What's For Supper On Thursday?

We are having grilled chicken breasts, green beans, and sweet potatoes for supper. We will also have fresh iced tea. There is still some dessert if he wants some and he will. I have been shopping for groceries today. Not too many bargains. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts were $1.74 a pound and green grapes were $.97 a pound. I also bought two lilac tablecloths half price, one round for the kitchen table and one 102 inches long for my dining room table. They can be used for any spring meal not just Easter. It is getting colder out and breezy. Sure a big change from the 70's we had.

Thanks GM. Since you were less than thrilled with it, I won't bother trying it. You're a terrific cook, and I trust your instincts. I think reading the comments is the best part of online recipes. One recipe recently had just a few ingredients, minced garlic, worcestershire, some regular spices and a couple of other things and one reader complained there were too many ingredients. I commented that who doesn't have garlic, worcestershire and the basic spices on hand. I still laugh when I remember one commenter for a slow-cooker recipe. She said that she was horrified when all the liquid was pooling on the lid and dripping down onto the meat. She set the lid ajar to finish cooking and it was much better! LOLOL

I had left over Cobb salad from lunch today. We couldn't play golf today because of the weather so eight of us met for lunch. It was a friends birthday so I baked some carrot cake muffins and brought them for a treat. Nice to have leftovers ready for dinner tonight because I'm leaving shortly to go play Mexican train.

I put chicken legs and boneless thighs in the crock pot this morning with BBQ sauce and had egg noodles, brussel sprouts and the always applesauce . We just recently had ham bbq so I was surprised the kids ask for bbq chicken. well at least they wanted something easy Lol. I don't know what I'm having tomorrow maybe fish. I also want to make apple slab pie.I seen it over in cooking and it looks yummy. I'm actually headed over there in a few to learn how to make pie crust. I ddon't like to cook, but I have to so I try to do it well. I just could never make a decent crust. I hope thats about to change. LOL

I started with the idea of chicken-something. I saw plain yogurt and thought Tandoori Chicken, but found I was out of tandoori paste, but found a jar of Moroccan habibi sauce, and forged on with a plan to make Habibi Chicken. For a side then obvious choice would then be Couscous with vegetables, but I found I was out of couscous as well, but I had pearled barley left from a Blue Apron recipe I didn't make, so I cooked that, added cooked red pepper, zucchini, and mushrooms in a butter and lemon sauce. For being a total improv, it turned out pretty good.

Grilled half turkey breast that was honey brined, with boiled new potatoes tossed with butter and fresh parsley and green beans basted with an herb basting oil.
Dessert is left over Boston cream pie.

I'm going to be lazy and make an egg sandwich on a bagel thin, and a cup of beans. And then later is Survivor!!!

Getting much colder here on the eastern side of Ohio.

Friend is getting me a gift certificate for our favorite Mexican place for doing some work for him, so, if I get that today, it will be Mexican tonight. Looking forward to it. We haven't been in there for ages.

Going out for a free dinner tonight, free dinner last night and free dinner Saturday night. This just happens to be a social week for me.

Sloppy Joe sandwiches, oven French fries, baked beans and chocolate pudding.Not in a cooking mode today.

dinner for lunch, out, per usual.

Dined with 3 other friends for 2 1/2 hours.

I had lemon chicken orzo soup.

Marilyn, I did not say what else we shared.

We had hummus as a starter, and shared cheesecake with caramel sauce on the side and strawberry slices.

I brought home most of the soup and put in freezer.

Went to our famous Greek dodiyo's restaurant.
