Yes, my two daughters are coming over with their respective BOY friends. Younger DD asked for lamb chops and apple pie, so we'll have those, plus baked and sweet potatoes, roasted asparagus, various appetizers, and cheesecake.

We are having my DSis B and her DH tomorrow. They are staying over so I will have a brunch on Monday before they leave. Guess I'd better get crackin'. We're having:

As usual, we will be going to daughters for the usual Easter dinner of baked ham and all the trimmings. I am contributing the pickled eggs and beets and baked pineapple. (thank you Glenda for posting that recipe here several years ago, the family loves it)

I am going to Patti43's house because I love her menu and I know her house is sparkling clean.

Our GD is fixing the dinner (supper) with ham and turkey. I will be taking a green bean casserole, not sure what else people will be bringing. Expecting around 18, friends and family including 5 under 5. Hope weather is better so we can eat outside as her house is small.

Ours is today at my step-brother's home.
We're all bringing something, and there will be ham and turkey, mashed potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese, turnip puff, Asian coleslaw, a broccoli casserole. Tarts, cherry cheesecake. Those I know for sure, and am not sure what else there might be.

Wouldn't you know it. I've made the Asian coleslaw several times last summer, as DH and I love it, and it's a good one to take to potlucks. Last nite while making the dressing (oil, vinegar, sugar and soy sauce, cooked until slightly thickened). It wouldn't co-operate with me. Wouldn't meld together. When I put it in the jar, it separated, and the dark soy and sugar mixture settled at the bottom like molasses.

I threw it out and started all over again, and it's doing the same thing. Can't figure it out. I'll have to make sure I stir/shake/nuke the dressing to mix it, and pour it over the coleslaw myself. Sometimes I like to leave it so the guests can pour on how much they like, but not this time!

POTATOES AU GRATIN WITH GRUYERE (Serves 10)

2 1/2 cup(s) half-and-half or light cream
1/3 teaspoon(s) ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
3 3/4 pound(s) (3 medium) Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
7 1/2 ounce(s) Gruyere cheese, shredded (3/4 cup)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In 3-quart saucepan, combine half-and-half, ground red pepper, and salt; heat to boiling over medium-high heat. Add potatoes and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until half-and-half mixture thickens slightly, stirring gently with heat-safe spatula.
Transfer half of potato mixture to greased casserole; sprinkle evenly with 1/2 cup Gruyere. Top with remaining potato mixture and remaining Gruyere.
Bake gratin 35 to 40 minutes or until potatoes are fork-tender and top is golden.

Pam, come on down. Yep, the house is clean (but it damn near killed me :-) There will be plenty of food since my rib roast is 4-1/2 lbs. and only four people so far.

You should make it. I am not a turnip lover by any means but this is good. Very light and fluffy, and not a strong turnip flavour.

The one dd in town is having major stomach issues and now dh is sick, so it'll be very simple. Somehow, there's always at least one member of our family who is sick on Easter! All your menus sound scruptious--Patti, I used to make that potato recipe and it is soooooo good! Very rich, but worth it.

We will not be having a big Easter dinner but I can't get away from tradition all together. No company for us and no invites to go out so we will be taking advantage of the good weather to get some heavy yard work done. I will start a pork butt in the crockpot in the morning so we will have some yummy pulled pork sanwiches at the end of our day. I also made some yummy pickled eggs last saturday so by tomorrow they should be perfect! It will be a very different Easter but I can live with change. I look forward to the pork.

gazania, I hope you enjoy your pickled eggs and beets as much as I am going to enjoy mine. My kids love them when they are here but my husband can not stand them. He hates hard boiled eggs and when you add beets to the mix, he runs for the hills. I love them and can't get enough! Enjoy!

We are going to Joe's sister's house. I don't know what she will be having. I always have a turkey at Easter. Some people have ham.

My daughter and her dh and 2 little grandsons will arrive after the kids get up from their naps today. Tomorrow, my older son and his fiance will join us and they will spend the night as they don't have to work the next morning.

For Easter dinner, I plan ham, deviled eggs just because it is Easter, mincemeat peaches, Glenda's corn pudding, aspargus, and au gratin potatoes. For dessert I am making a fruit pizza for the adults and ice cream with sprinkles for the 5 year old grandson. The 2 year old does not care for sweets, but he does like Nabisco 'Nillas, so maybe he will have those with some pretzels.

We will start tomorrow morning off with Easter baskets, and a hunt in the family room and kitchen for the 42 plastic eggs I bought. We will put Cheese-Its, Kix, and Cheerios in the eggs, as well as 12 tiny bunnies (the size of a grape with ears), which I knit for the boys.

sooey, it wouldn't be Easter for my bunch without those pickled eggs and beets. I prepared mine last Monday. That shoud be enough time for the color to go all the way in to the yolks of the 22 eggs I hard boiled and put in with the beets...the way we all like them.

Linda, here is the Asian coleslaw recipe that I use. Everywhere I've taken it, it's gone over well!!!

1 Napa cabbage
1 bunch green onions (I just finely slice a cooking onion)
Slice the cabbage and onions and refrigerate.

2 pkg Oriental flavour raman noodles, crushed finely (throw out the seasoning package)
1/4 lb butter or margarine
3-4 oz sliced or slivered almonds
1/2 cup sesame seeds.

Combine noodles, butter, almonds and sesame seeds in a skillet and stir constantly until browned.

In a saucepan combine
1/4 cup vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup sugar.

Heat until slightly thickened, approximately 15 minutes.

There is enough dressing and nut mixture for a couple of salads, and the dressing keeps in the frig for a couple of weeks.

We are in Louisiana with family we are having a big cookout bbq burgers, hot dogs, sausage, spiral ham, pulled pork, potato salad, slaw, salads, various veggies and sides, I brought a German Chocolate cake and a carrot cake. And who knows what else! Oh and lots of boiled eggs!

DH smoked a brisket and some chicken. We will have a green salad, potato casserole, deviled eggs, yeast rolls or sweet potato biscuits(DD will bring the eggs and bread). Dessert will be peach cobbler and strawberry pie. We will hide eggs for our two year old granddaughter.

My sister and her daughter and I got together for lunch today. We had pork loin that my brother had soaked in cranberry and apple juice for 4 days. It was very good. We also had broccoli raisin salad and baked potatoes. We had 3 2 1 cake for dessert with strawberries and whipcream on it. O yeah and easter bread also known as Baska.
