Antonio was just 13 months old.

UPDATE 4:24 p.m. -- BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) -- Police have arrested two teenagers suspected in the shooting death of a baby in a stroller and the wounding of the baby's mother.

Brunswick Police Chief Tobe Green said Friday that 17-year-old De'Marquis Elkins is charged with first-degree murder as an adult.

The 14-year-old is also charged with murder, but he was not identified because he is a juvenile.

The chief said police were still investigating the motive and searching for a weapon.

The mother, Sherry West, said she was walking near her home Thursday morning with her baby, Antonio, when she was approached by two boys who demanded money. She was shot in the leg and a bullet grazed her ear.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A Georgia woman said Friday a teenager trying to rob her at gunpoint asked "Do you want me to kill your baby?" before he fatally shot her 13-month-old son in the head.

Sherry West wept while she told The Associated Press that she pleaded with the gunman and a younger accomplice who approached her Thursday morning while she walked near their home in coastal Brunswick.

"He asked me for money and I said I didn't have it," she said. "When you have a baby, you spend all your money on babies. They're expensive. And he kept asking and I just said `I don't have it.' And he said, `Do you want me to kill your baby?' And I said, `No, don't kill my baby!'"

Police were combing school records and canvassing neighborhoods searching for the pair. While police have said the two boys were between the ages of 10 and 15, the mother says she believes the younger boy was as young as 5 years old.

She said the teen fired four shots, the first into the ground. West didn't see a shell casing ejected, and said she assumed the gun wasn't real.

Then he fired at her head and the bullet grazed her left ear - she has a small scab and bruising there. He fired again and shot her in the left leg above the knee. "I didn't know I was hurt."

"The boy proceeded to go around to the stroller and he shot my baby in the face," she said. "And then he just shoved me when I started screaming and he ran down London Street with the little boy."

Police spokesman Todd Rhodes gave few details about the investigation Friday, but said no weapon has been found and that investigators were checking school attendance records for leads.

Several people in the neighborhood called 911 after they heard the gunshots fired, but Rhodes said investigators believed that the mother was the only witness to what happened.

This is Wonderfull!...Blue Birders my hats off to you! Bare with me...I'm a little scattered and my time is limited. First things first .....I know this sounds lame but my internet provider for my home computer has not given me the service that I was paying for so I have no service at this time. I'm going to take care of that hopefully this weekend.I'am able to log on at work to do some things in between the work that I do. I'll post photos as soon as I start new internet service. I was concerned with the present conditions for Harry & Sally. So before I signed on to the forum I tried to contact the good people at NABS. A gentlemen there called me yesterday evening we talked for 30 min or so and gave he me advise I will always keep in mind ..... he said try not to fix things before they happen. I must have done something good if they came to that box. I'm going to make the neccesary changes to bring this box up to specs as it stays mounted to the pole.(wren guard,stove pipe) It dosen't open so I'm going to put a bigger roof (and a nest cam) on it and acess it by removing the roof for now. There is one off spec that I don't want to mess with. The hole height dim from the floor to the hole itself is .75 short of 5.75. I peeked in the hole and noticed that there is nesting material.I will be removing the roof this weekend. I'm expecting it to be empty. It's too late for babies right? Honest? I'd change the paint color. It's not right. Is it horrible OMG the neighbors are going to call and report you to the HOA? No. But it's not right. There is so much potential for the house to look stunning -- instead of just okay -- it almost makes me tear up. I'd be looking more closely @ the following: - There's too little contrast. I think it could handle more color and/or more drama on the B&B. Only question is could you. As for which paint colors specifically, I dunno. Have to think about it. - The arrangement of windows and front door has me drooling. OMG. Something fabulous and bold for the front door color. A dark purple or something like Red Miso from Martha Stewart at SW. - Maybe it makes more sense in person, but I wonder why the garage peak boards were run horizontally only with out the apex detail like on the house. The different widths of siding and boards doesn't flow together well -- a different paint color, however, could change that. The reason I question it is because the windows on the house are so well-done and so balanced and that side of the house is telling a lovely story of symmetry then your eye meanders over to the garage and it's a little like WTH. The garage peak dimensions look identical if not pretty darn close to the house peaks. Mirroring the vertical/horizontal boards on the garage seems like it could be a good idea --- from my seat in the virtual peanut gallery. - I'm concerned that you said that you didn't like the color of white that's up there with the siding. White windows doesn't mean you're obligated to match the trim to that window white -- unless you want to. If you wanted warmer, creamier trim you could still do that and leave the windows white. - Don't feel rushed. If someone has to wait a day or three for you to decide about the repaint, it's not going to kill them. If you need more time, tell them you need more time. (I definitely wouldn't ask, I'd tell, but I'm pushy)

