Thank you for your response, Annie. I've been reading your old posts and so appreciate the way you share your expertise! I've been resistant to dummy panels because it seems like drawing the curtains at night will make the room feel warmer. Nonfunctional panels seem a little strange to me to be honest - although they are beautiful in many traditional homes, I've never had them because it seems (probably naively) to be a little "fake." Also, just to add complication, we need blinds that can cover a 92 inch wide window in the kitchen nook immediately off the living room. Apparently most roller shades and blinds do not come this wide. Thank you again! I'll try to post pics when I'm home from work.

Just an opinion here :) I've done the one drape thing many times, and will do so again in my master when I'm finished, but I think there is a couple of key issues with one drape that you're not going to have. First, you don't see one drape hung straight as you'd like. It's just not done. You see the top spread over the window area and then the soft drape to a tie back. Either a tie back or a softer treatment using a loop on the bottom corner of the drape and hooking it up on the wall about half way (sounds funny but basically it is like when you pull the comforter back half way at a hotel so you can see the bedding and the comforter). I can take a pic later since this is what I have in my master bath. The second look is more modern, but needs to be done only on a square window. The long windows give too much drape for the clean look. In your case, given your preference for modern clean lines, I honestly wouldn't do one drape on those windows surrounding the TV. You need a drape on both sides of the window and the span is too far for one rod. It will look odd, hung at the right height or not. But on the far wall where your windows are closer I would give the one rod idea a try. I think if you do a nice clean lined drape on each side of those windows it will have the feel of a finished single window treatment. I'd hang some art in between myself, but that's for you to decide obviously :) But on the TV....you need two drapes on each side. I don't see any way around this. You didn't ask, (in this thread) but I didn't get a chance to reply about the cornices. I LOVED those fabric covered boxes with the nail heads. In your room I could easily see those over your windows done in either a chocolate dupioni or a gorgeous texturous linen. Honestly I think your room is able to take the softer look of a single draped curtain if they're the right ones. Your style isn't "that" modern. It's clean lined, and lovely (i love the room) but it's rather transitional. I think gorgeous chocolate dupoini's draped to each side of the windows with a simple tie back would be fab. Something like a heavy cord, but no tassels, or big soft gold chain (ie lamp chain) on a nice hook (antique gold in color) etc. And that's my opinion for what it's worth :oP

I sent a bunch of pics to DH at work (I'm sure he was not too pleased.... ). Now he says he still likes what we ordered (khaki stripe) and is not a fan of the floral, although he liked the picture from annz. He liked how the drapes opened to both sides, which is not an option for us because of the fireplace. We already placed the order with JCP, but you have 72 hours to make changes/cancellations. That means I need to do something tonight. We've been in this house since March and we both just want to get something on the windows! I was so excited about decorating a new house, but now I just hate the entire process. I really think DH and I should both LOVE whatever we decide on. He says to just get what I want (probably because he is tired of me bothering him for his opinion), but it is his house too and I don't want to get something that he won't like (just like I wouldn't want him to get something that he knows I don't like). I feel an order cancellation coming on.

Long day! I returned all the trial drapes and went to Linen and Things, Sears, JCPenney's, RH AND Pottery Barn!!! The first 4 stores - really carry mostly silky, shiny drapes - but I did see the ones lyban suggested - and I like them a lot. They are much darker than the cream, but I ordered them anyway - just to try. I really loved the leaf ones that Les suggested (from Penney's) but they don't carry them in any lengths longer then 95". I might as well get it right at this point! Looked at Pottery barn & Restoration hardware... Pottery barn is a LOT less expensive - but RH were nicer in feel and color, so I ordered them as well! I still have other fabric swatches coming in, including the other one Les suggested... THIS IS A LOT OF WORK!!! LOL DH doesn't like the cream... likes the darker gold better, but now that I have been staring and staring at it... here are my thoughts. The darker gold just wasn't doing it for me - guess that's why I painted over it in the first place! I Did/do still like the terra-cotta, but now that the cream is there, it is more an "airy", "lighter" feel, plus the accessories do look better. It's a keeper for me - and I'll be posting new pictures tomorrow. Found another console table lamp... it's different, and I paused for a long while before putting it in my shopping cart. I should have paused a bit longer and left it at the store - it's ugly and one of those "What was I thinking?". It's already back in the car to return. :( johnatemp, what a great idea - that could really add a lot... now just need the panels! annz, I moved and added a few things around. Still need to find some larger items.... which I was "I dream of Jeanie" and could nod my head a bit and have it done!! Oh well...
