Well, shoot. That does confuse you when there isn't any answers from the tests. Has he taken any new meds before the light headedness? Not skipping meals? Did his potassium check out okay?

Nope Leslie, nothing new for meds. They checked potassium,sodium,blood sugar and whatever else is tested in the blood and they are all fine, except he is borderline diabetic. He has cut back on the sugar but will not use a sugar substitute and I don't want that artifical crud either. I will go without before using it. He has a little on his oatmeal now, not as much as before.

Has he had a sudden drop in caffeine intake? Sudden curtailment of caffeine will do all sorts of crazy things to your mind and body.

LOL Leslie I forgot to say the man eats like food is going out of style, no missed meals.
Nope Sheila. He was drinking caffine then. Tried a few days of decaf coffee just to see if it was the caffine bothering him and it didn't seem to matter.
The light headedness is not too bad some days and then other days its pretty intense.

Connie, I'm glad his heart checks out fine and I know I preach a lot, but that it is not his heart is not the answer. Too many doctors say they can't find anything wrong, which only means they are not testing for the right thing. Please don't let it end with this and ask the doc to test for anything else it could possibly be or find out what to test for next. Okay, I'll stop preaching now :)

I'm glad his heart is OK. Has he been to a Ear,Nose,Throat specialist yet? Dizziness can be from an ear irritation or infection, or vertigo. Things can be done for all of those, fairly simple things. Hopefully it's just something minor like that, Connie. Good luck!

I'm sorry they haven't come to a conclusion about the dizziness, but glad there are no major heart concerns.
I hope y'all get it figured out soon.

Just adding my special thoughts. Hope they find the source.

Keep an eye on things, my DH passed stress test with flying colors and had heart attack a week later. Not to worry you and pray it's not the heart but those stress test don't always ring true. I'd rather worry you a little rather then let you get lax-ed about the test then if he starts to feeling really bad and because the test said, no problems you just kinda let it go.

Maybe his body just isn't used to the healthy new life style...But thank goodness they found no heart problems...Hope it all passes and he's fine.....

Very good news about his heart! But it is concerning to not know the cause. I am wondering about an inner ear problem, like Flamingo mentioned. You could go to the Mayo Clinic website and type in vertigo and see if the symptoms are similar. Has he been checked for this? I hope you see some good results in the next couple of months regarding his cholesterol and triglycerides so that he won't have to go on medication, and will be further motivated to stick with the eating plan!

I was going to suggest the potential inner ear problem also.
Dr's have to do lots of tests to rule things out, sometimes, rather than being able to pinpoint it directly. Good Luck to you all, in finding out the problem.

DH claims yep they looked in his ears. So I don't think its that. I guess do like the heart doc suggested and continue doing what he is and if its still happening in a few weeks head back in to the clinic.

The good news is the heart isn't obviously injured or defective.

I'm sorry you have to wait a few more weeks for conclusions though. I know how frustrating that can be.

I don't think looking in his ears will tell them too much, Connie. When I was dizzy, the doctor ran me thru a zillion little neurological tests in the exam room, and narrowed it down to an allergy that was affecting my inner ear. Looking in my ears only told him that they were really clean. lol

An ENT specialist may be the way to go.

Well shoot! I thought that would show whether they are infected or not! Grrrr stupid doctors! If it turns out something like this I will be pretty upset. Seems like they should start with the easiest things first! Instead of scaring the pants off you first.

Don't know about the story behind your DH's dizziness, but I was also going to say inner ear. My DD and I both have had dizzy spells and it just about sends us into orbit..or at least that's how we feel. It has something to do with the crystals in the ear canals that move..thus the dizzies. We don't pass out..but have to lay down NOW and let it pass!! I agree...have DH go to ENT doc!!!

The Echocardiogram showed a valve leaking a little, but not enough to do anything about I guess, cause they didn't. Doc gave him Atenlol to try for a month and see how he likes it. It lowers your BP and slows the heart rate.

I am so sorry that you still don't have any answers. It is very frustrating. I hope that the new medicine helps him, and he is better soon. Thanks for the updates. I have been wondering how things were.

Have the Dr.'s checked your DH for Meniere's. I have provided a link for you. My cousin and my Aunt both had this and suffer periods of light headness and dizziness.

I used to be the Queen of dizziness but mine relates back to fluid in my ear. When I was a kid our old family doctor made me take Dristan tablets all time to dry up the fluid. Now just taking a daily diruretic fixed that problem but sometimes I still suffer from serious bouts of vertigo and other times just light headed dizziness. I am prone to ear infections too which doesn't help any.

I hope he your DH finds out what is wrong soon. Feeling light headed and dizzy all the time is not a good way to feel.
