You're off to a great start. I especially love that chair.

Yes, you're right that the media cabinet is too big for your space between the doors. You wouldn't want it to be wider than the space between the moldings. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you've done a lot of mixing and matching already. The nightstands and bureau will all match, so I think you can do more "mixing" and get a non-matching cabinet under the TV. What about a bookcase with shelves for the cable box as well as books? That might be interesting. Or scout antique stores for something interesting. I just found an old Victrola cabinet for my TV. :)

I'd love to see a big round mirror over the bureau. Maybe in an antique brass color frame? Is that the finish of the hardware on the furniture?

SueB- i completely agree a round mirror would look great. Just wish i had something in mind for under the tv- afraid to commmit to the other pieces without the something that goes under the tv??

Would you consider something like this for the media table? It comes in different finishes, and it would be nice to have bookshelves in a bedroom. Or you could put baskets in the shelves, or display pieces.

Nanny 2- what are the dimensions? Yes I would- but it would be hard b/c of "trying" to match finishes might flop!

As for a mirror, if it were my house I'd try to find a unique mirror that didn't match the dresser, either a round or oval one, and preferably framed in metal or some other texture other than wood.

I really like the nightstand you show, but are there others in the furniture group? I usually like mismatched nightstands. Most manufacturers offer two or more styles in each line.

Dee thanks- they did have other nightstands but i loved that open stand and I think we have enough mismatched with the headboard, chair and tv dresser lol....

First off, I love what you've done with the room so far. Your guests will be very comfortable there! Regarding your other pieces you are considering, do you really need 2 dressers in a guest room? Most guests when they visit need a place to put their luggage. I'd rather see more open space and just the single creamy dresser under the TV. If you were to add another piece and I can't quite tell if you have space or not, it would be a small vanity desk. Many people travel with laptops and might appreciate a place to sit and get caught up on email, the gardenweb, etc. Or a place to put on makeup or style hair if bathroom is occupied as tends to happen with a full house. As for the nightstands, it's hard to say without checking the measurements. Do make sure they are tall enough--roughly the height of your mattress. That way with lamps, your guests can read in bed if they wish. I think matching nightstands is just fine as you already have a collected look going with the other pieces. If you were to purchase those it would look nice to add wicker baskets below where you could place some magazines to read, spare toiletries or towels if room does not have a dedicated guest bath, extra blanket, etc.

I like the nightstands and light colored chest so I vote you order them.

I agree with Valinsv that a 2nd bureau probably isn't necessary. Instead buy 1 or 2 luggage racks for the closet & provide plenty of nice hangers. Your guests can hang stuff, use the tv bureau and also leave some things in their luggage, which will be raised up on the luggage racks and easy to reach. But you know your guests, do they stay so long they would totally unpack and would need more drawer space?

The small desk is a nice idea also.

It will be a lovely and comfortable room.

I love the idea of a luggage rack in the closet, and I love the idea of a desk b/c my mom always brings her laptop and more importantly the attached bath doesnt give her good lighting so she could use the desk to do her makeup.... but my issue is the collection with the end tables does not have a desk. I found these but i love the other end tables more but i hate to mix and match so much!

I love the look you have going already. That is a gorgeous headboard and bedding. Very rich chocolate. The chair is perfect and the ottoman in leather will look great too. I also really like the chest for under the TV.

I like the 2nd nightstand and the desk with what looks like a drop front. It has nice storage in it and I agree that I would want those items to match. As you say you have a number of other collected things going on. No help here on drapes, sorry. But it is all coming together very nicely. c

I ordered a swatch for the desk to see the color- based on that I will decide about nightstands....which ever is a closer match.

Should I order the chest? Its a bit more creamy vanilla than the chair- the chair is more whitish/creamy... is that ok?

What about this desk--Do you like this-- i would also order the cream/brown dresser. I can get this desk in the exact finish as these end tables-- same color.... would this work? Would can I put on the desk to make it fun- ie books/ a mirror so my mom can do her makeup- flowers??

Also I found amazing fabric today for my panels- its the perfect shade of bluish that is cotton basketweave- I cant wait to have them made- I will show you when they are done. We will do 4 panels- one on each of the outside windows in the bay and two on the large inside-floor length!
And I'm having 2 euro pillows made with the same fabric to replace the brown pillows-- add more color on the bed...

I vote for your second choice of desk and nightstands with the creamy dresser. As it's a guest room, you probably don't need so much storage in a desk as you might otherwise and it would give the room a less heavy look. Drop front desks can be awkward with wiring and as your mom ages, she might want to lean on the desk to get up and that would not be a good desk for that.

As you said she may also use it as a vanity, I wonder how it would look with a mirror above. However, you could finalize that later after you get the furniture in place. Another option would be a painting or even a pretty ribbon board which is what I have over my DD's desk. If interested, it's very simple to make and I can give you a link to the directions I used.

I agree with Val. I really like the lines of the Durham desk.

And, BTW, what a wonderful daughter you are to worry so much about your mother's comfort! I'm sure she adores visiting you.

Oh it is all coming together beautifully. I agree with Val and dee the second desk /writing table is perfect. I love the chocolately look and the cream. I am sure the drapes will be gorgeous.
