Question - double wedding ring patterns

Looking at the antique quilts posting, I'm wondering about the cornerstone parts of this block. In the picture they are different colors, pink and blue. In the instructions I copied from the web, they are the same so the finished four patch looks all one. I've started with that premise but wonder if most are using two colors.

Do any of you have more of these quilts and are your corner pieces all the same color? I still have time to change this restoration which gets cornerstones starting today.

Any pictures out there?

Guess I should have googled this first. Lots of pictures all over and I see now that I'd better rework my kitted blocks to have two colors. Not sure what color to use with what I'm making but I'll figure out something.

Don't mind me - its' still early in California and I haven't had my coffee yet.

Here is a picture of the DWR that I made for my DD and DSIL.
I used two colors for the cornerstones.

Hi Patrick, when I mentioned fertilzing once a month, it's mainly because her class load is so heavy. She loves what she's doing but gets very little time to goof off. I can talk with her about how to set up more frequent feeding; maybe an auto reminder on her e-mail would work (or her mother could just nag her :) ) Water of course will be more frequent, my DH is set to repair the drip system at her place. It's there, but the previous owners didn't care for their things well. We're going to go easy on the landscaping, but she bought some fuschias, and they looked great last weekend. The front of the house has old fashioned cala lilies that are volunteers, and we bought her a passifloria last weekend to twine up her front steps. The rainy season has started early here, and I hope it lasts. So, I think I'll start hunting down Creamsickle; it sounds just right for her. My next post will be to ask about reliable ebay sellers (and those to stay away from).

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. My daughter was married 2 years ago. She has the same glasses that you are considering. She also has square shaped dinner plates. They are Noritake's Colorwave series. She chose their graphite color but their are lots of fun colors, as well as white and cream. You can buy pieces individually or place settings. Lots of options for mixing and matching too. My daughter was also registered at a department store and it was there that she received tremendous help from the wedding registry sales associate. The clerk put together various options for dishes, glassware, flatware and placemats. It was helpful to see the items laid out together on a table. See if someone at BB&B can help you this way or go to a major department store. You can be registered at more that one place. My daughter found that the department stores ran some very good sales on her registry items which resulted in better prices than BB&B even using one of their coupons (which not all guests will know about). I think it depends too on which of the many varitions of the double wedding ring quilt you are planning on doing. There's one with very round joined circles, theres one with squarish circles, there's one with the long thin curved as a single piece instead of four or five pieces. I also think it depends upon your frustration level. Some folks like a challenge and some find it rather daunting to even think about doing something with curved pieces. There's also fabric to consider. The better the quality I think the easier it is to sew and cut. So if you think you are ready for it I say go for it.

Question! Type of Kitchen Window (Casement vs. Double Hung)??

We had a similar decision to make except that the casements were to open into a screened porch and we were concerned that while on the porch, people might run into them. We have double hung windows with grills on the top half all throughtout our home but I didn't want my sink centered on a middle piece of wood between two casements. Was just something I didn't personally like for our kitchen. We then saw a similar window to what is in my most recent post which has sliders where the side casements usually are and a large picture window in the middle. WE LOVE IT because it gives us unobstructed view, still has the venting options, screens are on the outside and we felt that having the option of the grills on the side windows, helped it to look more traditional like the rest of the windows in our home....our window is one of the best choices we made - we just love it! that's inspiring, Linda. The colors blend with the curve so nicely. I'm using strips already made in the 30s so colors are very scrappy and I have no choice. I just picked two cornerstones that look best with the bands I've been handed. They aren't true curves and won't look nicely circular but can't help that. My cousin will love it.

I like your quilting and may copy a motif here and there if I may.

Oh those are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been thinking of making a DWR for years, I love them. I bought E. Burns 'Egg Money Quilts' with a DWR in mind. She has a Christmas table topper that has 1 color corners.
Many of the antique ones looked scrappy and had 4 different fabrics for the cornerstones.
IMO either way is gorgeous!!!

I plan to start with a topper.

Linda, I've never made a DWR, but if you want to make it traditional, from what I've seen, there are 2 fabrics.

Beautiful quilts!! I would love to do a DWR, but I don't think my skill level is ready for that! Maybe in a few years....

I have misplaced my book with the double wedding ring pattern. My quilt pattern had very small pieces; 9 pieces formed the arch alternating pattern fabrics with solids. Can someone help me find such a pattern or will the directions for the DWR using larger pieces work for piecing my nearly completed quilt?
