I think, when it comes to hobbies, my adult ADD really comes out--I have so many hobbies and I flit from one to another so quickly.

Sewing, knitting, crochet, reading, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking, writing. I've done: basket weaving, pate de verre (making molded glass items out of glass 'paste'), stained glass

Some of my favorites are: carving spoons, treasure hunting, entering recipe contests.

Know there are more, those are just the ones that popped immediately into mind.

Collecting? My most serious collection is coins. I have both old, unusual ones, and I collect new large silver proof coins from around the world.

I'll jump in here, need to ring my own bell once in a while. I tried many things in the needle arts, needlepoint, crewel, stamped cross stitch and then my mom sent me a counted cross stitch kit and I knew I had come home! I have been doing that for over 30 years. I enter in our county fair and have received at least 3 Sweepstakes ribbons over the years. I also received top honors in the fair one year. I raised, trained and ran a team of Alaskan Malamutes for a number of years and collected the shed hair in the spring. I had pounds of the stuff and saw an article about a woman who spun dog hair into clothing. WOW!! When I found out someone else spun it for $3 and ounce, I figured with literally pounds of it, I could learn how to spin. I then had to do something with all those skeins of yarn and so am a self taught knitter. Along the way, I started studying wolf behavior and then started collecting lots of things wolf related. I have had to give that up unless it's something I can wear, jewelry or t-shirts. No room on the shelves or walls anymore LOL. For a long time I was a hobby gardener, but the last couple of years I have expanded my garden to put up more produce for the winter. I have trained dogs for over 30 years and became addicted to agility about 10 years ago, and am still doing that. I now have Australian Shepherds and still collect dog hair, but the spinning has slowed down. My claim to fame is that one of my Malamute hats went on a Mt. Everest expedition.

I love to READ, can go through 3-4 books a week. Also like gardening, crafts, country music on my headphones. I collect COWS.

I read a lot, too. Never thought thought of it as a collection, but I do like to keep books. I like to borrow them, too. But I like full bookshelves of the books I've read and liked and books I can look forward to reading.

I also play the flute. Started when I was in elementary school and, though I'm not at my best anymore, I still play well.

Photography is my hobby, it's more like my life. I have a website and blog where I showcase my photography. I enter photo of the day and other contests online. I take pics for friends. I go for walks and drives to find interesting things to photograph.

I also like to read, love listening to music, I geocache in the warmer months and I enjoy crossword puzzles. I also love to go for walks in the woods and along the beaches.

My interests are pretty ordinary compared to some of yours. I am an avid quilter and usually have two or three projects going. I also love to play duplicate bridge and do so at least twice a week. I also travel as much as I can. I've been to China and Thailand and to Europe numerous times. Antarctica, South AMerica, Africa, Australia and New Zealand beckon if and when I have the money.

My family and my crafting are my hobbies. I love making things for my daughter, 5 grandkids, and 4 greatgrandkids.

I have a LOT of collections, but don't add to them anymore. My favorite collection is my Mother/Mama/Mom cup collection. Some of them are over 100 years old (my ruby flash is dated 1907).

I like to scrapbook and do computer-related projects like invitations/labels/candy bar covers. I do some trash-to-treasure projects and like to go to garage sales (although not near as much as I used to).

I used to do more crafty things like decoupodge and drawing. Not so much anymore.

OK, first the collections:

Now the hobbies:

- Gardening. I grow Hybrid Tea roses. My two latest acquistions are Blue Girl and a fabulous yellow rose called Joshua Bradley. I had never heard of this rose before so I contacted Armstrong Nurseries where I bought it. It's exclusive to the nursery and named after the 15 year old son of the company's CFO who died of cancer. All proceeds go to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

- I play the Celtic Harp

- Special needs cats. I started a website in 1998 based on our first cat Boots, who began what was then an experimental treatment for Feline Herpes. The website grew to be enormous and I eventually had to remove my e-mail from the site because I couldn't keep up with the inquiries. Since then we have dealt with numerous feline illnesses (Diabetes, Feline Herpes, both Chronic & Acute Renal Failure, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hyperthyroidism, High blood pressure which led to the removal of an eye, various Cancers and inappropriate urination). I guess you could say Feline diseases have become an avocation.

I have a lot of interests, but not a lot of talent for anything! LOL I love to read, spend time with my grandkids, travel. I walk dogs every Wednesday for the Humane Society shelter. (Wish more shelters would start a program like this.) I love to junk and go to garage sales. Have recently set up a flea market booth for the first time in several years. I come up with the stuff and the ideas and Twinkie, my DH, makes them come true! LOL I'm getting ready to do another display case thingie for the local library. This one is "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys and They Still Are It Seems". Gonna put in a child's small saddle, photos of friends and family dressed as Cowboys when we were kids, photographs of cowboys then and now, books about cowboys, etc.

