I've never seen them before until a couple of weeks ago on "Spice Up My Kitchen". I was in love!!! I haven't seen them at a store yet.

I remember that my aunt had something similar back in the 60's or 70's. When we first started looking for appliances back last summer, they were just getting in the bronze appliances. We knew that we wanted black , but I did ask our rep about the bronze ones. She thought they were going to be just a passing fad.

OMG........looks like what we had in the 70's-80's! Since I lived thru that era I wouldn't care for it again.

Just saw a decor show the other day and the designers say the trend now is toward the pewter/nickel look.

I remember a discussion about this over on kitchens about 6 months ago. They've been out for a while but don't think they'll catch on. (watch me eat my words) I do LOVE however, the ORB coffee maker that Cuisinart makes. It's purrrrty and not a huge investment if it goes out quick.

I just saw this the other night on HGTV, spice up my kitchen. It's not my cup of tea, I don'te care for stainless either. It's so hard to keep clean.

Can anyone say "Coppertone" that's what it was called. It was a bear to keep clean; the fingerprints and kisses from my then 15 month old son were always there. He could see his reflection and kissed it all the time!

I remember those on the kitchens forum, too! Reminds me of those brown ones from my childhood in the seventies - yuk!

Never seen them before. Love the look! Gives the room some added warmth rather that the look of that cold industrial stainless steel.

Those have been around for a while now. I don't think it looks anything like oil-rubbed bronze, but rather stainless steel that has been tinted bronze, at least in the link that Karen provided. I don't care for stainless, and I don't like this either.

I remember the coppertone, along with harvest gold and avocado green. Hated the gold and the coppertone, but I always liked the avocado. My condo that I rented back in the early 80's from my dad had avocado appliances, and I loved them - they worked perfectly with my kitchen decor.

I does remind me of the old coppertone. I always like coppertone, much more then the harvest gold and avocado. I think the oil-rubbed bronze is a warm pleasing look.

My dad just got rid of his old stove that was that color...I should have had him keep it...he would have been a head of his time....

Before I saw the pix I was thinking 'be still my beating heart'...I go weak in the knees for copper and bronze.

My first thought when I saw the pix was 'GAD!!! Mom's kitchen from the 70's!' Definitely not a fan.

I personally like black appliances much better than stainless.

I have done my kitchen cabinet hardware and electrical switchplate covers in oil-rubbed bronze in addition to my faucets, sprayer and soap dispenser. I love the ORB Cuisinart coffee maker but can't find it. I even went on the Cuisinart website. Can you tell me what store you found it in? Thanks.

I didn't like it back then and still don't like it. I'm of the concensus also that it won't be around for long, then again I could be wrong.

I had a chance to see these up-close last week. (hhgregg carries them, if you have a store near you). They are very different from the old brown appliances from the '60s/70s. The older colored appliances were enameled and glossy. This is more of a brushed texture -- like a more grainy stainless steel, only in a bronze color. Very tactile. They actually hae a very nice look to them. Now, would I buy them? I don't know. I'm always overly cautious with anything that might be a "trend."

I do like the look of the bronze appliances -- and would work well in many kitchens ......

Does anyone remember (or still have ....) the cream-color or the ivory-color appliances??? ((bisque? was one of the shades I think?)

Wonder what other colors the industry will come up with ????

I looked at the Jenn Air Oil Rubbed Bronze appliances for our build. It was wierd-- I kind of liked them but I kept flashing back to my aunt's old coppertone double oven. In the end, that vision killed the sale. That- and I caught sight of the beautiful CornuFe range in black with satin chrome and copper details. I never looked back! LOL

I think after the "coppertone" "avacado" and Harvest Gold came
the "Almond" appliances. Then back came white then black.

I was so excited when I read about the orb appliances because stainless just does not speak to me. Its ok, but I prefer white. sometimes I feel like I would like something different, and I do love orb, so I was considering it. However, the orb that I did see for appliances was not waht I was hoping for. Oh well I guess its white appliances for me forever.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the oil rubbed bronze coffeemaker pictured above by lindybarts? I tried contacting Cuisinart and they were of no help.

teacats, I still have my almond refrigerator. It's 20 yrs. old.

I wish the bisque (almond) would return....it went so much better with the wood cabinets and not as stark as white, but I am with the minority....I do not like stainless steel....too much up-keep for this old woman....same with black....not going to do all of that polishing anymore.
