2 "how do I" questions

A bit of background: My MIL (now deceased) used to make us house slippers each year for Christmas....always knew just how much larger to make them for my boys. She used double knit because that was "the" fabric of the day. Son2 said recently he didn't appreciate them much as a kid but would like a pair now. But I have no idea how she did it. 3 or 4 pieces....if I remember correctly: the sole, 2 sides, & across the top over the toes. Sides may have been all one piece. Does any of this sound familiar? I tried google but all I got was a list of places to BUY slippers.

I have over 9 doz quart regular top canning jars. What in the world do I do with some of them? Have advertised to sell for much less than the box stores (so far, no takers but maybe when canning season starts). I'm not going to can in reg. mouth quarts (family grown, can in pts) Any suggestions appreciated!

TIA for any help/suggestions.
