What's For Supper, Thursday?

I made a great big pan of Italian stuffed peppers, and sent them all home with Amber for their supper. I am not hungry so didn't keep any out for me. There are also a couple of stuffed summer squash in there too. They are stuffed with spaghetti, Italian sausage, zucchini, onion, garlic, sauce and mozzerella cheese in and on top. I used big red peppers cut in half lengthwise and baked them slowly. They smelled good. She just came and picked them up. Do you know what you are having?

It's too hot to do much cooking...I fried up a couple small ham steaks, served with some potato salad and sliced tomatoes and a couple rolls left over from a company meal I served on Tuesday. It was good. Dottie

Yum, everything sounds so good! I love that fundraiser idea, Bob. Was everything delicious? Nicole, your supper sounds great; absolutely like something that I would fix. I've found a couple of recipes and may try one this weekend. Party, I've tried to like Buffalo chicken wings but I don't care for the sauce. I love grilled chicken wings, though, sprinkled with some cayenne! The bleu cheese dressing is a perfect foil for something spicy. I like celery sticks with it, too. Jasdip....there's no way that your supper wasn't delicious! I can almost taste it, now.

Thanks GM. Since you were less than thrilled with it, I won't bother trying it. You're a terrific cook, and I trust your instincts. I think reading the comments is the best part of online recipes. One recipe recently had just a few ingredients, minced garlic, worcestershire, some regular spices and a couple of other things and one reader complained there were too many ingredients. I commented that who doesn't have garlic, worcestershire and the basic spices on hand. I still laugh when I remember one commenter for a slow-cooker recipe. She said that she was horrified when all the liquid was pooling on the lid and dripping down onto the meat. She set the lid ajar to finish cooking and it was much better! LOLOL

Breakfast like a king and sup like a pauper, they say is the best way, I've read this too, and I think it's a wonderful idea since we need more energy during the day, and often less at night, but DH and I have no time for it, sadly! Dinner last night was baked salmon with basil pesto (made it in the nick of time before the frost got all my lovely basil!), on a bed of mashed potatoes, with steamed cauliflower and broccoli. I was too tired to make a salad. Breakfast was 'nothing' (oh, bad!), lunch was the other half of DH's sandwich eaten quickly at my desk.

I put chicken legs and boneless thighs in the crock pot this morning with BBQ sauce and had egg noodles, brussel sprouts and the always applesauce . We just recently had ham bbq so I was surprised the kids ask for bbq chicken. well at least they wanted something easy Lol. I don't know what I'm having tomorrow maybe fish. I also want to make apple slab pie.I seen it over in cooking and it looks yummy. I'm actually headed over there in a few to learn how to make pie crust. I ddon't like to cook, but I have to so I try to do it well. I just could never make a decent crust. I hope thats about to change. LOL

Smoked sausage, fried potatoes and pickled beets. We even had cake and Edy's tart honey yogurt blend ice cream for dessert. The honey yogurt stuff was pretty tasty. The smoked sausage came from a local company and would have been really good, but it was HOT sausage. And I do mean hot!

Your stuff peppers sound good. Bet the house smelled wonderful!

Cleaned out the fridge and made one of "those" casseroles. Friday is usually EMFH night (every man for himself) but I have a class tonight and needed to whip something up fast. Let's see, squash, peas, corn, onions, broccoli, pasta, rice, steak, parsley, basil, thyme, olives, mixed with cream of celery soup and topped with sharp cheddar cheese. Lots of stuff came from the garden. It's really too hot to cook, but every suggestion I throw out about dinner is usually not met with enthusiasm. I have stuff in the garden that is finally coming on, and DH steams squash! Sigh.... Offered to do stuffed peppers, or to stuff some spaghetti squash, but that hasn't sent anyone into bliss yet.
