PhotoShop Help Needed...Please

I am still in the process of redoing our cottage kitchen. The cabinets were all golden oak and we've been sanding, priming, painting, glazing, and sealing the cabinets. Just finished the upper cabinets. Now we are working on the lower cabinets. After we are done with that, we will be taking off all the tile from the countertops and either putting in butcherblock counters, slab granite, or granite tiles. The plan was to use a natural colored tumbled marble backsplash, but now I am thinking about maybe a mix of tumbled marble & beadboard. You can see the inspiration pic (3rd pic) to see what got me thinking.

If someone could photoshop this into my pic I would so appreaciate it! I would use the small beadboard though and it would be painted SW Clary Sage as that is the color on the soffits.

ideamom, the bottom photos seem like they are copy/paste protected. Maybe it's just for me though? Doesn't usually happen with a photo in photobucket.

thank you so much,, YUCK i don't care for that at all. We are not doing the brick, we are using castle rock similar to the stone that sprice5105 used under her porch, but i still don't think i care for the red. Our roof is black/ gray// any other ideas. Our current home is a cactus green w/ white which i love. I will be using some accent color, in the gables but OH I DON"T KNOW NOW. What to do ? What is your favorite house color.

I have tile floors in my kitchen and I like them now but sometimes I wish I had gone with wood because I'm afraid that in a few more years the tile will look dated. I think that is a problem with tile. It dates fairly easily. I chose a slate look alike although it doesn't have as much variation as the slate in the above pictures. But, I think with tile regardless of what you pick it will date whereas wood is always classic. And, to me it seems like a huge effort to replace tile (although maybe I think it is a bigger deal than it is) I think wood with wood cabinets might be much though and would maybe choose painted cabinets over stained. Also, if you get the tile, I do highly recommend installing radiant floor heating if you can. It cost us a bundle for a hydronic system but it is so worth it in the winter when I walk in there in socks and can feel the heat on my feet! An electric system is much cheaper to install, but costs more to run so I guess it just depends on what system you will have in your home to begin with. Good luck!

I normally lurk once in a great while but thought I'd chime in here. I agree with the others. I like the craftsman style door the best with your house and also think your door hardware and light fixtures are too ornante for craftsman style. We just got the occupancy permit on our house which is also craftsman-inspired. We used a fiberglass craftsman style door from ThermaTru (model CCA230). We plan to use the gel stain on it (once the weather is nicer) so that it looks like wood but it can be painted, too. The door is available without the dentil shelf or with one of two dentil options. You can also get different kinds of glass to go in the 3 windows or keep the plain. The door is my second favorite part of our house and I highly recommend it. It would look great with your house. You can Google the model number and manufacture to find pictures of it. For the lights, we used a very simple jelly jar light by the door and double bullet-style lights for the sitting area of the porch, both with a black finish. I would have loved to use more square craftsman style lights for those areas but we were on a tight budget and figured they'd be easy to change later if we wanted. For the door hardware, we went with a simple lever style with a rectangle backplate and a separate deadbolt, all in a matte black finish.

I think your inspiration photo is close to an actual photoshop of your space,
should you go with a granite slab counter. The difference is that the top of your cabinets has a rounded arch at the top of each door, the inspiration pic has straight lines.

You mention you might go with granite tile, then the tile/beadboard combo would make the space quite busy looking so I'd go with tile only backsplash, in that instance.

If I were you, I'd post a picture of your actual finished counter before deciding on the backsplash.

Your inspiration pic is very pretty but the more I look at it, the more I find it busy looking, with all the vertical lines popping at me.

ideamom, I don't think there is anyone doing that level of photoshop on here anymore. Squirrel hasn't been around for a long time. I have a new computer and don't have PS on it. The only thing left I have is Ben Moore paint program. I'm sorry!

As a last resort, you could print out each picture and cut out the backsplash and put it on yours just to give you an idea.
