I just love the stone walkway and the Pine tree....so cool!!! I also like how you used the large gum drops as the corner stones...very creative!

Wonderful! I make gingerbread houses with my nieces but with a kit. The amount of effort in one like yous is incredible, and it looks like a winner to me.

My only creative touch to the kit houses, or one year a train kit, is buying unusual candy. It really adds a creative touch. And since no one eats gingerbread houses I'm not into making my own house. But we don't enter contests where they go really creative like your. Good luck.

Thank you all for your kind words. I've had to tweak it a bit since last night as the Kringle sign fell off. Now it has a gingerbread sign (instead of tootsie roll) that says "North Pole".
The chimney "stones" are sugar babies, the lights are actually just that, teeny xmas lights with a battery pack (hidden in a "recycling bin" in back of house)made for crafts. The trees are made with sugar cones and frosted with a leaf tip and green royal icing. The windows are melted lemon balls.
The contest is really nothing much, but it will be fun to see how I do.

The girls and I made one every year. Actually, we mostly made gingerbread "hovels". A pound of gingerbread and 3 pounds of frosting, which stood up just long enough for a picture and then we ate it.

Shingles were always M&Ms, and those always got eaten first. Maybe Makayla and Bud will want to help me make one this year.....

That is just so cute! I have always wanted to make one but never have. Next Sunday I am taking my 10 year old granddaughter to a restaurant. They will have a gingerbread house, and we will frost and decorate it. they supply all the candy. I know she is going to have a ball.

Well, those judges must have been enjoying their eggnog...I won the grand prize! To be fair, there really were very few entries, but it was nice to be acknowledged. My prize was a gift certificate to a local inn/restaurant, and I am sure I will enjoy spending it. There was a really cool one that I took a picture of and will post once I download it.

Jo... VERY NICE. I adore it! What did you do with the house now... did you have to leave it since it won... or have you eaten it already? I wanted to try one of those before, but it seems like too much work! I really admire your ability to do that!
