The one that had Nestle's quick dry milk, coffee creamer, powdered sugar...but how much of each?

Hi, I use this recipe. My hubby says it's better than Swiss Miss. This also makes alot. I use my roaster pan to mix it in.
Hot Chocolate Mix
8 oz. coffee creamer (I use the cheapest)
16 oz. Nestle Quik
12 oz. powdered sugar
25.6 oz. dry milk (powdered)
Use 3 to 4 Tablespoons per cup

Not particularly humid. I would say average. I just made it yesterday, and it was a fairly nice day. I am guessing the crystalization of the powdered sugar has something to do with they process.... ie... Heating the chocolate too much before adding the sugar, or... Heating the chocolate and sugar mixture too much.... or... not heating the chocolate and sugar enough. The "Heat just a little" part of my mom's recipe has always been the most vague to me.

granjan--On the Good Eats show about making chocolate chip cookies, Alton uses melted butter in the one he calls "The Chewy." The recipe has some other things that set it apart from a standard chocolate chip recipe (bread flour, 1 egg and 1 egg yolk, mostly brown sugar), so I guess melting the butter does indeed help with making chewy cookies. I use the recipe all the time (got a batch chilling as I type) because we prefer chewy cookies. By the way, my mother's name is Jan. My children call her Gran.

The reason for the added cocoa is the reduced size of the nestles quick container. Originally, the recipe called for the 32oz, 2 pounds. My hubby, the math genius, did some kind of fancy math figuring and came up with about 1/3 cup was missing from the container that was 30oz. There wasn't any way to figure out the preportions of what is in the nestles quick so my daughter said to just toss in 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa and see how it turns out, since trying to reduce everything else might not work. So I just tossed in the unsweetened hersheys cocoa and have been doing it ever since. It does taste a little richer than it used to, actually a little more chocolate taste too. Just wish these manufacturers would stop changing sizes on us. It's hard to use old recipes when they change the size of containers.

John, that's very close to my recipe, but I use hot milk instead of water. My oldest daughter does that too, but she uses coconut milk or almond milk. I love Nutella, it's so bad for me, LOL. LindaC, I used to make a cocoa mix for the girls to give to teachers, it had Coffee Mate in it. It was better than the cocoa mixed available commercially, it was creamier. Probably because of that creamer, LOL. We also made some flavors by using flavored powdered creamer, I remember a caramel and a French Vanilla, at least. No Nestle's Quik, but there's that creamer and it makes a LOT, we used it for gifts remember. HOT COCOA MIX 10 cups dry milk powder 4 3/4 cups softed confectioners sugar 1 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder 1 3/4 cups powdered non dairy creamer Mix all ingredients and put in pint canning jars with pretty tags and ribbons. To make one serving mix 1/3 cup cocoa mix with 3/4 cup of hot water. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream if you like. Merry Christmas! Annie

I added a bunch of mini marshmallows to each jar full?
I am making a big recipe of this stuff for my son's family, my daughter's family and a smaller jar for the college kid.
If I mix Mini marshmallows into the mix will they make clods in the mix....? Make it sticky? Or should I package it with a bag of marshmallows and another or crushed candy canes??