I have about 250 pieces of Fireking Jadite and I love anything from the 40's-50's, especially kitschy stuff.

I'm a member of two websites of volunteers taking photos of cemetery headstones for family history preservation. That's been interesting.

I read a lot- I have way too many books that need to get over to the library!

I am an avid cross stitcher. I am working on projects now to sell at the nursery. Mostly cat and garden designs. I prefer to work on really really big projects but my boss likes my stuff and thinks we should sell it.

I am not very athletic, but I do enjoy bowling. I also like to putter in the garden and propagate roses when time allows.

I have way too many hobbies and not enough time. I should cut back on some of them and just concentrate on a few. The biggest one is gardening. I love to be outside for most of the day, even if it is not so nice. I like to grow unusual plants and to propagate new plants. I have even started roses and amarylis from seeds and cross bred them.

My Mom taught me all the domestic hobbies like sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery, both fine and crewel. I later learned macrame and weaving. I did some quiting a couple of years ago. When I was younger I taught myself couture sewing and designed my own clothes.

She also taught me how to cook and bake. I love trying new recipes and techniques. I hang out on the Cooking Forum for that reason. You can always learn something new there. I bake way too many goodies. DH complains but that doesn't stop him from eating most of it.

I have been interested in photography since I was 10. I even had my own darkroom, both color and B/W. Shortly after I went digital and now do all my 'darkroom' techniques in Photoshop. I don't know what I am going to do with my 12+ collection of film cameras. A lot of them are really old, over 50 - 60 years old, medium format ones that still work fine.

Since I was a teenager I made jewelry, mainly beaded earrings, necklaces and bracelets. About 12 or so years ago I took classes in metalsmithing, casting and stone setting. I got hooked and loved to make jewelry from silver and set stones. Gemstones are the only thing I collect. About 5 years ago I shifted to glass and started making my own glass beads. I would like to get a kiln and learn slumping and fusing.

I have tried rubber stamping, scrapbooking, embossing and other paper crafts but never got into it. I did some stenciling and painting, batiking and tye dying of fabric.

Like I said, I need to narrow it down to just a few things. I find as I get older I just don't have the energy or time to do all the things I would like to do. It takes me twice as long to do half as much! LOL

I collect the same pottery as you, Marilyn Sue, but not so much any more...was a big collector in the '70's. I like all kinds of old and odd stuff...kitchen-y stuff mostly, antique furniture, plants, and pets. I just got 20 baby chicks, so now I am interested in raising chickens.

I've been entranced by koi for the past several years but may have to give up that hobby. My RA is progressing enough that I can no longer care for the pond as I need to do. And I love gardening!!

spoiling me...............

One of my hobbies is photograpy. I would love to be as good at it as Karen is. I envy her work. I never go anywhere without my camera.

Another one is riding my quad...but since I had surgery on my hand, I haven't been able to do that.

I also like to play on the internet.

I work long hours so I really don't have time for hobbies, per say. Fortunately, my job is as an artist, fulfilling any inherent desire to do "artsy" stuff. It's in the blood, both side of my family are littered with people in the arts.

When I'm not working, I'm traveling and as many have witnessed, taken lots of photos. So it seems, I spend all of my non-working, non-sleeping, non-traveling time going through photos, tweaking and cropping them and uploading to my Photobucket account. I have so many photos there now, I had to sign up for the Pro (paid) version.

I love photos, paintings, etc. of koi and love the challenge of finding koi stuff. Don't have the patience or room to keep live koi though.

I also love Japanese war horse statues, don't have a lot of them but I'm always on the lookout for something I like and is affordable. That's the catch and why I don't have a lot of them. :-)

The only collection that I have in large quantity is my plastic water bottle collection. I travel a lot and always buy a bottle of water wherever I go. The water is almost always bottled locally and always have a date on them, helping me remember where I got it and what year I traveled there. I used to have a rule that I would not open the bottle which made for some very heavy carry-on. Nowadays you can't bring water on board a plane (unless it's purchased at the airport) so I've changed my rule and now drink the contents and pack empty bottles.

I cross stitch,sew,quilt,garden,.I like to go to garage and yard sales as well as second hand stores.I used to tole paint,not so much anymore.I've dabbled in all sorts of arts and crafts,trash to treasure,garden junk etc.

I used to collect cows,birdhouses,and bunnies,and fabric.Kinda have stopped all that now,in fact i'm weeding out my sewing/craft room and selling off a lot of stuff and donating some of the arts & crafts stuff to the boys & girls club.
