I caved......

When it came time to stuff the turkey on Christmas day, I had made the stuffing and was seeking help holding the bird butt end up to stuff the stuffing inside.

Daughter says, I like it better outside the bird.....son says and we don't need to be eating all that stuff that cooks out of the turkey into the stuffing (seems you don't mind eating that stuff when I call it gravy!) and daughter reminded all that the turkey at thanksgiving was particualrly wonderful and she hadn't put stuffing in it.....

So I said whatever......

And they put an onion cut in pieces and a lemon and some celery into the turkey and the stuffing, which is now dressing!, into a casserole and put the dressing in to the oven for about 40 minutes when the turkey was nearly done.

Well....I am here to tell you the dressing is much better as stuffing !! I am feeding the leftovers to the birds tomorrow...

And the gravy was strange.....son made that and put some of the leftover roux from the gumbo the day before uinto the gravy to thicken it...

And threw the turkey fat away....so the gravy tasted strongly of vegetable oil and not turkey fat....and the stuffing tasted just like it did before it was cooked...should have poured that turkey fat over the stuffing!

Next turkey gets cooked my way!!

Mother has spoken! ( gripe, grumble, itchbay...mutter mutter...)

So was your Christmas meal as good as it could have been?
