You could actually do a couple different things. You could have one rod and use hangers. You would have to fold them a bit to fit on the hanger and not drag on the floor, but that's usually how they come from the cleaners. For heavy cloths, use two hangers together for added strength. You could also hang multiple rods at slightly different heights and depths. If you have a walk in closet this works great, but will still work with a reach in. Hang the highest rod the farthest back, then one a bit lower and closer and even a third lower and closer than the second. Then you can hang the cloths right on the rod instead of on a hanger. I like the rod because of it's larger diameter it doesn't leave creases in the cloths. You can also overlap them on these rods. For optimum use of space, you'd need to use multiple rods and overlap. Is that totally confusing?!

Thanks, plllog! Throw in the freezer today (Thurs), take out and thaw in fridge tomorrow (Fri) and heat-n-serve on Saturday. Better to be safe than sorry!! Sure wish I could have squeeeeeezed one more day out of this so I wouldn't have to do the freeze/thaw stuff.

One 'at home' example. My farm produces about 3-400 pounds of rhubarb. No deer or critter touches it so the rows I've transferred corms, or whatever they are called, over the years are out in the open field, in rows. Critters do not touch it. In the markets it looks limp and crappy. At 7-8 dollars a pound. If I put 15 to 20 pounds into my fridge in bags it lasts garden fresh for three-four weeks. if I place one stalk on a fridge shelf uncovered it will go limp in two days. Just like carrots. It really is a fridge/crisper design that keeps produce fresh. -if I continued 20 years ago, dividing and transplanting rhubarb once a year, I would have a very nice $$$ farm. We joked about a rhubarb retirement in our late 30's. Oh well. Had I continued transplanting once a year with not much effort...we would easily have a few thousand pounds in just a couple acres. (it grows without any extra food or water.) Garlic is another crop that does really well. I send 5 pounds of rhubarb to my MIL and SIL every year. Down south where rhubarb does not grow. It is a weed to us but I do make juice, etc. We all have what others want.

I'm stopping in because I didn't reply the first time around ;0p I hate watering. Absolutely HATE it. Always have. I follow the right plant right place motto and infrequently have to supplementally water in the beds once the plants are established with the exception of an area right off my deck that is smack under a large maple tree. The battery-powered retractable hose reel is on the deck so it's easy enough to set the sprinkler on the deck once a week or so to water that spot. Trees and shrubs out on the property are on their own after their first season; I will trudge out there diligently for one season with a watering can to make sure they're off to a good start but that's it (too far to drag the hose). What I do have to water regularly is anything in pots. Most of those are on the deck, and I can use the hose on the deck. Have a few pots out on the front walkway, I water those with a watering can -- I had the plumber add a water spigot in the front of the house. What kind of dodo builds a big house and plumbs only one spigot!?!? The vegetable garden needs watering occasionally. I'm on old farmland, and it is a joy to work this soil -- it is moisture-retentive yet fast draining and very friable. Just beautiful, beautiful soil. Probably from a century or so of being passively manured and worked. So that means once the vegetable starts are established I don't have to water unless there's an unusually dry spell for 3-4 weeks. I drag the hose and connect it to a hose reel set up in the vegetable enclosure -- what did we do before quick connectors LOL! I'm still trying to figure out the mini-orchard I'm working on establishing. The trees are still young, and I've been hand watering with a watering can if it's been dry. Most of the trees are well on their way to becoming fully established so I probably don't need to keep up on it anymore, but AFAIK fruit trees do require an abundance of water. This is a learning curve for me. I have hand pumps in the barn and next to the barn in the field, so it's not as bad as it sounds to hand water. Except I hate watering.
