Ok that's easy enough. I thought we had a bit more room on that facing wall but I can work with that. I don't like a tv jack that requires submission in decor. Since money isn't an object, (and frankly it's not expensive to do) how about we string cable under the carpet to a different location? Are you totally opposed to that? If you don't do that, you are going to be greeting your guests as they walk into the house with the backs of your furniture, which is both unapealing and heck I think it's also not fungi swayed either (I don't do fung but they do have some good principals). There's also wireless cable...do you have that in your area? I know it's realistic to have TV in your home, so I'm not trying to take that out of the room, but I also think you need to consider that this is the room your guests see first. It sets a tone for the house and should be a primary focus for you, given that you don't have a large entry hall (most homes don't now a days). I didn't draw it in here, but one thing I think is a must is that you should have a small table (round) on the entry landing in front of that long window. Or a globe on a stand, something to break the space from living room and entry mentally and physically. You'll be excited to know that you are now going to become a world class globe collector. I've decided that you either travel, or have always wanted to travel and thus...globes are your passion :) You don't have millions, but you do have some wonderful ones scattered throughout the room you exotic little fool you! Your new style is classy and traditional...if you should choose to accept my design :oP But also incorporates influences from around the world :)

I would buy the largest rug possible for the area with the sectional which will help to "pull out" the sofa from that corner. Something with a bit of color to liven up the monochromatic look of the wall and sectional would really help. Instead of red I would consider yellow or lime green pillows, and also pillows with more colors and patterns. I don't see any lighting in that corner which gives it a rather "dead" look. A tall lamp to the left of the sectional would add height to that area in addition to light. Since the mantel already has a shelf-like look, I'm not sure whether shelves are the best idea. They should at least look very different in design and I would paint them the color of the wall. That will make whatever you put on them really stand out. It's a very nice room otherwise. If you like art, a beautiful picture over the mantel would make that area more of a focal point.

If you have lots of art try some on either side of the fireplace, remove that mantel and get one in a wood similar to the table and add some proper trim around the fireplace. The mantel is too high to do much for decor. It seems odd to have the fireplace in this narrow DR was it something else before ? Some nice window coverings , remove the stacked tables in the corner and the clutter from the ledge.When doing the art just keep working at what works well together and I would google how to hang multiple art on a wall.I don’t love gallery walls but sometimes they do the trick if done right.

Wing back chairs are a traditional look. What is your style? If I were picking out furniture for an area like that, I would want an ottoman for my feet, and as much as they scream hospital to me, maybe a set of interlocking "C" side tables so that if I and my significant other both would like to have coffee and something to nibble on at the same time, we can both have a table to use, rather than having to worry about everything fitting on the one table, or having to get a gigantic table in the middle, and still having to twist to the side to reach something on it which as you get older is less and less of a cinch. At least those "C" tables these days are getting better looking and you can put them right in front of you if you want for your java and croissant and your morning paper (boy, am I dating myself) and you don't have to feel like you are using the hospital table, they are getting so good looking now. You may know that men like a big leather chair, and they are marvelous. And if you get a nice dark brown, a little spilled coffee or dog slobber can be easily wiped up. Or not even noticed :) Some men loove a leather recliner. And some women swear they would never have one in their house. If you can lean a bit modern-ish, a great compromise is the classic Eames chair with the matching ottoman. You can get a great replica.
