Happy Hannukah!

Tonight is the first candle....our menu is pretty predictable, LOL - latkes! Also rib roast in honor of all the recent discussion, two types of cranberry sauce (Jezebel and regular), roast sweet potatoes, and steamed broccoli. The in-laws are bringing chocolate chip cookies, in lieu of jelly donuts LOL. DH will open a killer bottle of wine.

A good time was had by all!! Three are napping, one is packing, one is visiting friends, one is listening to music and I've taken a minute to turn on the computer and look at the news before tackling the mountain of dishes. I truly enjoyed cooking for the family this year and wanted to thank all of you for the pleasure that being part of the CF has brought me the past few months. Cooking is one way I've always had to show my family that I love them and it has been fun to find likeminded friends here. Peace and love to you all.... Grace

Don't get lost in the numerology part of it, I think the closest explanation in this article is that the Jews kept one on the table when they were studying the Torah (Bible, five books of Moses) as a distraction/alibi when approached by investigating Greek/Roman troops. Hi Ladies, I really didn't forget this nor did I forget your email Urlee. It's just a busy time of the year as you all well know..... Urlee you said "will have to admit, I was afraid to open this to see "what we have to do now"? (*Urlee running faster than ever*) Grins! I can find something for you to do if you would like. *wink wink* I did see a cute little siggy you did that I sure liked. :) I am being honest but I wouldn't dare ask you now. LOL Especially when I still owe you an email that I thought for sure I would be able to get to you before now. :( I am catching up now and I promise ya that you will have an email for when you get up in the morning. *smiles* Judy, the puppy is getting so big. She weighed 16 pounds when I got her at 7 weeks, she now weighs 40 pounds at 15 weeks. LOL She's a handful let me tell ya but as sweet as she can be. :) I can't help but to share a picture... These were at 13 weeks old. Excuse the mess with the old covers but she is a couch dog. \*grins\* and another.... She has worked to get the tape off her ears as you can see... not completely but close. LOL Sue, I saw your latest painting, beautiful as always. Oh yeah, latkes! Love 'em. Elery put a brisket in the smoker today too, so happy everything, everyone!

Actually, that was Carol's (dishesdone) quote. I still think that our holiday swaps aren't quite fair, gefilte fish for chocolate bunnies just doesn't seem quite even. (grin) Yeah, I know, wrong holiday. OK, so this year she can have the fruitcake and I get the latkes. Oh yeah, I like that swap.....

Wednesday was the second candle. I screwed up and read the wrong calendar and invited my small family for Wednesday but we had a great time.

My grandson's first latkes and he was so happy to have them, like several of his friends. And he measured the baking powder and pepper and mixed the Simply Potatoes with the flour and cracked the eggs. Me and dil fried. She's wonderful. Delicious.

Easy menu, kind of around the world. We had greek seasoned lamb kebobs, sour cream/cucumbers, tomatoes, meat loaf, apple sauce, home baked challah and artisan bread, fresh pineapple(we said Hawaii), Plate of lettuces, used for wraps. I forgot a lot of stuff. Except for the meat it was kind of milchicky(dairy). That's like, except for that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?)

I have done better in earler years, gelt, dreidle, and songs and lots more preparation, but this was what I did this year and we had fun.

DD graced our presence for periods of time(between shopping forays) aint no shopping in Missoula. Are there any latkes left??? We saved you some lovely lotkes.

Happy Hannuka. Hope the latke fest is going well. I'll have to make them I've not had them since I was a child.