Elderly cats do get kidney disease plus heart congestion, our 17 year old cat did and we gave medication, special foods and he hated it and was so thin. Talk about hard, I phoned and got an appointment and told my mom I did and started sobbing and she told me to cancel it. I did puzzled why? She said if its too hard, we won't do it. I said no, its time and I phoned back and my dad and I sobbed all the way there to the vet and then we had to wait while this lady had 4 cats to get checked and then it was our turn and the room they took us in was the same as they check the cats and there was others behind us and so it was a rushed goodbye and I didn't like that at all. We all sobbed and cried, he was my precious, I can still see him coming down the hallway upstairs in my parents place and him yelling his head off and I would say he needs his four hugs a day as he demanded them daily. He was my beloved and I miss him still alot and its been 6 years since we said goodbye. Its a huge gap in our lives when we lose our beloved pets, doesn't matter how little or how long they are with us, that bond is so deep and so strong. Just built a 2 story retirement home. The only rooms upstairs are a small MBR and small MBa. I like going upstairs to bed and I like perching up there on the windowseat to look out at the world. And I'm also of the use it or lose it school. But I had a friend who became disabled in his 30s while living in an old house with upstairs bedrooms and only a powder room on the first floor. They had to add a complicated lift to the tune of what I recall as 10K, but it was worth it not to move. Decided then we would never have a house that was not at least livable on one level. So we have a curbless shower downstairs in a larger bathroom, wide-ish halls and doors, and one barrier-free entry. A guest room on the first floor that we could use if we couldn't get upstairs. But actually, the location of the place, far from medical services of any complexity, is not suitable for anyone who is too feeble, anyway. So that was our compromise. It also means that our house is "visitable" on the first floor for people with different levels of mobility.

Crying for the mother and baby. Can't help wondering if drugs are the root of this. We need to lower the juvie age. I know brains don't fully mature to age 21 but a 14 year old should have the concept that killing is wrong fully developed no matter how video games glorify it. Chalk another story up for the need for gun control.

Senseless, absolutely senseless! Is it the violent videos that make these teenagers feelingless? I just don't understand it. So glad they got these boys. Prison is too good for them.

I read that the 17 yr. old will be charged as an adult. I hope this savage stays locked up in solitary confinement for the rest of his sorry life. I don't believe this level of evil can even be rehabilitated.

So sad!!! I hope the 17 yr.old gets the electric chair!! Why make the taxpayers keep him,he doesn't deserve to live either!

It is sad and much of this goes on without getting reported. I think the name of all juveniles should be posted. I also have compassion for the boys families. But then with all I see on TV, news media, programs, and other electronic gear, I am NOT surprised.

This has left me so sad and depressed ever since I heard about it. Literally sick at my stomach. I cannot imagine how that poor mother felt when confronted like that. And that poor little baby. Execution is too good for those monsters. What is this world coming to??

The father claims he blames the mother because he has told her numerous times not to walk the route she took in dangerous areas.

The mother, well, she's already packing up anything to do with the slain baby, giving some of it away. I guess she doesn't want any remembrance of him laying about the house. She also isn't keeping the baby's cremation ashes, - she had the funeral home "dispose of them".

Baby Antonio is back once again in the arms of his Creator; the One who will love him for Eternity.

Incredibly sad, especially that the 2 people responsible are really just children themselves. So many lives ruined.

Sorry, but I do **NOT** agree with this comment (posted above):

Children don't have to "fully understand life" to know that it's wrong to commit murder.

An eight year old child can understand that it's wrong to inflict pain on other people.

The two "youths" that committed this heinous crime can't hide behind any excuses, IMHO.

I hope they're swiftly dealt with, and subjected to the harshest penalties our justice system can inflict.

My heart aches for that mother.

I can't fault mom for not wanting the ashes. It is not the way she wants to remember her son. Right now, her decisions are being made under very intense grief with no preparatory time.

I would think the mother is in shock. She is packing up and moving out of Brunswick. She also had a son who was killed/died when he was a teen, I believe. Heard it on CNN but I was half asleep. I did see her interview and she was rightfully bitter and said she hoped they died and that she'd never forgive them. I have to agree with her statements. I couldn't either.

My kids didn't step on ants when they were toddlers. They were taught by me that it was life, and we never kill anything. These kids were coldblooded killers who should get the death penalty which they won't. Now we have to house them the rest of their miserable lives. Little immoral cretins.

I agree with Patti and Rosemary. I don't know how I would react if something like that happened to me. I can't even imagine it. I would be bitter....more than bitter. I don't think I would even want to live in this world any longer. How could anyone possibly cope with something that sudden, so tragic and cruel?
