I love how you repurposed things. You made the headboard. Fabulous! The room looks great so far. This is not a 'cookie cutter' room. Painting the ceiling was a bold move that works in this setting. I hope you keep us posted with the final results.

I don't know if you would consider it, but rather than a blue grey for the accent, I wonder if you might consider the soft terra cotta color from the rug (at least that is what it appears to be). I think that would be a touch of warmth in the cool greys and blacks.

And what beautiful night stands! I would love to find a pair of those.

You've done a smashing job on a limited budget!! Kudos to you, especially during these times of a tight economy. The reuse of old, yet still lovely and serviceable furniture is excellent. I love the rug and the ceiling color, and can't wait to see pix when you've got the art hung, drapes up and everything totally ready for your first guest.

Fabulous!!! Great job, very sophisticated. I also likes Les's idea of the terra cotta color for the accent pillow. You could add other terra cotta accents around the room.

I'm not a rug person so I may be off when I say this, so if I am, someone correct me. I think the decor is very modern and the rug doesn't really fit with the style or decor color going on in the room. I see a bigger, bolder, more modern rug, with your colors you have going on, plus another accent color, that you could bring up to use in pillows, art, flowers, etc., around the room.

I love what you've done. Did you spray paint the nightstand or brush it on? It looks fantastic.

Texashottie, Your headboard inspired me. It's just gorgeous. I actually referred to your thread for the how-to part.

Les, I did not think of terracotta as an accent color. I'll have to check out some fabrics with terracotta in mind and see what I can find for an accent pillow. I was thinking of something bright and funky.

Dilly- You have me nailed. I'm really not a cookie cutter type decorator. I do have the tendency to go where few go in more than decorating. Sometimes it gets me in trouble. LOL. I love making things that usually don't go together work.

Brutuses- I appreciate your eye and your input. I actually like oriental type rugs or whatever you call what I am using with very modern furniture. I'm not sure I would have gotten the added warmth I was looking for if I went with a more modern rug for a bedroom and this one did not cost me anything. It kind of mixes things up. The room need major accent color.

Marti8A. First, I primed it with a oil-based primer that I had tinted gray. I used a combination of foam roller and brush. If I had a sprayer, I probably would have gone that route.

Like I said Jersey, I don't know the first thing about what rug to put with what decor. Don't look for rugs in my new house anytime soon. Not unless someone goes out and picks them out for me. I think picking a rug is more difficult than any other design decision. Well, for me anyway.

Love Les' idea (always do!) of the terra cotta/apricot accents - the best way to decide if you will like it is to find some existing in your home (sure you have some terra cotta pots somewhere) and put them around in the room
