SS and the church service. The pastor and I are making homemade sausage biscuits and cinnamon rolls. We used to just make the rolls, but so many of the congregation are diabetic, that we have added the sausage biscuits as well!

No..our Church doesn't have Easter breakfast as far as I know.
