I agree-shutters would look great on the windows in the brick area. Your home is beautiful. I would tie the shutter color to whatever you decide for the door which is also very pretty--on my monitor the door looks good--maybe a darker stain would finish it off for you.

Your house is beautiful! (And I don't think the door is all that tragic!) As for the shutters, I agree that shutters can really polish up the exterior of a house. However, I can tell you that there is a house in my neighborhood where the owners only put shutters on 2 of their windows (similar to your configuration) and it has always just seemed a little "off" to me. It doesn't look bad, but it somehow looks unfinished...I think it is because of the asymmetry. I am no expert, that's just my gut feeling when I see the house. Have you tried to photoshop shutters on the upper far left and upper far right shutters as well, just to get an idea? Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be beautiful.

I would add shutters to all the windows except the big paladian and the single window over the double garage door (only because it looks like there would not be enough room for the shutters). I think shutters will help finish off your beautiful home:) I LOVE your front door, why are you replacing it???? If you are unhappy with the stain, try priming it and painting it. If you dislike the glass (which I think is unique) you can probably change the glass with out changing the door. One thing I might do is paint the garage doors a little darker and more brown, the color has a lot of mauve/gray in it. I like that they tried to blend the garage doors into the brick, its just the wrong tone.

I do not know how to photo shop? If you can photo shop, could you please do this for me? I would love to see it!! I could just do the front living room window. I just thought that adding the upstairs bedroom window too would make sence, since then we would have shutters on all brick locations. Please share......

Sorry, I dont know how to photoshop. I agree with kimbo that by doing 2 out of 5 windows would look unfinished. The one window lacks the space but I dont think leaving one window out will look odd.

OK, I just did a *very* poor mock up of your house and accidentally closed it without saving (aarrggghhh, new computer!) I did just enough to give me an idea of what it would look like with the 4 big windows versus the 2 on the brick...definitely do the 4!! It looked great (and as gk5040 noted, the small one left as is looks fine). Good luck.

Gk5040.......The color in the photo came out wrong. Can you please look at the last picture from my post , it is more like the color? Do you still think we should paint the garage doors?
The front door has a defect and is fogging up between the glass. Lowes will replace when it is nicer outside. Do you think that we should paint the door or stain it?

We live in a " track production home" subdivision, and I would like to have our house have some more interest since they all look like square boxes to me. Very little detail, which for some reason is now bothering me. I was also thinking about changing the exterior lighting to something bigger and with more interest too.

Do you all like this one. It looks handcrafted, and easy to make. What do you think?
