I got a new toy yesterday!!

My dh was soooo sweet and said go for it! So, I'm now the proud owner of a new Brother Duetta 4500D. It's really hard to be at work today with it sitting at home. The way this week is looking, I'll be lucky to turn it on! I had ordered a machine on eBay at Christmas (much smaller machine), but it turned out to be a scam and I never received the machine. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed, but I'm glad that wasn't meant to be. I'll have some training the end of next week on how to use all the features. I had 10 year old embroidery machine that I traded in as well. It was really giving me grief and I'm sure dh was tired of hearing me fuss about it.

I looked up your new machine - did you see there is a $100 rebate if you bought it this week?
I remember you mentioning a new machine at Christmas -buying on machines Ebay scares me, although I know people get great deals.
So glad you got what you really wanted.

Mine is new last year and just a great hosta! It finally got planted a week or so ago after living in a pot since last summer. The emerging shoots are very pretty with their colour and shape...you have some fun to look forward to. It would appear to be a good grower and is not fussy about sun exposure - it takes whatever it has to. A great hosta, not to mention good looks! This pic taken minutes ago..H.'Wheee!'

Howdee there Thanks for posting the pic. That looks just like it :) Only have like 500 miles on it so not totally sure what the milage per gallon is. I'm thinking like 18-20 mpg. It is a 6 cil. motor. 4x4. its so great to drive. Really smooth ride and it will climb a tree I think it has so much power and soooooooooooo much room. I love those! Right after attempting my first project using pins, I stole the magnet wand from my son's toybox. I keep it by the machine, and as I pull the pins out of the fabric, I practically "toss" them to my side and on to the magnet. I don't even have to look where I'm tossing. (Though maybe I should look every now and then.) I want to get one of those big magnet pincushions. But they are 12 bucks here. And stealing my son's toy was free. :-) francy

Wes has one; a mega 64-something, it-does-everything model. He downloads a lot of pod-casts on hunting dogs, training hunting dogs, fishing, and hunting, etc. He's also taking "Speak German" iPod lessons. He has all our photos and music in it. I got him a Bose docking station/speakers. It sounds awesome. He downloads the Prairie Home Companion pod cast each week and we listen to it in the den. I want one of my own. I would put my every-growing collection of audio books in it. I'd get a small docking station so I could carry it around the house and out to the garden as I do chores and "stuff." I listen to the audio books this way now, but I have to carry the bigger CD player and keep changing the discs. I don't like wearing ear buds. I want an iPod, or an iPad.

Congratulations!! It sounds like you have good support with this machine which you probably wouldn't had from e-bay so I think you are lucky. Have fun and good luck. Jayne

Congratulations! The best part of a new machine are getting the lessons and learning all the tricks. Or a lot of them. I never can remember all I've been shown.

Thanks, everyone! I had to work until 8pm last night, so I didn't get a chance to even turn it on. Maybe I'll get a chance this evening? My dd is 8 and really liked the built in Disney stuff. I'm sure she will think of something that I need to make with them :-)
