still can't decide about paint color

I've been playing on the BM site with different color options for my kitchen walls. Do any of these work? I am totally open to color suggestions! Thanks.

They all look even better than the blue. The blue was
a pretty color but the green and tan are even prettier.

I like the red best with the adjacent room's wall color. I might prefer a tan or green with more yellow in it. These seem a little cool to me with the cabinets and adjacent room.

I love blue and it's hard to tell what it looks like in your kitchen because I'm pretty sure it isn't what's on my monitor -- never is. ;-) I think it is possible to work with blue, but I'm not sure that shade is right. Since you are getting more yes votes in person and more no votes online -- consider the sources and that we are not seeing the same thing. I'm not sure if you were planning to carry the color around the rest of the walls as you've shown the other colors in the other thread. I think part of what I don't like is the blue as an accent wall. It's too choppy for me -- especially with the opposing white trim and dark brown cabinets. I'd rather see more of the blue on those other bits of wall or make the one large wall either the same beige or a shade in between your family room color and the kitchen beige. If you go beige, you can look at accessories, rugs, window treatments -- lots of other features to pick up some blue with. Good thing about paint is there is there is no one right answer and it's one of the easiest things to play with changing (I'll paint anything other than a stairwell myself, so that makes it even easier).

You have it exactly right, 1-4 are the potential swatches that are taped up (minus the possible SW colors that I don't have swatches for) and A-D are the colors in adjoining rooms. I totally see your point about judging the colors from the little swatches and a computer monitor (I wish I could have you all visit our kitchen, lol!). Painting actual swatches on the wall would be best. I was hoping to narrow the choices down a bit - if possible (for example, if it turns out that Fernwood Green only looks good with a true white, or Guilford Green looks terrible against a pale yellow like Ambiance, that kind of thing). I suppose someone would really need the fan decks to make that judgement though. =/ Maybe I should just buy all 6 colors to test? (Hope DH isn't reading this, lol!) Here is the countertop story - We're doing our kitchen on a budget. I wanted soapstone (can't afford it now), so we got Ikea birch butcherblock countertops, stained them black with india ink (thanks to Brickmanhouse!), and finished them with satin PolyWhey. We don't expect them to last forever, but hope they can give us a few years until I can get the soapstone that I've been drooling over. Yknow, IMHO, I wish we all could drop the "D" word from our vocabulary. If we love it , if its well made, if its functional - then a place can be found for it, period. In other words - your china cab is just fine, and it does look good on the side rather than viewed head on. That said of course we like our rooms freshened up now and then - but I think you can jazz it up in other ways incl choosing a new color ILOVE greens/browns/tans, but the pea soup color Im kind of tired of. (or so it looks on my monitor anyway, which has been known to be wrong.) Definitely think about going deeper richer. Dont know if Penny's or Anglo's deep dark colors are good for you but it gives you an idea at least of what deeper/richer could do for you. If all else fails maybe you could just take the living room color and just go a few steps darker/more intense with it. Let the DR be cozy and intimate complete w/ a big china cabinet - why not? The DR should relate well to the LR, and that would be one way of doing it. Minor quibble - I would think about that wall space where the china cab was - is there a third pic that could fit in there? With cabinet moved, that wall becomes very significant. Not liking just the two pics , needs to be 3 I think..... Or some other wall decor or arrangement .... minor thing, so perhaps just wait for the inspiration or right thing to come along.

Well, if I were you, I would paint the coffee table the same as the end table and bring in some pillows that have the color of both the sofa and tables. Also you might want to turn your side table the other way...it will work better visually. I like the green first, and tan second. Not a fan of the orange-red. I think it is too bold and doesn't let the cabinets and countertop be the star.

Well, I guess I can't go wrong! I do think they all look nice. I don't know if you all saw my original post with the far wall painted blue (with the other walls beige). It is a little "out there" since there is no blue AT ALL in the kitchen, but there are a lot of blue accents in the adjacent family room. I have been stressing over it, but everyone who sees it really likes the blue. I am totally mixed up at this point, and not sure what to do, though leaning towards sticking with the blue for the time being. Nice to know I have several other good options though. I really appreciate all the opinions--thanks! (I would link to my other post with a photo of the blue wall, but I can't find it. It's late--time to go to bed!)

Green, but the a warmer shade. Try one that is a litte more olive.

I like the green and tan... , I love rusty colors, but in these photos.. I think it is too hard looking for the room
