I cant't stand that promo for some family show on the Family Channel I don't even know what show; the father seems to be giving a boy permission to kiss his daughter and the boy (kid) says "With tongue or without" and the father answers "without"

give me Leave it to Beaver please. and this is on at least a dozen times a day

Yeah before you flame I'm a prude of the old school!!

I have to say right now its ankle-biting critters. I've already been to the dr. once for 5 bites from I know not what. Have used Off religiously since then when working in the yard, but neglected to before visiting a neighbor, DUH. Jannie - There's a little on/off gizmo you can buy that screws onto the end of the hose, then you can screw on a hand sprinkler (or whatever) to that. Then, when you need to make a change, just turn the lever to 'off', make the change, then turn it on again. They come in various forms, plastic to metal, but are inexpensive and can be found in any garden dept. They do narrow the flow a little, but otherwise are very handy to have around. What I hate are the pop-ups WHILE you are watching a show....you know...the ones promoting an upcoming show. A pop-up isn't going to entice me to watch a show I'm not interested in...period....no matter how many times you repeat it. And I don't even like the channel logo on the screen....I am WATCHING the channel, I already know what channel it is for crying out loud. I would like to see a movement to stop the incessant promoting...it takes away from the program and serves no purpose...other than to tick people off!

LOL...Do you like to read, Susan? DH and I like to read. We are on satellite, and NEVER watch t.v. that much. DH threatens to cancel our satellite subscription, but I tell him "wait, wait, I'll start watching it", but I never do. LOL. I just LOVE my books. I affectionally tell my friends that travel that I travel too~~~ I have been to Russia as a spy, the Congo on a Safari, an archelolgist in Egypt, in the mideast on a cia covert mission, hidden slaves in my home during the civil war, been in the revolutionary war fightin'- in 3 feet of snow with hypothermia, why I have been Scarlet in a tissy and NOW I DO know something about birthing those babies!!(with long southern eyelashes slapping my "scarlet" cheeks). My adventures only exist in my books and in my imagination.:)

I have read a couple of books lately that had me sputtering. in one, this girl escapes from a serial killer, but he shouts things as she's getting away that indicate he knows a lot about her. But do the NYC cops put her in protective custody? No. Do they lean on her that she should go stay in some other city, or some other building even? No. And the writer works in the medical examiner's office in NYC. There was another one that I can't remember--it was just stupid. Like, some crime that didn't get investigated, or something, and that's how somebody gets away with something, and I couldn't believe it. There's a certain arrogance on an author's part that I just can't forgive. Every now and then one of my DD's books will have something that doesn't make sense from a grown-up perspective. But it hasn't bothered me quite as much, but I have made a point of telling her what I think would *really* happen.

TV Land has also gone to crap with its stupid reality shows. Used to you could count on it for some good classics, but no more. Give me Beaver, Andy and The Waltons please, along with Little House on the Prairie.

I am a charter member of that PRUDE club.

TV has gotten really ugly this season with all the profanity. Does putting profanity into a show attract more watchers? Doesn't attract me once I see it is there.

And commercials are so crude. Two that were on this evening just made my skin crawl. One was for Viagra and the language was so explicit I just wondered how many teen age boys were taking notes. The other commercial was a parody type showing a teenage boy buying breath mints, as though they were condoms.

Dignity and morals are slipping faster and faster into the gutter.

Really makes me sad, especially for the young people.

Requesting membership too.

Remarked last night how scandalized my parents would be to hear or see what's on TV these days. I can almost hear Daddy calling someone to get it out of his house w/orders to smash it so no one else would be exposed to such trash.

Anyone besides me e-mail CEO's of advertisers to complain?

Wouldn't it be nice if there were channels that showed only family appropriate shows and commercials?

Well, I guess they do. It is called PBS. hmmm...maybe I'll just cancel satellite and go back to more of the local programming, which includes PBS and the major networks, (though the networks have a lot of offensive stuff too on 'regular' tv.

Do any of you remember when there was a rule about when these types of things could be aired? It had to be after 9pm I believe. It wasn't very long though till the shows they slotted for after 9pm went into syndication and were shown at anytime during the day. I've always been a member of the 'prude club', even when I was very young.

That is bad enough - what gets me is "f-ing this" and
"f-ing" that when you see a group of teenagers.

I was at a Best Buy, and stopped to talk to a friend
just going out. There were 4 teen-age boys coming
out and talking -- and that's about all I picked up
from their conversation.

They have no social skills, morals at all. Now,
obviously, there are still some really, really good
kids - but these that have had absolutely no values
in their lives cast a pretty big shadow.

Scares me -- when they take over.

Teenage boys don't need Viagra. LOL.

If TV bothers one so much. Just turn it off. Simple.

I don't even own a TV. Most of the time when at another person's home they have the thing running. I can't for the life of me see what the constant attraction is.

This has nothing to do with tv, but the Best Buy conversation reminded me of it. We were in a local pizza place and the table behind me (and my 2 young DDs) had 3 teenage/20-something guys. I SWEAR the conversation was "I smoked last night at 11:00pm, how long do you think I have to wait before the test is still positive?"

But for the people who DO see what the attraction is all of the crude language, etc. IS an annoyance.

I agree with all the others - tv is going more down hill all the time. Glad that we don't have kids at home. I'd sure be the tv police!

I just saw that disgusting commercial about the tongue=thing. Believe me, if any young pup ever had the audacity to say anything like that to my Dad or to my Hubs when DD was dating.....they would have found themselves in the front yard with a major foot print on their behind. When I'm out in the mall, the language is just as bad or sometimes even worse from the girls than the boys. I'm glad I'm not raising kids now days. Dottie
