I love dogs and no I don't think you've carried your dog theme too far. I would recommend you weed out the old for the new though. The new print does bring attention to the others as being "not so new." HA!

I'm glad you asked the question about the dog pictures. I also have a fascination with dog pictures and I've been wanting to add more, but I didn't want to overdo it. I remember someone on here having a big dog picture behind their couch and that's what made me start thinking about it.

I am looking at a very similar sofa (along with a handful of others).. is it a Leathercraft? The picture in your room is definitely swaying me.

I like your dog wall.. but I have a number of vintage dog prints scattered through my house.. as well as a few other dog pieces. I suppose some people would find it odd.. but those people aren't likely to spend much time in my house with two *ferociously* friendly pups.

I really like the sofa, I wish I could have one. I have an old kitty with claws and don't think it would work.

Love the color and the overall shape, not crazy about the pieced leather. Feels kind of casual for the more casual elegance of the other seating and furnishings.

Also, if you are keeping it, I would think about a slipcover or large tray for on the leather ottoman. At least on my monitor, that doesn't work well with the new couch.

The dog pix works and should stay, imo.

I think the sofa looks quite lovely and oh so comfy : ) Don't see too many dogs, lol. I think I would switch the prominent new one over the chair to the sofa, though. And hang the side pics not quite so far apart from it.

Always such a special touch you have in your home!

I love the sofa. I agree with someone else who said the ottoman doesn't look quite right, though. Unless there's something funny going on w/ the lighting, the two leather colors aren't working.

Funny about the dog theme. I recently noticed that we have an animal theme in our downstairs, and it happened accidentally. We have a huge painting of cows in our family room, a paper mache moose head on the wall, a pig bowl on the table, 3 ceramic sheep on a shelf, a dog painting, a collection of ceramic chickens on the TV shelf, a brass frog, an assortment of birds (metal or ceramic) scattered around, a painting of a horse, etc. I almost bought a metal sculpture of a pig riding a bike the other day and am still thinking I may have to go back and get it. I do think the animals lend some fun to our decor, but I hope I stop myself before I've gone too far! (For the record, we also have NON animal artwork on display!)

Johna I need to thank you for giving me the push I needed to buy the sofa i WANTED vs what was on the floor or on clearance. I had been dreaming of this sofa-- and I kept falling in love with the style again and again as I ran into pictures of it in magazines etc.

I went in today and looked at all my other options and took the leap and ordered the above sofa in "grapevine". It was a higher leather grade but it is the EXACT color I'd wanted(a green/brown) and well in the end they gave me a very good price (not a clearance price, mind you-- but a good price).

Thank you again-- your photo gave me the sign I needed to splurge and get what I wanted.

Funkyart- I am glad you ordered the sofa you WANT!! You know what's the difference over the life of the sofa for getting what you want. The green/brown color sounds pretty.Show us a pic of your new to be sofa!! BTW, this is a Henredon. They had a factory clearance this weekend so I was pleased with the price.

Les, yes, I need a big tray for the ottoman. I have been looking but the ones I like are way more than I want to spend. I'll pop on the right one. I noticed in the pic how the leathers didn't play too nicely, too. But irl it looks alot better. You have really been so helpful with this room. Thank you very much:)

Sueb - My house is animal - like, too. Bird prints, rooster, french war with horses, ducks, geese decoy. Even an elephant print on a chair. Go on back and get you that pig on a bike - hee hee. Sounds cute and whimsical.

Johna.. Link to my sofa below. I don't have a picture of the leather-- but it's a very organic looking dark green/brown in a smooth texture. It kind of reminds me of a really old turtle hahah. I guess "Grapevine" sounds bettery than "dirty old turtle" though. ;)

Sue/Johna.. add me to the "animal house". I have a number of animals pieces in the house.. frogs, turtles, pigs, sheep, dogs, rabbits.. and then moths and butterflies from the insect world. I really like artist made pieces but I have many that aren't one of a kind.

More OT .. my 5 yr plan has me jumping out of the business world to open a gift/decor shop geared to animal lovers and pet owners. I plan to incorporate artist pieces, select manufactured pieces as well as vintage. I am greatly encouraged by seeing how many of us on this board are pet owners.

It might be fun to start a thread of our favorite animal pieces. My niece is borrowing my camera but I have pictures of some of mine.
