Yesterday's network news describes a rescue of a toddler locked in a closed car in a Kansas parking lot (very hot weather too). Video shows a woman attempting to smash and open up the auto safety glass with a tire iron. Safety glass is intentionally designed to NOT break open from relatively blunt impacts. However it will explode when a fine point is sudden forced against it (there is a sweet spot as well as areas that are less likely to yield). I have a spring punch in my center console, but a neighbor has the ResQMe product and I'm going to buy a couple of those since that device also has a seatbelt cutting tool and fits onto a keychain. (Someone at a B Q showed me his very cinched tight seatbelt from an auto accident -- I don't know how anyone was supposed to release that belt after it tensioned so tightly. When tapped against auto safety glass (or when the spring loaded tip of the ResQMe type is put against the glass and released), the safety glass will shatter. Even a spring loaded "punch" sold at Hardware stores can work. And as far as (cell phone or purse being) "...more important than a child," nonsense. The idea behind it is this -- as an added layer of safety (leaving something you usually take with you from the car, in the back seat close to the baby/child), is aimed at addressing the many of us imperfect humans, who can momentarily become distracted. If we _routinely_ grab our cell phone, briefcase, purse or laptop, but do not routinely have a young one with us, this technique may help prevent a child from being forgotten in a car. If, once at the office (wherever), a purse, laptop or mobile phone need could have us racing to a parking lot. With regard to the kid's invention. People can jury rig a similar setup. Marine suppliers sell thin, UV resistant bungee cord by the foot as well and easily attached hooks or fasteners to secure to the ends. Another summer safety topic is children drowning (it is silent and quick), diving accidents, grills or bonfires (never put volatile fuel or starter on anything but a cold wood, propane or charcoal grill), and boating accidents. Just be aware. If they were planned, they wouldn't call these sad mistakes "accidents."

hehehehhe I'm a head of that game. I have a motion sensor faucet installed in my MBR for my cats. It's in the 2nd sink, along with a "real" faucet for me. Weezel, Mine do the same thing. One will sit on any sink and MEROWWWW at me if I don't turn it on while I'm in there. The problem is that he'll also only drink from any of them if I'm in the room with him. Hence the motion sensor, since I've walked away and come back hours later to find the kitchen or something still dripping. Building for the cats, I'm trying to figure out how to reconfigure my laundry room to save gray water, without killing the plants in the garden outside that room. I think bleach is bad for greenery. :) But I figure I only do laundry once in a while, and use my DW even less (monthly, maybe. I have a ton of dishes) so why not recycle the water! I like that little sink idea. Perhaps a motion sensor down there would do the trick! It's awfully cute! :) I wonder if the mom can turn it off and on with her foot?

I was SO disappointed in that vote! I actually felt bad for Jeremy because he kept saying he didn't want to be voted off first. Natalie is beyond annoying. Why are they swapping teams already? I thought they usually did that if the teams start to become too lopsided. Right now the Davids are down 2 and Goliaths 1. I'd like to see them stay together a little longer. I hope whatever team Natalie ends up on that she does what she said she wouldn't do - team up with the Davids. I'm liking the wrestler guy - he's cute and he seems like he's a nice guy. He seemed pretty arrogant in the beginning but seems to have calmed down some. I have no winner preference yet though. Too many players that I have no clue who they are. I agree - 2 challenges would be much more interesting. Wonder why they stopped doing that?

The upside of these gift registries is one could find a gift one is willing to give and when the receiver decides that isn't quite right they can return/exchange end up with what they prefer in the end. I often find "registered for" items at other stores for much less. Buying them "off sight" increases the possibility the receiver will get two. With a registry the receiver can exchange the expensive version for a new choice. No one wants to know when their gift is "adjusted" to fit the receivers true desires. I understand the feelings when a gift is not well received but in the end if the money is going to be spent I would rather the receiver have something desired and usable. When I was a young mom money was tight. It was very depressing for me to have plenty of clothes--hand me downs from sisters/first child and receive MORE brand new things, when I NEEDED diapers/wipes/sheets......
