buffalo wings dip?

HI all,

I've been seeing a few recipes here and there for a buffalo wings dip. Some use canned chicken, others cooked chicken breasts. Some use blue cheese dressing, others ranch.

Most recipes use cream cheese spread in a baking dish, then top with chicken, then a buffalo sauce (are they all really hot?), then the salad dressing, then topped with either cojack cheese or some other cheese. Then its baked. It sounds good.

Do any of you have a reicpe for this that you really like?

Hi, I haven't tried this, but have it on my "to try" list - not sure if I saved it from here or from the Cooking Light BB - sounds really good!

BONNIE'S BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves, (about 2 pounds), boiled, drained & shredded with 2 forks (I love using my crockpot for this step; the meat easily shreds...you don't want chunks)

1 - 12 ounce bottle of Frank's Hot Sauce (try to get this brand only, Crystal is so-so but do NOT use Tabasco)
2 - 8 ounce packages cream cheese
1 - 16 ounce bottle of Ranch dressing
1/2 cup chopped celery
8 ounces shredded Monterey Jack or sharp Cheddar cheese or combo thereof

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 13x9x2 inch baking pan, combine the shredded chicken meat with entire bottle of Frank's hot sauce, spreading to form an even layer.In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream cheese with entire bottle of Ranch dressing, stirring til smooth & hot.Pour this mixture evenly over the chicken mixture to form a 2nd layer. Sprinkle celery
over top. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, then sprinkle cheese over top and bake uncovered for another 15 or 20 minutes til hot & bubbly; you don't want the top to get browned or it will be hard. Let stand 10 minutes before serving hot/warm with celery sticks and/or any sturdy dipping chip like Tostito Golds.

I make it for every party we go to. It's always requested I bring it.

I always use chicken breasts. I poach them and then shred it. I use any hot sauce, blue cheese dressing and cheddar cheese. I serve it with tostitos.

Well I can only tell you how we use it - some are kind of far out. ;) We mix it in with plain rice for a side dish, mix it with cream cheese for a cracker spread, wife makes a mean salad dressing with in by mixing it with a basic vinegar and oil salad dressing. I like to use it on baked potatoes instead of butter and sour cream and I mix in into plain yogurt for a snack. Makes a great relish on hamburgers and ham and cheese sandwiches too. If you make panini or grilled sandwiches of any kind try it on them too. A nice thick grilled ham and cheese with chutney stuffed inside before grilling can't be beat. And here is the weird one - or so the grandkids tell us - we mix it with ranch dressing and a dash of hot sauce for buffalo wing dip. Dave

Pat, I got a dip recipe from here called something like "Buffalo Chicken Dip" but I can't seem to find it. I bet it would be even better with left over wings. It was a layered dip that you baked using cream cheese (?) and hot sauce and cut up chicken and maybe blue cheese dressing? I wish I could find it for you but no luck so far.

wild guess here..since I've not made it..but heard folks rave about it.. That the dressing and the cream cheese tone down the hot sauce. Frank's and Texas Pete both make a wing sauce..I don't know what brand you can find. But I think even regular ol "standard" hot sauce is in some recipes. I did a google and found a some with blue cheese dressing and some with ranch.. Like I said the cream cheese and the dressing will tone down the "heat". However..I'm thinking I wouldn't add anything to it..You could start with half a bottle of the "hot" sauce..and then add more if you feel you need it. It's not supposed to burn your lips, but tingle the back of your tongue..so just enough heat for a kick.. Now if it were my husband eating it..he'd add a dash more hotsauce on top! LOL
