Aren't these the most delightful cookies and they were a cinch to make. My 10 yr old made them from scratch. Sugar cookie dough and Royal icing with marshmallows.

she freeformed the cookies and ladled on the icing which she spread with a spatula. I put stiffer icing and chocolate in tiny parchment bags for her. It's easier for her to manage than a piping bag. We used a sprinkle for the nose. I wasn't going to make or buy fondant just for that.

Hey Kent, it's good to hear from you and to know that you're still looking in here from time to time. I think that in un-snowy VA you could space the frames farther than the two feet that I used -- maybe as much as four feet apart would work. Be sure to send us some pictures when you make yours. Glenda - Now that I think of it, there is a way to cut the half-lap joints that is easier than the one I mentioned, and I don't know why I didn't think of it for mine. (1) You still make your first cut 1 3/4" deep and about 3 1/2" from the end, assuming your 4 x 4 measures 3 1/2". (2) Then you rotate the 4 x 4 a quarter turn and, setting the saw to full depth, saw in from the end along the 1 3/4 " deep line until you get to your first cut. (3) Now flip the 4 x 4 a half turn and make the same cut on the opposite side of cut (2). Finish up with a hand saw to take out the wood that the circular saw couldn't reach. Hmmmm, looks complicated in print like that, but it is faster, especially if you have a reciprocating saw to use instead of the handsaw. It was pretty silly for me to not do it that way. ThinMan

Currently I live in a double-wide mobile home, not on a foundation but positioned on blocks - so there is a crawl space about 3 feet high under the entire house. I've been thinking about, when I do an outdoor system, of either partly burying the reservoir, or, putting a door in the crawl space covering for easy access to the reservoir under there. Why? Because every time I take off a panel and get back in there a little bit, even here in FL it feels like the cool air from my parent's basement in PA. Therefore yes, a crawl space and/or underground would be a great place to get air or cool air down before letting it naturally flow into your greenhouse. I would imagine that with the notable temperature differences between the greenhouse roof and extra-cool air coming in below, that air flow would be much faster. I really want to get a book and read about greenhouses, especially FL greenhouses. And yes I suppose that a metal tube would cool the air faster than a plastic tube would... seems it would anyways.

Yes sir, peas are popular at the farmers' market. It isn't tuff to sell what's been picked especially if the customer has a choice of snap, snow, and shell peas. It isn't even all that tuff to pick 'em. Peas have to be the lowest production veggie out there. Don't let your kids grow cherry tomatoes, David. Certainly, the tiniest varieties shouldn't even be considered. We grew Jelly Beans one year - pick, pick, pick - uh, what's that? Half a cup? I'm not sure if I could carry a cattle panel out into the garden. A lot of my decision-making is based on infirmities. Probably, I should go with double rows and 2" chicken wire . . . Part of my technique, however, is to brace against wind storms. In that larger, more exposed veggie garden, I've even thought about "stapling" the melon vines to the ground!! pea pickin' digitS'

Raeanne/Donna: Sorry gals, but DBIL is not looking. :-( Very set in his ways, and his 3 daughters are way ahead of you in trying to set him up! Will be sure to let you both know when situation changes. BJ, great to see you again. I baked over 220 cookies today alone...over the past 3 days the number is well over 400 I'm sure. Exhausted! Now I'm trying to get some things wrapped for a few coworkers. I've given up the idea of getting a few trays of cookies together to bring to the office Monday...not gonna happen until Wednesday. Tomorrow I'll be walking again at 6:15am with my neighbor for 30-45minutes. After that, instead of trying to get to the office by 7:45, I've decided to stop at Kohl's (about 1 mile from me, and it opens at 7am!) They have adorable Christmas pins on sale for under $10. I have a couple, and whenever I wear one of them, this wonderful gal in work mentions how she loves them. Think I'll surprise her (which means I need to bring along tissue, ribbon, a bow, and a gift bag with me to wrap in the car on the way to work!) Oh yes, I did 6 loads of laundry yesterday. There are only me and DH in this house and I do laundry each and every week. I can't imagine why I had 6 loads, but there they were! lol!! Gotta run and get this stuff together. Make this week count! Take care, eat healthy, and NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP! DeeMarie (who's blood pressure was only 118/68 at her doc's appt on Friday, even AFTER they poked in 3 different areas trying to get enough blood for rountine tests) whoooooo hoooooo!!! I tell you, it was better news than losing 18 lbs for me. Make this week count!

My two little DGS didn't get to come and help make the cookies, but I went ahead and made them. Tell your DD that hers look so much prettier than mine. I baked my cookies to close so they weren't all round. But Blake and Caleb loved them and so did Santa.

loves2cook4six - We did it! Tonight my daughter and I tried our 1st attempt at making your daughter's snowman cookies. I think we need a little more practice, BUT we had a GREAT time together making them. THANKS to your daughter and to you for posting the pics and sharing the idea with us. It was a great way to spend a Christmas vacation evening together!
