I considered that same shower when I was designing my dog room. The quotes to create it were VERY costly because the whole thing needed to be built, waterproofed, etc. Even building a shower pan is quite in depth. I don't think this would be what you are looking for since it is only for the dogs, not for us to rinse off in, but this was what we did: Are you planning on having your dog crate built or are you going to use a regular dog crate that slides in? I have a huge laundry room with so much space that I constantly leave piles of dirty clothes "waiting" to go into the wash. The piles have turned into a mountain, and after I consulted a professional organizer for our upcming remodel, she laughed and said that if I had even half the space in my laundry room for dirty clothes, I would be forced to keep up with it. She immediately recommended I make my laundry room single purpose -- and much smaller. Exactly like your space. So, whether you have the large square footage or not, you'll learn YOU have more to do with your laundry than the room it is in. GOOD LUCK! PS: I have four young kids, so the laundry mountain might never appear in your home!

I also would advise just doing the wood flooring throughout. If you get good, high end materials wood is surprisingly durable and the new technologies make it a lot more maintenance-free than past products. FWIW I also live in Florida and have engineered HW floors throughout my house including the kitchen and our DR which has French doors that lead to the backyard, and which is the main entry area for most of my foot traffic. Haven't had any problems with dirt or moisture anywhere. Also, if you may be thinking resale it will be a lot more desirable to have the same nice flooring throughout the house. Someday you may have buyers who look askance at two sections of a house with different floors, especially since you say your choice is somewhat unique and would be hard to match down the road. So my advice is get a rug for the craft room and a leak-proof pan for your washer and go with the hardwood. Ann

Sorry this post got overlooked. I am seeing a very long kitchen. Do you have the total length written anywhere? I also see you are removing 103" of wall going into the dining room. You say you are removing the wall between the kitchen and the 18 x 10 space, too. But the bathroom is part of that area, so the wall has to stay for the bathroom, right? Given that a bank of windows appears to start right after the bathroom, it seems that the only way to expand the bathroom is toward the left, right? I would expand it three feet out - enough that a tub/shower combo can be put on the upper wall of the bathroom with a 2 ft wide linen closet next to it. That makes the bathroom spacious. Then along the wall to the left, in the 18 x 10 space, I would put a series of 12" to 18" deep pantries with cupboard doors that open. These are 6 ft of 12" deep ones I had in my previous house, and they were easy to use and nothing got lost in them.I put in that high workstation at 40" for when I needed to do any delicate work. It turned out that the dogs could not jump that high and it became the place to set pies and the like! The cupboard on the far end, facing us, is 2 ft deep and was the vacuum/broom/mop/recycling cabinet. Since you have so much room, one like that and another one with shelves for appliances would be nice to have. Putting them along the wall means that you can walk right past the bank of them and they will serve as walls of the hallway to the laundry room. You have so many windows along the right side of this room that I wonder where the laundry can be. Can you do a drawing of that end of the space, including the door to the garage and all windows? Be sure to specify the height of the bottom of the windows, too. In the kitchen area, what is the height of the bottom of the windows on the right side wall? Can you put a 38" high counter under them, with cabinets? Specify this for all the windows in the kitchen area, please. Are you completely open to the plumbing being wherever someone places it, or do you want to preserve some of the existing plumbing? If the later, please draw in where sinks, toilets, and any other plumbing already exists. My answer will bump this to the top, and others will be able to see it.
