Our Easter was very nice, but very tiring. I went to the early services at 7:30, the breakfast and then came home and got busy getting our dinner ready. When I left, breakfast was still going on. At that time, they had eaten over 2 dozen of the 4 dozen banana pineapple muffins I had taken. I had our dinner ready by 12:30 but we didn't eat until 1:00. One son in law didn't come because he was sick, otherwise all were here. After all the eating and visiting was done, all went home except our oldest daughter and son in law. She washed up all the things that wouldn't fit into the dishwasher which was really appreciated. After they left, I took a late nap. After getting up, our youngest son in law called and asked if I had any desserts left. He came and I gave him a great many slices of the home made angel food cake, two banana pineapple muffins and a couple of hands full of chocolates! He didn't want to take anything when they left, wasn't thinking he would be hungry later. Our daughter had taken a to go box and had her food, but he didn't so he was hungry. I had no trouble sleeping last night as I was still tired. I didn't even eat any supper. Our day was very nice, great weather and the daffodils still blooming away.

Started out bitter cold--30's is way, way too cold for Easter Sunday. So I didn't do the tilling I'd originally planned to work on. Then we were packing up to come home from the country (we'd actually had our Easter dinner on Saturday, with dd). Was just pulling in the driveway at home when my phone rang. My sister. Just got back from a trip to visit the grands, where they all passed the flu around, her DIL's DM died, so they had the funeral, one of the grands was in a cast, and the trip ended Sat. with a major accident on I-95. Won't get into the details, but they're SO lucky to be alive, and that no one else was killed. I'm still sick at my stomach to visualize what happened to them, and to think how it could have ended up.

Only good part was that I DID get to talk to my sister, I didn't have to run down and identify her at the morgue.

Were there injuries in the accident?

Do they need some of the famous KT prayers? In addition to the thankful ones that they escaped without serious injury (it appears) ... or quite possibly death, auto accidents being what they are.

I'm sorry to hear all that Azzalea. I hope things are getting better.

We had a beautiful day here. I slept in until 8 (although Gary was up early as usual), then I made brownies (which I decorated with pink and yellow easter eggs (designed in decorator frosting) and jelly beans plus mixed up my corn casserole to take for dinner at my sister in law's house. Then we walked to Easter Services at a small church just a block from home. We enjoyed the church and the services tremendously and plan to go back this coming Sunday. I don't know why we've never stopped in there before, during the 10 months we've lived here. There are two of these little churches near us. This one only one block and the other only two blocks from our home.

After that, it was time to take the dogs on a nice long walk (did I mention it was a warm sunny day) and then pack up to go for dinner, which was at 3 pm. Although most of the yards here in town are still under several inches of snow, we did walk by one yard where crocus were blooming up by the front door. What a pretty sign of spring!

We stopped at Walmart on the way, wanting to pick up an Easter Lily for Gary's mom, but the few they had left were pretty sad looking so we ended up with a pot of tulips instead. Just one pretty red tulip was opened and there were a dozen buds so they will last her a while, then she can plant them in the yard. We stopped by her house for a few minutes and then went on to his sister's for dinner. Spent a couple of enjoyable hours there, then stopped back at his mom's again to check on the sump pump in the basement. The hose had come unhooked so the pump was working but no water flowing and there was a foot of water standing down there. This is an old house with a primitive basement and it's like that every spring, so nothing new there. Gary was able to wade in and get it going ok.

After that, we drove around for a while 'out in the bush' as Gary calls it. Just enjoying seeing the snow and the ice on Lake Superior melt. There's not much growing out there yet, but we saw a few deer and the birch and aspen trees are lovely (even bare) with all that pretty white bark.

Then it was home for another walk with the puppies and a couple of hours of tv before bedtime. All in all a lovely day!

I'm sorry your Easter didn't go well Azzalea.I'm glad your sister's family wasn't hurt in that accident, though.

My day was very nice. The weather was a little cool, but sunny. While everything was cooking, I was playing in the greenhouse, which I thoroughly enjoyed. eople started arriving in the afternoon- and I was the happy recipient of two potted flowering plants and a box of chocolates. There were 12 of us for dinner. I did forget to put the sweet potatoes on the table, but we'll eat them this week.

My SIL and her daughter's boyfriend almost got in a fight. Well, they were having a discussion that got heated. That didn't really bother me- my SIL is loud and opinionated and the boyfriend can hold his own. It blew over anyway.

DH cleaned up and did all the dishes as usual. I very much appreciate that he does that. After everyone left I took the dogs out and one of them rolled in the mud and got herself filthy. She rarely does that, but off to the greenhouse we went for baths, I figured I might as well bathe them both. Over all, it was a nice day.

Mine went well. I usually don't accept invitation to holiday dinners, but did this time. There were 5 adults, 3 children and 5 dogs. Didn't hear a complaint from anyone. LOL

Speaking of dogs ...

We have a monthly meeting of an investment group tonight, and the company that is to present, working in infrastructure, symbol "arf-un.to" is one of those unit trusts that agreed to pay out most of their profit, in order to avoid taxation, with the income being taxed in the subscribers' hands: several have been paying 10 - 15 - 20% rate of return (highly taxed).

I sent out a message to a number of the members recalling the Little Orphan Annie comic strip, in which Orphan Annie had a very rich friend, Daddy Warbucks ... and a dog, Sandy, as I recall, who in almost every appearance, added his opinion of "Arf" to the conversation.

I hoped that this company wouldn't turn out to be a "dog" (who says "Arf")!

DH and I drove 7 hours yesterday and I ended up with a headache.

I got up at 5:30, not intentionally but woke up so got up...had my coffee, checked the sky, it looked pretty bleak. Hung around on here for 45 minutes, checking the sky every little bit. Once it was light out sky didn't look too bad so decided to go to the outdoor market with the full van load I priced and packed on Saturday. Got to the market at 7, got set up and then it started to get pretty windy and pretty cold. It was rather slow customer wise as it was not a nice day out at all, spent 5 hours there freezing my patootey off - commandeered a lovely pair of socks I had in a box to wear as gloves! Ended up making $104 for the day, but was happy when it was over!
Went to the store after that for a few Easter treats as I had not got that done earlier in the week.
Went home and organized that stuff, then had a nap for an hour and a half.
Got up and took my daughter to drugstore to get her prescription filled as she was out of her medication. Ordered chinese food for dinner and enjoyed that and no mess to deal with. Only 3 of us this year as the rest of the family couldn't make it, so I didn't make a big meal.
Watched Amazing Race and Celebrity Apprentice and went off to bed, content and at peace with the world...

We started with thunder storms, so no sunrise service :^(
Loaded/unloaded all our church stuff in rain, so was glad that I'm no believer in new clothes for Easter, they would have had an unscheduled bath!:^)
Choir did special music that took some preparation beforehand, so did that.
Had a really lovely morning service and communion, then DH took me to lunch to celebrate our 12th anniversary!
Home, unload all the church stuff again, and then the sky cleared and we had a lovely afternoon. I worked in the yard for a while and then we went for a ride to enjoy God's special Easter flower presentation!
OJ, my church just left the Congregational(English)/United church group to go back to it's roots of the Evangelical and Reformed (German). That must mean that we are sort of related :^). Glad you had a good day!
