pls show me tv in master bedroom
Comments (34)"Plus, sleep and marriage experts generally recommend to save the bedroom for sleep and sex, and since one statistic showed couples with TVs in the bedroom have half as much sex as couples without TVs in the bedroom" Really??? I don't know who these "experts" interviewed, but I can assure you that the tv has never presented a problem in the intimacy department in my own home. Also, I find it sad these so called "experts" deem the bedroom as the only suitable room for sex in one's home. IMO, lack of imagination, or perhaps some other undisclosed "issues" in the marriages of those who were interviewed by these "experts" seem to be the more likely intervening factor. Our bedroom tv sits on a bookcase on the wall across from our bed, since DH uses the armoire for storing some off season clothing....See MorePlease help with my open floor plan color scheme!
Comments (4)I GOT SO LOST IN looking at your wonderful house and the view!! Are you near the water maybe, and up high?. I couldnt tell what i saw out there. Gorgeous! Anyway. I think you've nailed it on the brown for the dining area, especially with the lighter floors. The entry door? I also like that deep brown against the brick but you COULD do a deep purple/violet or eggplant there but with the gold in the side light...hmmm. Do I see a burgundy swatch on the kitchen wall? That might look nice. As far as the prints on mantel. I see something more abstract with some color and rounded or wispy shapes to contrast all the straight lines I see, and keep the prints propped in various sizes, 3 of them since you have '2 of' of other things there. Maybe you should build a built in lower bookcase/console unit that would match the trim and put the TV on that where the tv is now. I dont think it should be any higher than the top of the inside of the firebox so your TV would still stay at an eye level. Thats all i have for you right now. Good luck....See MoreOver Open Plan! Help PLEASE
Comments (59)Annie, love the pics. Really like the background colour above the stone and fireplace too...a little inspired by how well it works with black and white...hmmm We do have flea markets and garage sales - sadly they aren't very promising mostly. I go to flea markets and thrift stores all the time but you are more likely to find a velvet purple Elvis picture with plastic frame than anything else! Australia doesn't have a lot of history the way the States and UK do. Big cities like Melbourne and Sydney are different and better but pricey for anything nice. Gringe huh? Sounds like a Dr Seuss colour! And you are right, maybe a little muddy for me. I think I am liking a colour a bit like Annie's! Maybe a bit lighter as it such a big space and I have strong colour in all the bedrooms. Thanks again! Will try the rug too. Off to the shops feeling inspired! Will report back...See MorePlease critique this open-plan kitchen (Florida)
Comments (42)I guess it depends on what you consider the better view and the prime location? I have a window with a great view above my prep area which I only look out when I need to pause for a quick break from chopping or to figure out my next step. I don't like to talk much or gaze at views much while prepping after I almost lost the tip of a finer once while doing that. My brain can't handle visiting while prepping because then I either leave out ingredients or just plain keep forgetting where I'm at. It takes 2-3 times as long for me to prep if I'm visiting or window-gazing. I'd rather focus on the prep and get it done. Family knows to limit interactions with me while prepping beyond quick statements. That's simply not a good time for me to chat. If we're entertaining, I choose menus that don't require last minute prep/cooking just to avoid having to prep and visit at the same time. And, like cpartist, I prefer to wash, slide food to prep, then slide food to cook. I don't like carrying prepped food across the floor either Someday, my clean-up sink will be on my peninsula facing my dining table. This was the best place for me to be able to keep my DW open while cooking. Since I tend to plop things in when done with it while prepping and cooking, most dirty items will already be in the DW before sitting down to a meal. After eating, I'll be able to stand at the dining table and just pick up plates, turn and place them next to the clean-up sink without walking anywhere. Quick and easy. Then dishes will immediately be scraped and put in the DW. If the DW is full, it will be a quick scrape before setting them in my 32" wide, 9" deep sink. I figure this will hide them pretty well from any visitors until the DW is free. And I can scrape and load while visiting without losing a finger or trying to remember what needs to be done next. Clean-up is pretty much an auto-pilot activity. Prep is not. At least not for me. So I totally get what cpartist is saying and tend to agree with her. I also recognize that this is an YMMV thing....See Morejterrilynn
