Do the majority of the windows face north by any chance?

Schoolhouse is dealing with the same issue in her kitchen.

funcolors, they face south I believe.

fwiw, it looks like some of the pics in the blog link also have blue reflection...esp the 1st kitchen pic, the kitchen with the black and white floor, and the last bathroom pic...

don't have any solution for you---i would doubt superwhite would make a difference, but i'm not an expert! i have not seen white walls with blue ceiling in person.
hope you can remedy this...it's always so frustrating(but a common experience!) when things don't turn out as you expect with paint...

I have read that the gloss of cabinets can make a ceiling color reflect on walls, so that might be part of the issue, but what type of paint did you use on the ceiling? Did you tint ceiling paint or also use flat wall paint on the ceiling?

I forgot to add to my post - maybe post this to the paint forum too. And if you have a good paint store in your area call them up or bring them some pictures. One of our local paint stores charges a small fee to send a color expert to your home and friends of mine have used this service when they just couldn't get the look they wanted on their own.

My paint store was a big help when I had a paint disaster.

I have pickled maple cabinets and dove white woodwork. Then we painted the walls a yummy buttery yellow--and my cabinets turned pink! Now I happen to love pink, but not for my kitchen cabinets!

I took photos and brought the pics to my local Sherwin-Williams. They had seen this before, they said, and recommended "Biscuit," which falls between off-white and tan.

Ah. My cabinets returned to their lovely creamy color. Whew.

One thing I can tell you is that when paint first goes up on the walls, we look at it with a magnifying glass, notice every subtle detail, and sometimes fret over the decisions we've made. My bet is that all of those kitchens in your inspiration pictures are doing the reflection thing, too, to a greater or lesser degree. I also bet half of the homeowners were a bit freaked when they noticed it. Perhaps half of them decided to repaint and half stopped seeing it with such acuity after a week or so.

I guess what i am saying is that the only way to solve the "problem" is to paint the ceilings a much paler blue, or paint the walls something other than white, or just see if you get used to it. Choosing color is almost always a matter of some compromise. We can't get what we want all the time. My feeling is that the blue ceiling is such a fabulous look, I'd live with a little blue on the walls. But everyone is different. You have to figure out what you can live with. I'd give it a week or two and see how you feel.

I see the reflection in several of those photos... I agree with amysrq... you are probably seeing it with too critical an eye. Invite some friends over, and then the next day (when they're not at your house), ask them if they saw a blue reflection. They will probably say they didn't notice.

In our master we have blue carpet and blue grasscloth on one wall..everything else is white including the bedding. And at first it seemed like the blue turned all the white light blue, the effect you're having with your rooms.

But now...the effect has faded, at least to me. I probably just don't notice it anymore. In the end, I love that room and it makes it all a little more cohesive, actually.

I wish I was the only one who "sees" this, but my painter brought it to my attention first (I had already left the house before they were finished). Since it is my summer house I only go down once a week to see progress. Then a couple of days later my GC called and told me I should come down and see my walls. When I asked what the problem is, he said there is a reflection of my ceiling making the walls blue and that I'm not going to like it. He also told me he hasn't seen it this bad ever on a blue/white combo like this. I guess I'm going to have to see what happens when the furniture goes in. And we haven't stained the floors yet, maybe the darker stain will balance or bounce off the blue. I really hope this is the case.

It's the way sunlight plays off the ceiling. Blinds can redirect the incoming light downward. A paler blue on the ceiling would help too. Changing your wall white won't fix the problem.

Check to see what it looks like at night too to make sure you like the look in artificial light.

I've had this problem before with floors: the delicate wall colors I picked looked ghastly when sunlight bounced off the strongly colored floors.
