We would like to wish all a very Happy Holiday time also. And a big thank you for all the wonderful recipes, tips, and for sharing. But most of all, for some very good friends who were with us this past year when I (we) really needed it.

Melissa, We spend Christmas with my family in Toronto, then zip on Boxing Day (the 26th, also the Feast of St. Stephen) down to Tennessee to get together with my in-laws. But we leave just before everyone down here breaks out the black-eyed peas and hog jowls (it always amuses me as a northerner to see them advertised in the paper), to return to Toronto where for over a decade I've celebrated New Year's Eve with a sumptuous dinner at a dear friend's place. She's someone who, when I first knew her, didn't cook at all. But she took it on as a project and now lays on a multi-course extravaganza (foie gras appetizers, standing rib roasts, trous normands of homemade sorbets, etc.) for a dozen or more people every 31st. We feel very lucky to make the guest list. Some years our travel plans only allow us to arrive part way thorugh the festivities, but this year we've got a non-stop flight and are looking forward to being there from the first munch.... LOL Cathy! I know that's heresy, but there are those of us who are gravy challenged. That said, I bought gravy from Gelson's (made by them) and took it to DD's house. Come to find out that no one but DGS Mason (20 months) would eat it! The rest liked their turkey plain or with cranberries. So go figure! DSIL said that his mashed potatoes were so moist that who needed gravy? LOL! Susie, great photos! Loved seeing Amy, Drew and Frank and of course that darling little pixie! I hit the road at 8:30 this morning for an early but stressful doctor's appt. All was perfect and I was back in the car in 23 minutes! That NEVER happens at UCLA! So, I made the best of an early morning and hit Crate & Barrel and the mall. I bought a few things, but wasn't impressed with the prices or the merchandise enough to buy much. I did snag a great quality cashmere sweater, but that was my only real buy. Home to put my feet up and we'll catch up with Netflix and the DVR tonight. Dinner is leftover roasted veggies, stuffing and I'll make some almond parmesan crusted fish for the entree. Stay warm and dry everyone!! It's a blustery chilly day here in sunny L.A. Wait a minute. A truck crashed into your house? Did I miss this story? My MIL once was having lunch in Georgetown and a car crashed through the window of the restaurant. The waiters had to get her to move to another table, I think she would have sat there eating her salad while the radiator of the car was releasing its steam. :) I also want to say thank you to everybody for all the help and hand holding you are providing me with lately. Happy Holiday's to all. However you celebrate, stay warm and safe. I hope no one is stuck in an airport or in a snowbank and you are with the ones you love. Most of us have had some pretty nasty weather to deal with.

Recovering from latke fest....and preparing for stickey buns in about 10 hours ( -perhaps less) and all that comes later.

A good time was had by all!! Three are napping, one is packing, one is visiting friends, one is listening to music and I've taken a minute to turn on the computer and look at the news before tackling the mountain of dishes.

I truly enjoyed cooking for the family this year and wanted to thank all of you for the pleasure that being part of the CF has brought me the past few months. Cooking is one way I've always had to show my family that I love them and it has been fun to find likeminded friends here.

Happy Everything to Everyone, as dishesdone once told me.

As this holiday season slowly winds down and a New Year is about to begin, I'm wishing all my "imaginary friends" here at CF a happy and healthy year to come, filled with friends and good food, and a big Thank You to everyone here for all their kind words and thoughts, prayers and support, virtual dinners and personal visits.

Just wanted to say Happy Holidays, as well. I realized this afternoon that all but one dish that I prepared came from this forum. LOL It's so nice to have people to "talk recipes" with.
