Last Cast Party Of The Year

Hi everyone,

The last cast party of the year is Saturday night. It is our holiday show, the classic "A Christmas Carol". It did so well, they added two extra performances, which are tomorrow night and Saturday night. They had a cast party for the children this past Sunday. As always, I will be taking a dessert and a beverage for the cast party. I have chosen to make blackberry cobbler and my gram's lemonade. Both of which have been huge hits. I think this will be one of the larger cast parties we'll have. All have been fun and I look forward to many, many more. I'm very happy to be part of this group and maybe I'll make a debut performance on the stage. All I can do is remain hopeful. :-)

Brad, I can at least vouch for your Gram's lemonade, it's delicious. They ought to give you a part just for making that!

Have a good time and enjoy the party. I'm sure you'll get on stage soon, and I want to know when you do.

Annie, so glad you enjoy the lemonade. Bought the lemons earlier this week, and I was afraid they would spoil before I made it on Saturday (or maybe I'll make it tomorrow, I haven't decided). LOL, maybe they should give me a part based on my cooking. I have been asked to consider doing a role, but my transportaion is limited, sadly. I shall let you all know when I do get a part.

The cobbler I made before and it was very well recieved. When I made it before, there were only four pieces left to bring home. It's so easy to make and serves 16 people. I'll share the recipe again :-).

Express Fruit Cobbler

2 20 oz. cans fruit pie filling (the ones I use are 21 oz.)
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 18 oz. box white cake mix (I can only find 15 oz. boxes now)
1 egg.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread pie filling in 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In large bowl, cream butter to smooth texture. Add dry cake mix & egg and blend well. Mixture will be very stiff. Spoon mixture over pie filling. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into squares. Serve with vanilla ice cream or Cool Whip. Serves 16.

I'll leave my cobbler whole like I did before, that way people can get as large or small piece they want. I also take a container of Cool Whip if they wish.

The beauty, well, one of the beauties of a cobbler is you can use different fruits or combine them too. Mix them together, or do a half and half or sort of swirl it in. I'm not a fan of peaches and I'm not sure why. But an apple filling with a spice cake topping and sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar has me interested. Or any kind of berry and maybe a banana cake mix with a vanilla sugar sprinkle. Just a couple of the myriad of possibilities. It's another comfort food. And if you happen to have access to fresh fruit, you can always adapt it to the recipe easily too. Keep on cookin' Wolfie! Your friends and family will love it. And I know you'll have a great time doing it. :)

The play and party were both big hits! I just got home a little while ago and there's only a few slices of cake left. The best thing I ate there were these strawberries that were filled with cream cheese and a chocolate chip. Yummy! Brad AKA Moonwolf

I think you ladies will be happy with these, thanks for looking and thanks, Linda, for linking! You know, the first time I tried craisins, they had just hit the market and they were HORRIBLE. I just used some yesterday in a recipe and they are wonderful. I think I must have gotten a bad batch the first time. Linda, if you put a bunch of fresh cranberries in a bowl of melted vanilla almond bark and then spread them out in 1's or 2's on parchment paper to set up, they are delish and make a nice little addition to a plate of cookies, something fruity and different. Woody likes THEM, too. (Make sure they're washed and dry and at room temp, of course, or the choc won't stick.)

This will be served with some Town House sea salt pita chips. Hopefully, there will also be some sliced party baguette as well. It's thick enough to eat by itself, but it can be put on crackers, chips, even lettuce leaves. The local store we used to get it from doesn't make it anymore at their deli (hasn't for a long time), so I was happy that I got the flavor just right. I enjoyed making this because most of the ingredients were already on hand. All we had to buy was the imitation crab, onion & chive cream cheese, and the pita chips. I will be making it again in the future. Brad AKA Moonwolf

Here's the cobbler! I took this while it was cooling, not too long after it was done baking.

Bumblebeez, thank you! The party's not until tomorrow, lol, but I'll report back on how everyone liked it and the lemonade! I did something different with it this time and left the lemon slices out.

This cobbler smells heavenly when it's baking :-).

The play, party, and the cobbler were huge hits! The party was for only adults, and there were quite a few types of alcohol there and I even had a couple cups of the mixed drink in the punch bowl (raspberry liquor, vodka, orange juice concentrate, fruit punch concentrate, sort of like a sangria drink I guess). Tasty vittles and people were suprised at how easy the cobbler is to make :-). We'll be doing a clean up on Thursday, and leaving the set up until the January work days.
