New Eyes

A few months ago I had an "eyelid" lift and this past weekend I had my eyebrows tatooed. Before I did this I always felt I looked tired looking. What do you think of the end results????

He's dead now. Why do my new goldfish keep dying right after the 2 week warranty period? while a tankmate might keep going fine for months. Still, none live as long as goldfish are supposed to live. It looked like swim bladder, but he never ate enough while in my care to have overeaten himself into a blocked swim bladder. And he can't have been just a weak fish, because someone kept him alive and healthy for the couple years or however long it took to get him to the 2" size I bought him at. The only fish stores in this area are the big boxes. I won't buy fish at PetCo because all their fish die within two weeks, so I go across town to PetSmart, their fish live longer than two weeks as often as not. Not this one. He was perfectly healthy looking when I got him, I always watch the fish carefully before making a choice. And he was Gorgeous. Such a waste, to take that gorgeous creature home and kill him. So he was fine when I got him, but he never really ate for me, and wasted away and died. This has happened many times in the past. Is that just how it goes with fish these days? I don't remember having this problem when I had a tropical community tank back in the day of independent fish stores, pre - PetCo. I feed them fairy moss and mosquito larvae and milfoil from my little 25 gallon outdoor water garden. Could they be contaminated with something that's killing the fish? I never add anything except fish safe pond products to it, and not much of that, but it is Rubbermaid material, with plants in plastic nursery pots. the fairy moss came from a nursery but it lives in the pond. The milfoil came from Lake Washington but I washed it carefully before adding it to the pond, and then to the aquarium. What would milfoil carry that would be toxic to goldfish? The oranda is still fine, but now lonely. I've had him a few months now but I'm afraid to get him another companion until I know why my new fish keep dying.

Hey Patann!! How sweet of you--'E.A Janice'--I wish I were an 'angel'! :o) If I am, I sure have a crooked halo! LOL I love that pic. of E.A., too! I find that taking close-ups often makes a hosta look really good, or as good as they really are (better said)!! In the pic. you're referring to, behind the daylilies are some inpatiens in a planter! It is deceiving isn't it! :o) Oh, and yes--I do have that E.A. in a pot! I'm really unsure about how a hosta will over-winter in the barrel sitting on top of the 3ft. high raised bed! So, I have an extra 'Hyacinthina' planted around the pot! I will remove the pot of E.A. for the winter and see what happens to 'H' come Spring. If it makes it, then I'll plant E.A. directly into the barrel! AND, I have had 'Powder Blue' in a pot, in a barrel for two summers now--never taking the time to plant it directly, it seems. Hopefully, I will this time, when it dies back a bit! It's over-wintered just fine in the pot, in the barrel, but this barrel is in direct contact with 'mother earth'!

Rossizing or Zumbarizing, two similar but different methods of slicing and dicing hosts to promote eye growth. This was often done to hosta that were slow increasers to trigger bud growth. Ultimately, most people found they just wound up with many smaller plants. All the energy goes into bud growth and the plant and roots seem to suffer for it. The great news is that June\halcyon are great growers on their own, typically. I soak my new plant roots in water with root stimulator ... Sometimes, but not always, I wind up with smaller leaves the first spring because the energy of the plant is going into roots. But roots are the foundation of the house, so to speak. If you don't have a good foundation your house will fall. Or at least give you a lot of problems, lolz

Looks great! My DD had her eye lids lifted about a year ago. It made such a difference in her eyes; you can really see them now. She didn't do the eyebrow tattoo though.

Your eyes really do look more open and alert.

For my eyebrows if I'm not liking the gray I use a brown mascara on them. But it has to be a lighter brown. and that's not a good tip for blonds. but it works for me.

I wouldn't do anything permanent...I may someday decide to let my white hair be white (but I doubt it) and dark eyebrows would look strange.

I couldn't remember who had the eyelift. I wanted to ask about it because I've been curious about the surgery. Thank you for the post.

Thanks for the compliments, the eybrows are a little dark yet, after a couple of weeks the color fades out a bit and will look more natural.

It looks great. I had an eye lift about 5 years ago. I was fortunate my insurance paid for it. Both my sister and I had such drooping upper eyelids that it was affecting our vision.

Your eyebrows look great. I had mine tattooed too and I wish I had done it a long time ago. I love them.

My health insurance also paid for the eyelid lift.

I can see how this kind of cosmetic "altering" can become very addictive. I have to hold myself back from getting anything else done. The woman that did my eyebrows was trying to convince me to have permanent eyeliner done. I thought about it but decided not to.

Would someone post an approximate cost for the eye lift - I need one BADLY! I have an individual health plan through Coventry, so don't know if it would be covered or not.

My, what big eyes you have. I have droopy eyelids and wonder if I would be able to see better if my eyes were more open. I love your eyebrows!! I NEED them. How bad did the eyebrows hurt?? My face has a very low pain threshold. LOL!

Absolutely no pain with the eyebrows, even the eyelid surgery did not hurt. Had a lot of swelling with the eyelid surgery, and a lot of bruising.

I did the permanent eyeliner and also had my lips tattooed.
