What's for dinner tonight?

I'm veering away from my regular Sunday night pasta meal, and we're going to have stuffed peppers, mashed potatoes and broccoli. There are cupcakes for dessert.

Something new for us. Beef cheeks. They are now marinating in white wine, onions, garlic, rosemary, and peppercorns. Will be cooking them in the pressure cooker and making burritos with the meat.

Tamale pie sounds good, Patti. Easy, too. Harry would like it, for sure. I'd love to have some of your turnips and greens, Ruthie. My mother used to cook the roots and throw the green tops away. LOL! Love greens. Your dinner sounds so good, Staci. Do you have a quesadilla maker? Harry loves them, but I have a problem turning them over (and keeping the insides inside). Have you ever posted the cream puff dessert? Sounds decadent, so please share! We are finally getting good tomatoes here, but not in the supermarket, Azzalea. Yesterday we stopped at a farmer's stand and I got 2 big red tomatoes, 3 ears of corn, 1 red pepper and 2 cucumbers for $4.89. Bengardening, those pinwheels must've been a lot of work to make by hand. It reminded me of churros but it was large and coiled around and around. A little taste of heaven, believe me!

Nuked two hot dogs in the microwave and used slices of wheat bread for buns. Just didn't do it for me, they weren't very tasty at all. And as far as whole wheat breads, I like them; but a good ole' white bread hot dog bun would have made them taste a little better. My stomach is protesting already.

Last night on the coast. We're going to a little hole in the wall bar we found in the middle of some seafood processing plants. They make everything from scratch and everything is so good. We decided to have our last meal here there. We will split an order of handmade jalepeno poppers and I am going to have handmade onion rings and grilled halibut. I think hubby is planning on fish and chips. One good thing about going home is that we'll be back to consuming fewer calories, more veggies and no deep fried foods. I love anything deep fried, but I know it's not good for me or my figure. :-)

I'm still getting an occational asperagus spear from the garden, but I haven't cooked any of them yet. I eat them raw, standing up in the kitchen after I bring in whatever I've picked. Leftover enchiladas for me tonight. Last night for them. Have no idea what I'll make tomorrow but all the bbq talk on recent threads made me, I'm sure, buy a pack of pork ribs the other day. Maybe I should thaw them out tonight.

Pork chop and apple bake with basmati rice and corn. Yogurt and fruit for dessert.

Pork roast (tried to find a cheap, fatty one as some of you suggested for a juicier roast...got a fatty one, not so cheap, though), potatoes, onions, celery cooking in the crockpot. Will add some frozen brocali/cauliflower and carrots toward the end of cooking. I thought I had a bag of carrots but didn't.

I have some boneless pork chops marinating in some brown sugar, dehydrated onion, molasses, olive oil, garlic and balsamic vinegar. Those will be grilled. We are also having a potato casserole...frozen shredded hash browns, cheese, sour cream, milk and cream of something soup. We will probably also have some artichokes.

My sister is here and most likely my brother will show up. I love cooking Sunday dinners and this is the second in a row that I have cooked a big dinner.

Roast beef, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and onions and gravy and probably a side of some kind of veggie.

I haven't cooked a roast beef in years and my mouth is watering from the wonderful smell coming from the oven.

We usually eat big suppers on Sunday. Its the day I have the most time to cook. I took it easy tonight.

Cream of Cabbage and Ham soup and egg salad and ham salad for sandwiches.

Hubby is gone so I don't have to cook for a few days.. He left Thursday and will be back tomorrow. Then he leaves again on Tuesday and will be back Sunday ( probably).. Nice break.......

On way to theatre, friend and I stopped at The Village Tavern for brunch.
I had a brie and applewood bacon omelet, and friend had shrimp and grits.

I am posting on Monday morning,but yesterday we had this.
We have a great place called "The White House'.They serve chicken and dressing on Sunday.We went there and got a take out.Oh mind let me tell you they know how to cook.We love eating there.YOu get in line and just tell them what you want.Today they had chicken and dressing,fried chicken,steak-n-onions,fried porkchops,green beans,corn,turnip greens,fried orka,mac-n-cheese,cornbread,rolls,peach cobbler.Oh yes gravy to go over chicken dressing and Cranberry sauce.It was so so so good.I told them the cook the best food.You can get a meat and two vegs for 4.95.Well worth the money.I could eat ever day.
