Gunite issue - Advice, please.

Gunite was applied 5 days ago. I have wet it down daily, as instructed. Today, I noticed that pieces around the edge of the steps and tanning ledge are just falling off. Nothing major, but like small chunks around the edges. Of a more major concern is the huge crack on the wall behind the tanning ledge. It's like a 8" gash in the wall, with the widest most area looking almost like an actual hole. I have contacted PB, but wanted your advice just to keep them in check. Is this normal or should some repair be made prior to plaster?

I wouldn't lose any sleep over the edge of a step crumbling off, it's actually really better that it loses it's adhesion now before plastering.
But, like Chris, I'd really like to see the gash before making a comment on it.
My guess is that it's no big deal. Probably something like the guniting nozzle or a large trimming trowel accidentally hitting the wall and leaving an indentation while loading up the tools of the trade.

Following up to post what happened... They ended up chiseling out and further recessing the jets that were higher on the spa (not enough room to fill with plaster due to the waterline tile). They filled in more plaster material around the lower jets. It looks fine visually, but we haven't yet been able to try them out since they are still finishing up some other things. The jet niches looked a little odd in the pictures above because they had duct tape covering them from when the pool was shot. The one uncovered picture had part of the fitting in place already (so wasn't just the niche piece). The pool builder did go over the jet heights with us prior to installation and the heights were as expected (other than the one that ended up a tad high and just overlapped the pool tile). Our main issue was the fact the spa wall was shot too deep and then adjusting the wall depth caused more issues. They are working to make sure everything is fine for us. Hopefully no one else has this issue, but if you do you can see what they did in our case. If we have issues with the jets I will post more, but at this point I'm expecting the issue has been resolved.

I'd wager 3 to 1 the shower door frame is the source of leak but on site examination is the only way to know. I have dealt with many shower doors over the years and wouldn't alow one installed in my home if you paid for it. At minium shower doors are difficult to keep clean,then there's the leaking problems. If it were simple everone would be in the remodeling, plumbing and tile business. Does the wall get wet after every shower? If not the leak may have been fixed by your earlier attempts.

Consult with an attorney and have them send the letter. Not your husband. Find an attorney that is familiar with the laws of the state regarding contractor requirements. States and county laws and requirements vary nationwide. I would demand a refund.

I really don't think that water temperature influences your toilet's ability to flush. Most likely an obstruction of some type. Is your tank flapper opening fully allowing the tank to empty? How long has this been going on? Any hints beforehand of this or was the onset sudden?
