My Explorer averages about 15 miles to the gallon.

I did have an Explorer Sport and got 19 mpg highway.

I switched to an Eclipse, and even though it desperately needs a tune up, I do get 28 mpg!

I have a Dodge Caravan. I checked the mpg when I first got it, but don't remember the numbers. I need a van for my lifestyle, so I'll pay whatever gas costs and whatever the mpg is...well, that's what it is. I'll give up food (which may be a good thing) before I'll stop going whereever I want to go. There's nothing I can do about it.

2004 Explorer...about 17-18 mpg

Gosh, I thought my Explorer Sport was getting 20mpg. Maybe I'm wrong.

Whoops, didn't see "SUV" for some reason. The van is a gas guzzler too, though.

I have a Tahoe, but in our house, whoever is driving the most in a day takes the VW. I get 52 mpg on the hwy in the VW. The Tahoe never goes out of town!

Explorer Sport "Wilderness" (2 door version) gets around 17.5-18 mpg. It gets this consistently and has for 8 years - doesn't matter if the air cleaner is new, just tuned up, etc. It was well know that Ford completely lied about the actual mileage they get. I believe the Sport was advertised as getting in the 20s. The only time I've approached 19-20 was when it was ALL highway miles (like long trips where there was no stopping during an entire tank).

23-25 mpg....it's a 1997 GEO Tracker, built by Suzuki (AKA Suzuki Samuari).

The gas mileage posted on the sticker is usually the one provided by the EPA. One of the problems with their ratings is that they tested the cars on a track without AC or heat or radio and under optimum conditions.

We just bought a Toyota RAV 4 SUV and the sticker says 19/27 which is exactly what Consumer Reports states it should get. CR doesn't rely on the EPA figures and they do they own testing. Our salesman told us that either this model year or next, the EPA is going to release all new mpg numbers on new vehicles that should be closer to what we actually get.

I currently drive a Rendezvous, and I don't know my mileage either. I need it, and am willing to pay, so I don't worry about it. I am thinking of getting a RAV4.

Since I'm in "dog sports" I drive an '03 Chevy Venture Van to haul the dogs and equipment to trials. If I squint, and look at it sideways and lift it a bit, it could be considered an SUV. I usually get between 24-27mpg. It holds 25 gal but at today's prices I only let it get between 1/4 and 1/2 empty before I fill up. It's still a shock at the pump anyway! We live in a very rural area and most of the driving is highway driving, expecially if we need something.

i have the little Lexus RX300 and it gets maybe 20...when I bought it...I could fill it for about 17.00, now it's up to 50.00 GAG, SPIT, PUKE, ICK!!!

I drive an '04 Expedition and have decided to just turn the mileage thingy off. I don't look. I need the car and spend most of my time pretty close to home. But when I was watching it was anywhere between 10-20 mpg depending on the trip and whether or not there was a boat on the back.

07 Nissan Murano. 17 mpg at best.

My FJ Cruiser gets about 15 mpg. But I don't mind, because I do very little driving, and it's more important to me to have something that will cart what I need it to, than something that gets good mileage. It only JUST turned over to 7000 this week, so no matter what I was driving, it wouldn't be making much difference to the environment, the global economy, or my personal economy.

my grand cherokee gets 17.6 mpg city(real time read-out), don't remember highway since my daily commute is city only. my dh has a ford f-150, medium sized truck that only gets 12 mpg.

i am happy w/ my gas mileage, for 18 months i drove hundreds of miles a week and took 2-3 tanks fulls of gas for work. i never had time to turn in my mileage for pay at work (did use on my 07 taxes thou) so 1 tank every 10-12 days is wonderful to me lol. we will be driving to an atlanta vacation this fall and i will rent a hybrid SUV just to try it out.

i am in the market in the next 12 months for a new SUV and was going to get a land rover, range rover sport, until TaTa Motors bought them out and they closed the store near me. who wants a car by TaTa lol?! i am feeling a bit of a need to be more environmental thou so if i find a hyrid SUV suitable i'd consider it. ~ liz

Just returned from filling up my gas tank and it cost me $61.00 for 18 gallons at $3.40 a gallon. I have a Lexus GX470 which is the twin of Toyota's 4 Runner. I never keep track of the mileage because I drive very few miles - I just hit 6000 miles and I've had my car for 13 months. We normally drive my husband's sedan which gets excellent mpg.

It costs me about $70 to fill my Tahoe - more than my weekly grocery bill! Thank goodness I am retired and can stay home.
