My vote is the ruby red - but that's my color of my range. I didn't realize I could get the red knobs too - something to look into. Even though the color says "ruby red" it is subdued (maybe a little too much for me but I wanted it to compliment my granite - which will be installed on Mon.) I believe if you have the choice of color for your range - why not?! I do think it's a personal decision and I know people will be saying "what was she thinking?" but I love that pop of color (and it really isn't that big of a pop in my cherry kitchen - at least to me). I have an old home too with oak floors.

I couldn't see your paint color above though but that can easily be changed (haven't picked mine yet). I would check your counter color with the stove and make sure they compliment each other and not clash. I originally wanted a much brighter red for my range but it didn't go with the cabinets and granite (typhoon bordeaux).

I vote Black...does it have to have red knobs? It's the golden oak & red that is "off" to me...but if it's just the knobs, maybe it will be OK.

Hi colickyboy - Sounds like you are getting the Brookhaven cabs then? I LOVE the French Vanilla and I am sure you will like yours too. My honest opinion is that a red range, as gorgeous as it would be, would not go with your color scheme. You have creamy yellow and green tones going on with your cabs, walls and counters.. I vote for the black and I think it will be much more in keeping with Arts & Crafts too. I think the stainless would also be nice. Such a hard choice because Red is one of those colors

Is the green wall paint the paint that you're talking about? Or are you matching the paint on the cabs?

If it's the green wall paint, I might recommend that you pick your range/hood color first, and then find a paint color to complement. The appliance color will be your big pop, and the paint could complement your wow factor.

I like red the best of your choices, although with the green paint, I'm afraid it will look too Christmas-y. :)

Which MA hood are you looking at? If it's the barrel-style like the black one boxer listed above, do check out marthavila (red MA hood over an AGA) and katieob (stainless MA hood over stainless something, I believe).

Okay, now I'll duck...

I am usually big on color, especially red or black. But I love the cream or white ranges (close to your cab color or a shade darker)...So elegant and pretty that they are enough 'bling' and focal point, but you can put other colors around it...and change them as the whim strikes.

If you go with black or stainless, I'm not 'feeling' the red knobs... On the black it's a whole other color scheme than you've got going otherwise, and on stainless, I feel like it's an unnecessary attempt to look like a Wolf, since there is no other red to connect.

I think you should pick a color you love. You will be looking at this range for many years. I know this is about decoration but this is also about what makes you happy.

I love cobalt blue and my range and my Kitchenaid are both cobalt blue. I will always love it. It makes me feel calm and happy at the same time. The other day, I walked into a public bath at an auxilliary of an art museum and it was decorated with shiny cobalt blue tiles and white walls. Oh, it was beautiful.

boxerpups - thanks for the pics. i love the black range with the stained glass windows in the prairie style kitchen. our cabinets will be creamy white, though. do you have any pics with colored ranges and cream colored cabinets?

buffalotina - yes, we settled on brookhaven...what a great memory! thanks for your encouragement on french vanilla. we almost chickened out into antique white at the very end but we stuck with french vanilla (in part thanks to you) and hope it will be ok. i agree that a black range will go well with Arts & Crafts... good point!

skoo - we are indeed considering the barrel-style hood so I'll look into marthavila's kitchen. i've seen katieob's hood/range and it was one of our inspirations for the stainless over stainless look.

buehl & rhome410 - I was fiddling on the BlueStar configuration page and thought red knobs on black range looked nice...but I realize that was in a vacuum, not in our kitchen with the other color elements involved. the red knobs were a whimsical accent, and as you said, since people are familiar with it from wolf ranges, it didn't look weird (other colors certainly did). but while it didn't look weird, i agree that there is nothing else red to connect. even with a red kitchenaid mixer on the counter, it's still kind of just out there, i guess.

morton5 & kaismom - blue is interesting but i'm afraid i can't pull it off.

i guess i'm leaning black hood over black range for now. so confusing!

I must tell you I get very confused with Craftsman mission
style when the cabinets are white. So if some of these
are off it is because I was trying to find the other
elements you are looking for. Dark counters, blk, red
or ss range.

oops that webshotphoto doesn't always show up. Here it is again. And I vote no red knobs, either black or stainless.

I also love colored ranges. Mine is a cobalt blue Viking which looks great in my Spanish style kitchen. But for an arts and crafts house, I would seriously consider a green one. I am thinking more warm like that beautiful green tile posted above, not an emerald or British racing green. That green of the tile is a real classic arts and crafts color. Then you could do arts and crafts backsplash tile that picked up that color. That would look gorgeous.

I LOVE orchilvr's kitchen - it's a great inspiration pic for you. The black would look super.

We struggled with our TurboChef door colour - debated between red and a shade of green. In the end we did a custom red that's deeper and richer than the standard red they offer. I think it works well with the sage green cabs, light golden colour tile floors and soapstone (but then again I am *very* partial to red!)

Here's a pic I came across of a green range and hood - food for thought...

Have you looked at the RAL chart on the BS site...so many to choose from! (I know I know - that is part of the problem, right?) The best advise you've received is that it should be a colour you love, becasue it's an expensive investment.

We just purchased a black Aga Legacy so I'll put in a vote for black as well. I think it looks quietly vintage and appropriate. However, it's not quite as much of an attention grabber as a green or red range would be. Maybe it depends a bit on whether you want your range to be a showstopping, under-the-spotlights element or whether you want it to be more muted.

Coming late to this, just wanted to thank boxerpups and everyone for posting the many photos -- so timely, as I'm going through this too.

I also love the green range (BTW I think Orchidluv'rs Lacanche is actually British Racing Green, if memory serves). BlueStar has so many amazing greens -- I particularly like the 6020Chromeoxidegreen. I seem to have this color all over my house and am seriously considering it -- just wondering whether it would look alright with the (ancient original) gumwood cabinets.
