It has been six weeks since the surgeon saw my leg.
The nuclear bone scan was done one week after I saw the surgeon. Every week since then, I have called his office at least three times, trying to find out what was going on because my leg is getting weaker, swelling more and hurting a lot.
A week ago the PA called in a panic because the bone scan showed some loosening of the new joint and some small fractures and said I needed to immediately get some blood work done to rule out infection. I got that bloodwork done a week ago yesterday.
The nurse called Monday.
She'd seen the bloodwork AND the scan results and says I need to get to the office ASAP because my leg is deterioating around the new joint BUT they can't fix it until May.
My insurance company covers the first three thousand dollars of medical bills. After that, medical expenses are to be paid for by the insurance of the guy who hit me. A trip to the ER and about ten minutes of the bone scan ate up the three grand.
At all three medical visits the facility has insisted I also give them billing information from our health insurance from Custer's job. So, on every claim, three insurance companies are listed. My vehicle insurance agent suggested I start sending claims to the second car that jolted me making a total of four insurance companies!
I have heard from my auto insurance company twice this week; our health insurance company once and the other driver's insurance twice this week. The other driver's insurance is making noises that since it's been so long for the doctor to make a diagnosis whatever is wrong with my leg wasn't caused by the accident.
My health insurance doesn't see why they should be picking up the tab because of the accident. My insurance is just keeping track of the other auto insurance.
I was suppose to be at the doctor's at 3:30 today.
At ten am I checked my messages and there was yet ANOTHER message from the other driver's insurance, pressuring me about my leg injury and inferring it was not caused by the accident.
I called the doctor's office and cancelled.
The nurse wanted to know why.
My BIG concern is I'm going to be a cripple because I don't have an extra thirty thousand dollars laying around to front a new knew replacement while the insurance companies bicker amongst themselves and eventually go to court for ruling of who should pay. I told her I was not ready to incur more medical bills on this until I knew I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. We're already into this nearly five thousand dollars of which only three has been paid.
The nurse was very understanding then the doctor called me.
I'd calmed down somewhat but I let him know how frustrating his staff had made my life. For instance, he didn't even KNOW I have loosening of the joint and small fractures. He hasn't SEEN the radioactive bone scan report and he no idea of what his PA and nurse had told me about the surgery and when it could be performed. I he could tell me, however, there was no infection.
I also told him I was concerned about working.
Do I stop?
What can I do?
Am I restricted?
Do I stay home?
The other driver's insurance SHOULD pay for any lost work time but I also have a personal accident insurance policy which would cover me BUT only in the case of an accident.
There's a whole bunch of lawyers on tv who claim they'll get you a hundred thousand dollars, which would be nice but right now I'm just concerned about getting my leg fixed. THEN I'll worry about any permanent damage, caused not only from the accident but from the doctor not keeping up with my case.
Ay Yi Yi.
LOL
Day's like today make me wish I still drank.....
Good thoughts please, if anything, for my shot nerves.
LOL
I swear I've ground my teeth down to nubs the past two months...oh jeez! It just occurred to me I might need dental work to correct this!
I put in a call this afternoon to the attorney who handled our case/settlement with the power company and the damage done to our property. Maybe he can enlighten me?
Like I said, my main goal is to get this leg fixed before it gets any worse and that someone, I don't care who, pays for it and leaves me out of any litigation.
Note to self: go to the liquor store tomorrow and get some Crown then visit the grocery store for some white raisins.
I need raisin therapy really REALLY bad....LOL
