We've had Seth all weekend....

And he's had no nap yet today! This granny is pooped! He slept really good all night but usually naps again at 10:00 and maybe around 3:00 everyday. NOT TODAY!!! He's so tired and giddy right now. the only time he's supposed to have his binky is nap time, I thought he was sleeping and went to make sure...this is where I found him! I told him to give me the binky and he continued to tease me with it. I finally had to go in and get it! Mom, dad and Ricky went to Legoland and Sea World down San Diego way this week end. Ricky just called sooo excited to tell me that he and his dad got to be part of the dolphin and whale shows. I can't wait to see the video. AND I can't wait until they get home tonight....like I said Granny is POOPED out!

Really for the most part Seth was excellent...just missed the kids that are always here, so he wore papa and granny out.

Awwww Gwanny how could you be upset with that precious baby? He has gotten so big. I bet Ricky had a blast and love all alone time with his parents..............Stacy

It's going to be interesting here.......the temperature forecasts change as often as the peso to dollar. We have extensive plantings in trees/shrubs/flowers/fruits/vegetables. Far too many to ever even think about protecting. I have ten or twenty types of shrubs in bloom now. An extraordinarily lovely fruit set this year for peaches and apples. Blueberries almost sized up. Strawberries starting to turn red. Brambles all in bloom. Grapes starting to get little bunches on them with new vines planted. sigh. I spent all day on the veggie garden. I put it in three weeks later than last year, and just finished the plantings (all but the melons) yesterday. Guess who saddled up at ten this morning haying in the rows of potatoes so I wouldn't get foliage die-back. Hot capping tomatoes. Covering the cukes and beans who are already budded and about to flower. I did also cover the strawberry bed. It's each man for his own now and keeping fingers crossed that they'll be off a few degrees too high. I am a serious food producer.......flowers can come again next year, but I have an empty pantry to fill and I sure as ..........don't want to have to replant everything.

Reality Check Time There are areas of the country where roses did not tend to be planted in cemetaries. Iris, yes, peonies, yes, daffodils, yes, arborvitae in vast quantities, but not roses. In one week in Arizona, not even particularly looking for either cemetaries or roses, we saw more cemetary roses than I've ever seen in this part of the country. The closest anybody seems to be to an explanation is that roses in cemetaries are connected to a Catholic cultural heritage, which doesn't really arrive in the northeast until the late 19th, early 20th century. My mother's family cemetary plot in western Pennsylvania looks like something from an Edward Gorey drawing (as did my grandparent's house) Which brings up something else to keep in mind. The major enemy of neglected roses in the eastern part of the country isn't drought but trees. Many older cemetaries here are heavily shaded. In the really old cemetaries - the 17th century ones - it's not uncommon to have 200 year old trees growing in the middle of the headstones. So you have the conumdrum that roses can only exist around people, but people can decide to get rid of them.

Hi Harry! I wish that you live closer, I would invite you for lunch today.:) This is the first time that I am growing the Okinawa sweet potato, I really have a small garden so I planted them around the blackberries and sugarcane. I kept cutting the vines so they wouldn't run over other places. You can keep the vines as small as the bush ones cutting them. Next warm season I am going to plant them in the raised beds. I will double the amount, let's say if I am growing 6 slips of the bush porto rico, I will grow 12 of the Okinawa. The color keeps a deep purple even after cooking, I suppose after some curing they will taste better. They are excellent now! You must be busy shelling all those BJBB,lol. I am very busy too making papaya chips in the dehydrator, they taste good with salt like french fries but better for you... Thank you Wildatheart - You should try to do a lot of gardening now since you like the cold, me on the other hand likes the heat, after living in Arizona for 10 years I put gloves for anything. This morning when I went to walk my dog on the trail, I was thinking that is time to take out the leather gloves to walk and I had scarf too.lol. Silvia

In my township we trade, barter all the time, but we are agricultural verse urban. I went to pay my taxes and take a jam, then get a loaf of bread and honeydew from their plot. My next door neighbor, we call each other when have too much or have a need. Freebies we usually split up in half for each other. Neighbor down the hill flagged me down this fall and handed me 10lbs of grapes, I didn't have enough time to process, so I passed them on and now are fermenting for wine. "Townies" as we call them here are a different breed, yes they will take the beans if they are cleaned and delivered, accept the canned goods, ask for another but I never get the jars back.

Ahhh, he is so cute. Grant has a tunnel similar to that, he loves it (and he teases me in it too).

I cant believe Seth just sleeps in a chair like that. It amazes me when I see kids doing that. There is NO WAY Grant would do that. EVER. He wont even sleep in his stroller, and he has to be really tired to sleep in his carseat. Makes it difficult when we're out and about and he's tired!!

I bet you had a great time with him, he sure is a cutie.

Adorable pictures, but I know what you mean about being pooped. We had Braden and Collin both all day yesterday and then Braden spent the night. Those two wore us out. We baked Easter cookies and then went out and rode tricyles, then came in and ate lunch and they took a nap. If I had 1/4th of their energy, I'd get so much more done. lol

How old is Seth? I'm babysitting my 14 month old while Mom & Dad are working. I'm exhausted! I wish I had half of his energy.

Oh he's so beautiful!
I can sympathize with you though Vicki.I had my three grandkids here for three days,and even though they are my life,I was totally exhausted by the time they waved Bye Bye to go back home.

LOL...we both just woke up! He slept for 2 and a half hours! I got to doze off for an hour or so. I woke up and papa was holding him in the rocking chair where he slept another 30 mintues. Mona he is 15 months and so full of energy! He keeps us, usually me, hopping! Mom and dad just called and they are on their way home now...a few more hours! I enjoy him though....a one on one with each of them is always a treat!
