I have no help to offer on the slippers.

The jars? Donate them to Goodwill, or recycle them. I am a canner, but when I need new/more jars I buy them new. They are inexpensive compared to my effort in canning. I want to know they haven't been abused before I put effort and produce in them.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of house slippers you want, but if you will search for "How to Make House Slippers" I think you may be able to find what you need. It looks like many people use fleece.

I googled "slipper patterns to knit" and there were a lot of free patterns. You would know best what the slippers looked like. You can also find crochet patterns.

Plus ... stuff keeps for quite a while in the fridge - tape a big date on it before you put it in, if you're getting forgetful.

Avoid the much-later-furry-residue, that way.

Pinterest and Squidoo have some really neat ideas for using canning jars. I've found several dozen ideas that are very clever, especially the ones for giving as gifts.

What about Freecycle or just put them out with a free sign on them?

I think some of us are confused. Were the slippers made of double knit fabric or hand knitted? And are the canning jars used, never used, still in the box?

I'm keeping all kinds of stuff in quart size canning jars.
Little marshmallows, pasta, gold fish crackers.......

Thanks for the feedback. I have canisters for storing marshmallows, sugars, etc. These are good jars - NO mayo jars, etc - and I've checked the tops for chips. So they are safe to use for canning. I just don't need them as my family is grown. I'll check into the "craft" ideas &/or baking.

RE: the house slippers. MIL made them, for the most part, from double knit fabric. I don't knit or crochet. Also have some fleece I wanted to use up so will look further into Google with the link given. I did a quick look at it. These are above the ankle, but it looks like that sight might also have some more like what I'm hunting.

Do you still have an old one of those slippers, you could rip the seams and use that as a pattern? The Adult polar fleece slipper pattern looks like a good one, very simple.

I always see people asking for canning jars on freecycle. You could wait until you see someone or offer them up?

Do they look like these? (link below the one called Bonza Booties) You could purchase the book I suppose. Have you searched through the popular patterns at places like JoAnn Fabric. You can also find those pattern books on line I just discovered and see if they make a pattern you could buy.

You can search for canning jar gifts... cookies in a jar, soups, etc. They would make great church/charity bazaar sale items.

This wouldn't take care of all the canning jars but I use them for vacuum sealing things as do a lot of people. You could put an ad on Craigslist, Freecycle or the like. Or as mentioned, at a neighbor's sale. Spread the word that you have them. People who can might want them. Some want to use new all the time but frugal folks want used, cheap and free, not necessarily in that order.

I've made the fleece slippers before and my friends loved them.I put that. Jiffygripp stuff on the bottoms so they wouldn't be slippery.I still have my pattern' just can't get to it at the moment.If I remember tomorrow I'll look and let younknow.

Sadly, I do not have one of the slippers to cut apart for a pattern......sure wish I did!
