Does anyone else change bedding seasonally? Would love pictures

I have three sets of bedding, spring/summer, fall and winter. I would love to see how other change their bedrooms throughout the year and also need some advice on my own situation. The picture with the mauve and white bedding and curtains is the fall ensemble and I'm quite happy with that. However, I've recently changed over to winter (which has a warmer bed cover) and as you'll notice the curtains behind the bed are different from the ones on the French doors. Last winter I had valances on the window that coordinated but I wasn't happy with the overall look and added the drapes instead. It looks odd to me now to have gold drapes on one window and red drapes on the French doors. I had thought of painting gold dots on the red drapes to tie these drapes in more with the general scheme but wonder if this would look good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and, as mentioned, I'd love to see examples of what others have done to change their bedroom seasonally.

I do change my bedding seasonally - curtains too, but unfortunately I do not have pics of my winter full bedding.

I change seasonally too, and I have about 5 different sets in the basment(!) so sometimes it takes me 2 years to bring one back out. But like ttodd I don't have pictures. I have neutral curtains (a shade darker than the walls), so I don't change them.

For your curtains, adding a little gold to the red curtains sounds like a good idea. Do you sew? If so, could you add a bit of gold fabric, or red & gold patterned fabric, at the top or bottom of your red curtains, and tie it together with fringe? Otherwise, dots could work.

its always possible, here in VA weve had snow in April, if it happens id cover what i could and bring the others inside. it wouldnt be a total loss. Most of my peppers/tomatoes are in containers. Corn was old seed and between you and i, not a variety i cared for anyways and i have probably 2lbs of corn seed that needs to be planted in the next 1-2 yrs anyways i guess it wouldnt kill me, just really pi$$ me off a little(more because its my own fault, and i should know better). Im more worried about another hail storm. had one last spring that just destroyed my garden, including my corn. then 2nd run of corn we had the hurricane...

janegael, I'm glad Gloria found a home with you. You could always give her a seed ball to plant! Ingrid, imagine a dog marked just like your Nellie with long hair. That's my Felco. The vet believes he is a pit bull/bird dog mix. He has the pit bull conformation and personality and the bird dog fur. We mostly keep him clipped, as his skin does not support all that fur well. He's sold me on pit bulls as a breed. I will get another when that day comes. Wendy, Max is beyond beautiful. Makes me want to go out and get one just like him. I could stare at that face for hours. This is my Baxter guarding my plants. DH e-mailed me that this AM. He caught the event just as he was leaving the house.

This is a great thread. I first have to say that I had my husband look at some of this, and I will say upfront that he is totally engaged (he does most of the cooking). But I'm terrible. My family is here and rated me at a 9.5 out of 10 for being a witch the hours before a party. I remember yelling at my daughter because I had just hung up a perfect clean towerl on the hanging ring and went in, they had used it, and wadded it up over the ring. I yelled at them, and still feel bad about it today. Most importantly because I don't want them to think that entertaining is awful and never have a dinner party because they remember it being hell day. I grew up with my mother keeping a horrendous house. It was a mess, and I mean a mess. Counters piled with crap, dishes not done for days, and she didn't care. She was always having friends stop by. Even as a young child, it embarassed me to all heck. I can still remember coming home from babysitting at midnight or so when I was 12 or 13 years old (I started young), and I would clean the kitchen from top to bottom. It would take a couple of hours. I was different than her even back then. When my dad remarried, it was Martha Stewart land. She had to have it spotless. Every Saturday was crack and corner day. We quite literally had to pull the couch out and vacuum under it at least every other week, and we had to bleach the counters. Crazy the other way! So, I can't seem to have anyone over unless my house is totally cleaned! And our parties themselves are quite memorable to everyone who comes. They talk about it afterward for weeks. I do enjoy having wonderful parties but I also wish I could relax about my house. I know its wrapped up in my childhood psyche. I will even make sure the main counters are clean as guests are arriving for a dinner party. And that's while we're using the kitchen! But I'm also so proud of our kitchen and want to show it off. Now one time, we had a Chinese extravaganze where we covered our desk with Chinese ingredients, friends came over at noon and didn't leave until midnight. The men mostly cooked and it was a blast. Every inch of every counter was covered with crap. I remember walking in the kitchen, the dust was flying from someone rolling out potstickers while someone else was frying a whole fish over the wok burner, and someone else was mixing something up. I didn't care what the kitchen looked like that day. I'll never forget that party. I don't know if I'll ever change about the clean house though. It's so engrained in me. Well, my husband is making London Broil so I'm off to the kitchen!! Great stories though. I think we have more in common than we realized.

Since it's been all about "Something's Gotta Give" I thought that Nancy Meyers' follow up movie "The Holiday" needed a closer look. Just as the star of Something's Gotta Give was the Hamptons house itself, the star of the "The Holiday" wasn't really Cameron Diaz or Kate Winslet, but their two homes, one in Los Angeles and one in the English Countryside, respectively. And in another connection between the two movies, the production team was led Jon Hutman - but Beth Rubino, so wonderful on the set of SGG, was absent for The Holiday. Right now I have a winter spread and a summer spread. Here's a couple of pics, the summer one especially is kinda old, I have new beside tables and lamps since then. I'm a sucker for bedding but I try to make myself keep walking when something catches my eye in the stores. I was just thinking the other day it's about time to switch back to the lighter summer look. I'd love to see what others do too, good post!

Mimi, what a beautiful bedroom you have! I also have a pastel quilt for summer, love the way the light colors brighten up the whole room. I would kill for your winter bedspread. I know I've seen it on a post before and coveted it then. Your metal bed frame is one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen, definitely not what I've usually come across.

Thank you Ingrid :-) The quilt is the L.L. Bean whole cloth quilt. It comes in green and blue also. I made several posts before ordering and the opinions were very mixed. I finally did it even though it's hard to choose something from a catalog. I really do like it though and I'm glad I did. I hate to take it off but switching things up keeps me from getting tired of either of them. The bed I stumbled on. I love sleigh beds but was not really wanting another wood in there with my antique mix of woods. When I saw the metal sleigh bed style I thought it was a perfect solution. It's the "Bittersweet" sleigh bed from Ashley Furniture. Very inexpensive!

I'd love to see other seasonal bedding changes, I know some of you guys do it!

Thank you, lacombe, we do enjoy it. My favorite time is when the afternoon sun comes through the French door and gives a golden glow to all the colors in the room.

Sorry, no pics bec. my change-over is so simple. My bedskirt and other bedroom fabric is sage/beige/off-white/cranberry floral. So my fall-winter coverlet and shams are solid cranberry and the spring-summer ensemble is off-white. I don't change draperies.

I think your gold draperies are fine behind the similar colored headboard.

Still looking around for a new summer comforter etc. but haven't found one that can withstand cats AND still be soft but lightweight for the Dallas summers.

Jan, your bedroom is so gorgeous in both pictures that I'm unable to pick a favorite. You have a unique sense of style that I really admire and enjoy. An elegant, refined cottage may seem like a paradox but you have made it a reality.

Wow Jan, those really are both great. Your summer one is really summer-like with all the flowers but they are both beautiful. Love that bed too!
