Please help me find the right mirror and lighting for the powder

I am updating my powder room, changing the pedetal sink to a white vessel sink on a dark vanity. Here is where I am now, the faucet color is delta aged pewter.

although the vanity is not finished yet, I start to think about mirror and lighting.

I like to hear about your thougfht onthe right mirrot and lighting for this powder room.

should i use the same color dark frame mirror or different (lighter?) color frame?

what about the stype of the mirror? same stype as the vanity or a simpler one? The same stype mirror would be difficult to find.

Also, any suggestion about the ligfhting?

All suggestions are welcomed, thank you very much!

love the vanity; is it an actual vanity or a repurposed piece of furniture?

I would look at dressers online of that style. Many have mirrors attached. You can see how those mirror styles fit with the curve of the legs and top

Very nice. This looks like a good spot for a dramatic dark paint application. At least on the sink wall. You might also do that whole area in a full mirror. Otherwise, I might be thinking tall and narrow. Hard to get a feel for the space, though, other than it looks like a great bathroom!

House is not built so options are open though the floor will likely be a continuation of the wood from the adjoining rooms. The room will be built up under a stair so it is small. We will use a pocket door to maximize space. Yes, I do want a tiny bit of storage...just enough to hide spare tp and hand soap. Don't care what the counter material is. If it matters there will be a small wet bar across the hall about 4 feet. We haven't made all of the decisions about that either. The last thought was that we might use a copper sink with a lit artistic backsplash. The wetbar will definitely be stained a medium dark brown. Don't know quite what to say about budget. I would love for it not cost a lot though I know it's relative. The powder room will definitely not be the wow point for my house. I'd rather it be closer to "builder" grade the billionaire. I'm more likely to spend $700 on a light than I am to spend $3000 on the vanity. Does that help?

Needing to get the room "done", we used the boxes we had. Maybe will change out to something "lighter" like Jodie White Designs posted. I like that. I wanted to share the temporary "finished" product and say thanks for all the comments. We tried 10 different mirrors, but nothing seemed better than what we had. Still looking for something with a narrower frame but the one we have now is growing on me. Tundra on the walls and Deep Space on the ceiling. New light fixture. I feel like we need something on the wall (left side if you're facing the sink) - maybe a larger art work or a black and white framed print. I love the suggestion of the orchid on the counter to fill the space / extra height. Thank you!

your tile does look lavender. what is your vanity color? My sister has done a lighter lavender gray in her kitchen, with white cabinets. The tile is a soft grayish limestone look-a-like luxury vinyl. The whole room is so well put together, color wise. She had a kitchen designer help her. I don't know who chose the whites and gray. She probably chose the lavender gray, and the team chose the white for the cabinets and case work. The point I'm making, is get a color that goes with the tile, while in the room. The lighting will make a huge difference with color. And our own personal preferences. Type of lighting will change the color of paint throughout the day. Maybe you know all this. Paint color can be tricky because of the lighting. When I was choosing my paint for my second bathroom, I wanted something different than the typical greens/blues that I've used throughout the house. So I tried a tan. The room has tan and browns in it. Out of 4 samples I selected a good candidate. I painted the whole room and about puked when I was done. My neighbor loved it. To me it went pink, like antique pepto-bismol. I got another paint and redid the whole room lickity split, in a greenish blue gray, almost white. I love the color. It goes with my tiles, as did the other paint, but I just couldn't stand the pink that I saw. And I like pink. Anyway, I'd go with the color of the tile, matched with paint, darker or lighter, when you have the correct lighting you want in the room. I would then use accessories as complementary or analogous colors for interest.

I can't make out how much space you're working with there, because it looks much wider in the 3rd picture than in the others.
I found a picture of a recessed vanity similar to yours. I don't know if you have enough room to do sconces on either side of a tall, narrow mirror, but this will give you an idea of what it might look like. I think you need to stick with vintage style accessories.

Do you like these mirrors? I think they could add a little sparkle & dress up the PR without overdoing it, They would work with your vanity style. The small rectangle was actually $35 at our local HD.

That is a lovely vanity! I think you can get some interesting mirrors at antique places or auctions if that is something that interests you. Probably EBay or etsy too. I like unusual mirrors in bathrooms though :)

I wish I had a close up. it is a carved mirror. I like having the lighting over the mirror and then an overhead light in our PR. We dont have any windows so it is dark in there. I have also painted the walls a very light green, stained the vanity and moved a few things around since this picture was taken.

This was my before :)

You wouldn't think people would be able to make a small room so hideous right>? Peach sink and toilet, pink and blue wallpaper, red and cream tile. I shudder just thinking about it. :)

I bet there are lots of examples on pinterest or google too.

This is a poor quality cell phone image of our powder room. Ours may be a bit more modern style than your objective but with an ebony vanity and white vessel perhaps helpful.

We installed 3.5" pentants above a 26" vanity. The mirror is 16" x 48". It was made that tall to cover the electrical box from an earlier above-the-sink light but can be slid aside to access the electrical box if necessary.

I guess a few coats of paint did wonders to this repurposed dresser/night stand. the original dresser was really not pretty.

That space is about 31"w x 24"d, the vanity is 30.5 w x 19" d, the rest of room is 64 x 59

Beth, you are right, it's a repurposed dresser/cabinet! I just sanded and painted. My original plan was to get a granite top, but I got lazy, so i kept the top instead, and hoping i can get away with multiple coats of polyurethane.

Snookum2, by "dramatic color application", do you mean paint the mirror wall some dark rich color, like crimson red or something?

Chickadee2, I am thinking of sconce too. The space is 31" wide, not sure if it will be too crowded.

Annie, do you have a picture of art glass pendant you have in mind?

Awm03, only $35 at your local store? I am amazed at the price difference!

Boobadaboo, you have a pretty powder room now! Why the second towel ring? It seems we have a similar kind of PR, no window, towel bar at the same place. As for hideous PR, mine was just as bad. I had chrome faucet ,towel bar and toilet paper ring, but GOLD lighting fixture! What's worse? I didn't even notice that until much later:-( I think is says as much about my eyes as it does about builder's sloppy work:-( :-(

Fmnrobert, you have a really nice PR! The pendant lighting is really really good idea for a narrow place!!!
