Balancing an off-center room

Hi! Thank you for reading my post!

I’m hoping for some advice on what to do with this wall (I’ve added a red box on the wall to make sure you see which wall I’m talking about). So, the light above the wood table and the table are centered in the dining space to the right of the kitchen/island. Unfortunately, the windows are not centered in this area and it feels off. Is there something I could do to in that red box to make it seem more…balanced, I guess?

As a side note, I am thinking to put some artwork (maybe a gallery wall) on the wall to the right of the windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

a great idea. Something with a little color.

If it were mine, I'd swap the light fixtures. Hanging over the dining table, flush over the island, there is already a lot going on over there with the open shelving, and daily island clutter..

I'd leave that wall as is and hang a rectangular piece of art on the wall in the dining area. You don't need symmetry, you need balance. As Lyn mentioned, switching the light fixtures will help as well.

We are just seeing one view of the space, more pictures would be helpful.

I think that you should only consider sight lines. In your case everyone will be coming in the door and presumably looking dead ahead. you'll get the most bang (since I assume you'll have some fabulous fixture in your entry) if you centre the lights on the door. Also a centred light viewed through the transom windows above a front door is a great warm greeting from the street (if your door is surrounded by glass). I went through the build process recently myself (moved in two months ago) trust me, you can't over think this stuff. There are tiny details all over the place now that I wish I had given more consideration. They don't spoil the experience of my new house, it's not that bad, but they do draw my eye in over and over and over. One of those niggling issues is my dining room light fixture which is centred on the dimensions of the room per plan, but does not account for the fact that the dining room opens to both a hall and my foyer so visual appears much bigger.

Congratulations on your new baby! I think if there was one thing causing the balance problem it would be that the tv stand is way too small. You could do a longer credenza type model and still have your TV centered on the couch. Then you could move your sculpture to the left a little and down to balance the weight. Good luck!

There are some truly amazing options out there for hidden TVs. If you were open to any of them, that might make your arrangement easier. being able to place things without having an obvious TV in the room when it isn't in use. We have a TV mounted above a fireplace and it ends up straining your neck to look up that high from a couch. Keep the TV low wherever you end up with it.

Thank you very much for the rendering! I was trying to visualize what this would look like and this helps! One question, would you hang it the way you show in the picture (in an east-west orientation) or would it be better in a north-south direction?

I would do north-south. The rendering is east-west because I don't know how to turn it in Photoshop.
