I like shoes. After just moving, I can say I have a shoe count...over 3 dozen pair. The number suprised me.

But, I do like good shoes. I mostly buy good, good leather, and probably get about 10 years out of a pair. They run the gamut from 3 pair of Crocs, to 4 pair of Stuart Weitzman, and lots in-between.

I shoe shop in spurts..and always shop the semi-yearly Nordstrom sales - great shoe bargains then.

Hate it,like you.I got 2 pair of slides at JC Penneys a few months ago when they had a buy one pair,get 2nd pair for 88 cents,and except for my crocs those are probably the first new shoes i've bought in several years.

I love shoes and have several pairs. Since I'm kinda the jack of all trades I have quite a variety. One pair horseback riding boots, a couple of run out in the muck or work at the greenhouse shoes and boots, several school shoes or clogs Subbing, plenty of summer thongs and Crocs I've found on sale. With four seasons, two very different part time jobs, two horses that leave lots of cr@p, I'm forced to buy shoes! Hopefully on sale.

I am all for comfort.I wear New Balance Cross Trainers for sneakers. Mervyn's puts them on sale for around 40 bucks quite frequently. I can only wear cross trainers,walking styles kill my knees and hips.

For everyday I love Lands End anything. They have the most comfortable shoes and sandals. Pricey but also go on sale at Sears for 30 to 40 dollars. I wear a seven and buy the sandals in the kids dept. A size five kid's sandal fits me with the "last" they use.

I have a high,loooong arch and instep, wide ball, short toes and narrow heel. I am a half size smaller on my left foot.

Try kids' sizes. They are sized differently. I even own a pair of boots marked size four (girls) that are very comfy.

Like you I don't shoe shop for fun. It's necessity.

Wildchild, Landsend is having a great sale on kids "summer" shoes right now. Youth shoes 1-7 in the brightest colors. Most are half price in the catologs that came in the mail today.

I hate shoe shopping. I have several pair of shoes in my closet that I haven't worn for over an hour. I'm very particular. One foot is a size 7 the other a size 7 1/2.

I have always hated to shop for shoes....I have a long and narrow foot with a more narrow heel. I wear a size nine.
I can't buy cheap shoes and it kills me to have to pay the prices I have to pay for a good fit.
When I get really, really, really rich, I am going to have hand crafted shoes!

I really enjoy shopping for shoes that are on sale. I am easy to fit so I like to wait until Younkers Dept. Store has a 75% discount at the end of the season. I have purchased some very expensive shoes at a cheapy price.

I'm kinda shoe crazy, but probably not as bad as I used to be. My latest craze is Uggs. I just bought two pairs of high boots and they are sooooooooooo comfortable and cozy!! I could sleep in them.

I absolutely LOVE shoes, but I have major problems with my feet and toes, so it's very hard for me to find shoes that are comfortable. I gave up heels long ago. I told DH he's lucky because all of my paycheck would go to shoes if I had different feet!

I'm shoe crazy, but I have stopped buying cheap shoes all willy nilly just because they're cute. It was becoming ridiculous since my closet is too small to hold a collection of anything! I probably have about two dozen pair right now, including boots. I still shop, still love high heels, but seldom purchase. When I do buy I make sure it's something I'll be able to wear with several outfits for several years. So... I'll try on a pair of turquoise stilettos just for grins - but end up buying the black pumps with a sensible heel, LOL!

Me TOO!! I have super flat feet and wear an 8WW as my feet are 'inoperable'-so says 3 specialists. Major bunion deformed toes as well as evil hammertoes! I have to get real soft leather, preferably open toed and no heel higher than 1.5"
To add to the misery-I have narrow heels so I have to get sling style shoes.
On my recent trip to Raleigh-my daughter took me to a WW shoe store-I was in heaven! Bought 3 pair. ($$$) but so worth it.

Hate it also. I have to put an inner sole in one because of the size difference. I am hard to fit because of narrow feet. I wear Wally World's fake crocs to work and their fake Berkies for nearly everything else. No heels for me because my ankles are weak and turn over easily. When my ex MIL passed she had over 200 pairs of shoes!

I was always just like you describe--hated shoes, hated buying them, resented the money I had to spend on them, absolutely detested wearing them. Had never had a truly comfortable pair of shoes in over 55 years. At any given time, it was rare for me to have more than about 3-5 pairs (one dressy, a pair or 2 of sandals, a pair or 2 of sneakers. Like you, my feet are over 1/2 size different from each other.

Then I had a foot problem and made a visit to a WOMAN podiatrist. Not only did she help the immediate problem that sent me to her, but she evaluated my feet--they're basically shaped differently than most of the population--and she recommended a couple of brands of shoes.

Now? I LOVE shopping for shoes, love wearing them. I'm more comfortable in them than out of them now that I have great shoes that fit well, and I don't mind paying $50-60 per pair, because I know I'm getting my money's worth--in both comfort and quality (the first pairs I bought at her recommendation, over 3 years ago have been worn a lot, but still look like brand new).

Guess my point is, maybe finding the right brand of shoes for your feet might make a difference to you. This is one branch of medicine where I believe it's important for a woman patient to see a dr. who is a woman--not only do they know the medical info, but they undertand fashion concerns as well, and can give really good advice. If you could find a brand that is as comfortable for you, as I have--might be worth spending a few $$$ for a podiatrist visit? Good luck.

Well, I wear Clarks exclusively these days--and buy them at shoe outlets so I don't have to pay even more for them (they retail for $60-80 or so in the mall stores).

BUT understand, your feet may be different than mine. The reason I didn't toss the brand name into my first post was because everyone's different. That's the shoe my pod. recommended after evaluating my feet, my lifestyle and my medical needs. They may or may not be the best choice for you.

Aptosca, I am so in agreement w/ you. I have 2 pairs of shoes I wear for dress and New Balance tennies for the rest of the time. I had plantar fasciitis and got rid of all my flip flops (which thrilled one of my BFFs), but after almost 2 years I no longer have that problem, but only wear shoes with good arches. I'm ashamed of all the shoes I have that I never wear. I'm gradually getting rid of them. Yes, I HATE it, too.
