Punk, I'm not sure if I have too many new ideas for you, my DH is a M&P guy so we don't do anything too different. There are lots of yummy menus here from others tho. Our kids aren't coming home this year but we're still doing a big dinner. We don't eat ham (altho I do love it) so often have turkey several times a year for special dinners. It's one of DH's fav meals and I like it altho I think I like the dressing and sweet potatoes even more than the meat! And I love the leftovers so we always cook lots. Our menu is crudities as appetizer, roast turkey, dressing (do you all call it stuffing or dressing?), cranberry sauce, gravy from scratch, crockpot scalloped potatoes (we usually do mashed but thot these would be easier), mashed sweet potatoes, some green veggie - either asparagus, French green bean casserole, or baby peas. I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'll decide then. I often change my mind at the last minute so will have everything on hand. Honestly haven't decided on dessert - something easy unless DH wants to make pies tomorrow. He makes a great apple pie. However I might make baked custards which I like better. Some topping on them. LOL I shouldn't have posted to this until after the dinner, I change my mind so many times.

We usually all get together for each family member's birthday. A lot of the time it will be on the Sunday afternoon/early evening nearest to their birthday. They are all so busy with the kids in sports, we have to work around it. With my cousins, we go out to lunch once a month. When the month rolls around that our birthday are in we celebrate it on our lunch day with gifts. We all live in the same town. My aunt and uncle that raised me had 5 children of their own....plus me. Between us there were 20 grand children and now lots and lots of greatgrands. Also quite a few great greats too. Only two of them moved away. The two that moved away were both greatgrands and both boys named Scott. Only five of them have divorced.(that is among the children,grands and great grands. And four have passed away...the aunt and uncle that raised me and one of their daughters and one son in law. All the rest of us still live here. Says a lot for family and our town, at least I think it does. patti

Moonie, the cook/chef at my mothers retirement apartment facility is pretty amazing too. I've been there when beef wellington has been one of the two nightly dinner entrees and its been prepared as well as any I've ever had. I don't know yet what we're having for Easter though, we're thinking of meeting someplace my sister can join us too (165 miles in between her and Mom) after everyone has been to their respective church service so that will mean restaurant close to the interstate corridor. Which will be OK, we haven't all been together since Christmas Day. I have a BIG ham here I need to cook sometime in the next few weeks (Christmas gift), will probably make it buffet, find a night that works for several and have a crowd here then - hoping not too many tired of ham right after Easter.

There will just be the four of us. I won't even get to see my daughter. I know we will get through this but that really bothers me. We will have a traditional turkey that my nephew will cook. We will have yams carrots and potatoes on the side. Probably a french onion soup to start and to finish I have pumpkin so I will probably make pumpkin squares. I feel like we already have so taken so many chances that I won't take another chance. My family members who don't live here must stay away and I must a stay away from them. I have to go off to work as I am working for a frontline person but I have very restricted physical contact with them. We meet at a distance and their dog comes and runs to me I put my leash on their dog. When the dog runs back to them at the end of the 2 hour walk they wash the collar off that I have touched. I wear gloves and I sanitize those gloves the same as I would my hands and I also sanitize my face mask. In other words before during and after the walk I am constantly sanitizing myself. I sanitize my hands and face and also my cell phone. My clothes and mask are changed after every walk. I have five masks and I use a HEPA filter in the middle. Of course I also have my husband and son and nephew to be concerned about so maybe that is making me be even more paranoid than others. I cannot believe how many people don't have masks or gloves and casually brush by people. Don't they know that asymptomatic people can be like pig pen only invisible with virus spewing forth from their every breath and word! I try to make myself look as contagious as possible. I hold my gloved hand to my face and turn a my back to people who are too close. I act as if they are the zombies in the Brad Pitt movie.
